Problem with the type1/type2

For some reason, I'm getting a problem when I just delete the "|tyep2=" line. For example:

{{Pokémon/1
|pokemon=Dragonair
|ndex=148
|level=54
|game=FireRed
|type1=Dragon
|held=Unknown
|ability=Shed Skin
|move1=Safeguard
|move1type=Normal
|move2=Outrage
|move2type=Dragon
|move3=Dragon Rage
|move3type=Dragon
|move4=Hyper Beam
|move4type=Normal
}}

Gives me:

File:Spr 1 148.png
Type:
Dragon Unknown
Dragonair Lv.54
Safeguard
Normal
Outrage
Dragon
Dragon Rage
Dragon
Hyper Beam
Normal

However,

{{Pokémon/1
|pokemon=Dragonair
|ndex=148
|level=54
|game=FireRed
|type1=Dragon
|type2=Dragon
|held=Unknown
|ability=Shed Skin
|move1=Safeguard
|move1type=Normal
|move2=Outrage
|move2type=Dragon
|move3=Dragon Rage
|move3type=Dragon
|move4=Hyper Beam
|move4type=Normal
}}

Gives me:

File:Spr 1 148.png
Types:
Dragon Dragon
Dragonair Lv.54
Safeguard
Normal
Outrage
Dragon
Dragon Rage
Dragon
Hyper Beam
Normal

I'm getting slightly aggravated with this, it's probably due to my lack of sleep though - Slegna 00:05, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

I found your problem, even though I'm sure why it happens. Use "{{Pokémon|gen=<number>" instead of "{{Pokémon/<number>" and it'll work. --electAbuzzzz 07:32, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Gracias. I knew it was something small and stupid. - Slegna 11:12, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

shiny

how can shiny Pokémon be shown using this template? Turtwig A Contributions Talk 22:08, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

I think it has something to do with the "ndex" section, Turtwig A. Alpha CuboneKing 22:12, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
No, actually there's a parameter called "spritegender". You can enter "shiny", "male", "female", "male shiny" or "female shiny" there to change the sprite when needed. --electAbuzzzz 22:13, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Yep. Obserrrve on the red Gyarados's page. TTEchidna 17:35, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Purpose

of {{Pokémon/1}}, {{Pokémon/2}}, etc... Seriously, they're not necessary. If anything, it's aggravating. The only "shortcut" is removing the gen parser. That's it... unless someone tells me their purpose, I think these should be deleted. ht14 03:19, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Ummm... Dude, when you use this template, you're actually using the subtemplates. The "gen" parameter calls one of these subtemplates. --electAbuzzzz 09:43, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Me no comprende... I vaguely understand it, but it's ok... ht14 21:46, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

what if?

the Pokémon can have both abilities. How can that be represented? Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 00:22, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Only one ability supported. Sorry.
People have tried to reflect two abilities on userpages, but all that ends up doing is adding unwanted links to the wanted pages...--Shiningpikablu252 00:28, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
The reason I was asking was because of this page. Apparently, Houndoom has two abilities. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 00:31, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Could there at least be an "ability2" parameter? Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 00:42, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Houndoom doesn't have two abilities. Its ability can be one of two things (if you saw a Houndoom in the wild, this would be randomly determined by the game). Apparently, Darach's Houndoom has the ability Early Bird. Kidburla 12:49, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

I know this conversation's six months old, But it's come up again now that it is used for some MD Pokémon, which can have two abilities at the same time. I could edit the template to have an optional ability2 parameter which doesn't change the current template if it is left out if that is alright. Werdnae (talk) 03:12, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

That would make life easier actually. ht14 03:20, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Provided you don't kill the template in the process, go for it. —darklordtrom 04:13, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
I've changed the Generation IV template, and previewed it extensively, so I hope I haven't missed something stupid. Do any of the Pokémon from MDRB have one? (i.e. do I need to change the Gen III template as well?) I don't want to kill the server unnecessarily. Werdnae (talk) 06:02, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, Ekans in Team Meanies can have two abilities. Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 20:47, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Done. Werdnae (talk) 21:09, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
