- This article is about the expansion for Pokémon Sword and Shield. For the location in the Galar region, see Crown Tundra.
The Crown Tundra (Japanese: 冠の雪原 The Snowfield of the Crown) is the second expansion in the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass. Featuring the Crown Tundra, the theme of the expansion is "exploration". It will be released during Northern Hemisphere fall 2020 (Southern Hemisphere spring 2020).
It will follow The Isle of Armor.
Features
Characters
The character Peony will appear.
Pokémon
A patch will be released in conjunction with the launch of The Crown Tundra. Players can access these new and returning Pokémon even if they have not purchased the Expansion Pass with the help of trading and Pokémon HOME. Pokémon found in the wild and those owned by other Trainers in The Crown Tundra will change their levels depending on whether the player has completed the Champion Cup.
New Pokémon and forms
The Legendary Pokémon Calyrex will debut in The Crown Tundra.
Galarian Slowpoke can be evolved into Galarian Slowking using an item found in the Crown Tundra.
Five other new Legendary Pokémon have also been revealed. Two of these Pokémon are new Legendary titans, Regieleki and Regidrago; while the other three are regional forms of the Legendary birds: Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.

Returning Pokémon
Over 100 old Pokémon will be made available in Pokémon Sword and Shield alongside the release of The Crown Tundra.
The following Pokémon are presumed to be among the returning Pokémon due to them or their evolutionary relatives appearing in prerelease material:
Note that some of these Pokémon, such of the members of the Light trio, are already programmed into the base game, and can be imported freely via Pokémon HOME. It is also possible that some of these Pokémon may not be included in the Crown Tundra Pokédex at all, as was the case with Magearna, who was included with the patch associated with The Isle of Armor.
Legendary Pokémon Dens
Many Legendary Pokémon from the past can be encountered as Dynamax Pokémon and caught while the player is exploring underneath Pokémon Dens.
They include Mewtwo, the Legendary beasts, the Tower duo, the Eon duo, the Weather trio, the Lake guardians, the Creation trio, Heatran, Cresselia, the Forces of Nature, the Tao trio, the Aura trio, the Guardian deities, and the aforementioned Light trio.
Customization
The protagonist can wear exploration gear and new fashion items will also be available.
Dynamax Adventures
Players will be able to explore Pokémon Dens to find Legendary Pokémon from previous core series games and fight them in Max Raid Battles in a co-op play mode called Dynamax Adventures.
Galarian Star Tournament
Once the player has completed the Crown Tundra story, a new battle mechanic called the Galarian Star Tournament will be unlocked within Wyndon Stadium. This Tournament allows the player to team up and battle against Trainers encountered in the main game.
