Televisions or TVs are part of the furniture in most houses in the Pokémon world. They debuted in Generation I, but were merely for decoration until Generation III. They have also appeared in the Pokémon anime.

In the games

Prior to Diamond and Pearl, the games featured non-widescreen CRT TVs. Diamond and Pearl replaced them with widescreen CRT TVs, and a widescreen flat-panel TV can be found at the Villa in Platinum. Flat-screen TVs became the standard model in Black and White.

Kanto and Johto

Television in Red and Blue

The TV in the player's house displays a movie. Other televisions in these generations were merely for decoration purposes and, unlike later generations, the television is in the middle of the room. Televisions normally appeared in residential houses. The same applies in FireRed and LeafGreen.

In Johto, the Goldenrod Radio Tower broadcasts radio programs.

The movie from Red, Blue, and Yellow and FireRed and LeafGreen (if player is male) is a reference to the movie Stand by Me. If the player is female, the movie from FireRed and LeafGreen is a reference to the movie The Wizard of Oz.

Teachy TV

The Teachy TV, which exists only in FireRed and LeafGreen, airs the Poké Dude Show, where a character called the Poké Dude instructs the player on basic gameplay elements like how to catch Pokémon and how to battle.

Start of the show

"Hey, all you Trainers out there! HELLO, Trainers! ……… ……… ……… Come on, let me hear you! HELLO, Trainers! It's me, the Poké Dude!"

"All righty, here goes! Keep your eyes glued to the super/sorta super Poké Dude Show!"

"Remember, Trainers, a good deed a day brings happiness to stay!"

"Teach me how to battle."

"Today, the Poké Dude's here to tell you about how you can battle Pokémon! Say you're out for a stroll when, suddenly, a wild Pokémon appears! It's up to you to smartly use your Pokémon and their moves to reduce the opponent's HP to nothing, and claim victory! I'll show you how to do that in person and for sure!"

"The speedier of the battlers gets to attack first. It looks like my Rattata was faster than the Pidgey. The battlers take turns attacking and reducing each other's HP. My Rattata reduced the foe's HP to zero, so it wins! The Pokémon that took part in the battle get EXP. Points. When a Pokémon collects enough EXP. Points, it levels up. Leveling up makes your Pokémon stronger than before."

"Well, did you get that? Even if your own Pokémon's HP falls to zero, and it becomes unable to battle, not to worry! Just take it to any Pokémon Center and heal it!"

"What are status problems?"

"Today, the Poké Dude's here to tell you about status problems! Status problems include poisoning, paralysis, sleep, burn… There are a couple others, but they really are trouble. Get any one, and your Pokémon may become useless in battle. You know, it hurts the Poké Dude to see a Pokémon suffer… So, what should you do if your Pokémon gets a status problem? Well, you've got me to show you!

"Uh-oh… My Rattata has been poisoned… If a Pokémon is poisoned, it loses HP steadily. If a Pokémon develops a status proble, heal it right away. Using an item on a Pokémon uses up one turn, though. Now, it's the opponent's turn! Yay! We managed to win!"

"Poisoning or paralysis don't go away after a battle. If a Pokémon is poisoned, it loses HP even while you're walking. You should heal Pokémon of these kinds of problems right away. Use an item, or try to get to a Pokémon Center for healing. That wasn't hard, was it? All righty, be seeing you!"

"What are type matchups?"

"Does everyone know about type matchups? Pokémon and their moves all belong to certain types. For example, there are such types as Grass and Water. You need to consider the type of the move used to attack… And, the type of the Pokémon that is hit by that attack. Depending on how those two types match up, the damage can change. You see, it depends n whether the type matchup is good or bad. If you don't know how matchups work, battles will be tough. So, let me demonstrate exactly what I mean. All righty, be seeing you!"

"The move Bubble is a Water-type attack. The targeted Oddish is a Grass/Poison-type Pokémon. The Water-type attack is absorbed by the Grass-type Pokémon… As a result, the move becomes not very effective, and inflicts only half the usual damage. Uh-oh, this is not good! The Absorb attack you just saw is a Grass-type move. Poliwag is a Water-type Pokémon. So, Absorb becomes super effective, doubling the damage. It's not going to be easy to win with this matchup… Let's try shifting Pokémon! Shifting Pokémon in and out uses up one turn. Now, it's the opponent's turn. Butterfree is a Bug/Flying-type Pokémon. Against this Pokémon, a Grass-type attack……inflicts only half the usual damage on a Bug-type Pokémon… And, it also causes only half the damage on Flying-type Pokémon. Therefore, Butterfree, being a Bug/Flying Pokémon, only takes one quarter of the usual damage. Oddish is a GrassPoison Pokémon. A Flying- or Psychic-type attack is super effective against it. One of those types of attacks will inflict double the usual damage. Okay, here we go! Yeah! We won!"

"Is it possible to launch an attack that will inflict heavy damage? Does the opposing Pokémon pose a threat to your Pokémon? Is there any chance that it may have disastrously tough moves? Watch the type matchups to gain the upper hand! All righty, be seeing you! Oh, for the Cool-type Poké Dude, Awesome-type kids like you match up perfectly!"

"I want to catch Pokémon."

"Today, the Poké Dude's going to show you how to catch Pokémon! Just imagine… A groovy Pokémon suddenly appearing in the wild! Oh, you want it! You just can't help it! Oh, you have to catch it! You gotta have it! Let me show you how you can make it happen!"

"When you're trying to catch a Pokémon, don't throw any Poké Balls right away. First, you need to weaken it by reducing its HP. Okay, that should be good enough. But, if it's possible, it would be best if the target has a status problem. For instance, it would be easier to catch if it were asleep or paralyzed. This will make the Pokémon a lot easier to catch! Oh, yes. If you paralyze a Pokémon, you can't make it fall asleep on top of paralysis. In other words, you can't double up status problems, okay? Okay! Let me throw my Poké Ball! Before you throw a Poké Ball, consider the condition and the type of Pokémon, and pick the kind of Ball that would work best."

"If your first Poké Ball fails to catch the Pokémon, don't give up! Keep throwing Poké Balls… It's bound to work sometime! All righty, be seeing you!"

"Teach me about TMs."

"Hey, everyone! Do you all have TMs? A TM, Technical Machine, is an amazingly great item! It teaches Pokémon a move that it may not learn when leveling up! Isn't that just great? What a convenient world we live in! Open the TM Case and check out the TMs you have. You can check them out in detail, too."

"Normal, Water, Grass… TMs also come in types. Check the type and teach it to a Pokémon that matches up well. For example, Water Pulse is suitable for Water-type Pokémon. Bullet Seed is a move that most Grass-type Pokémon can learn. There's one other thing! Don't just look at the type, read the description, too. It will contain hints about what Pokémon might learn the move. For example, take a move like Focus Punch. It doesn't sound like anything a bird or fish Pokémon can learn. So, try using it on Pokémon with arms that can throw punches!"

"Wow, I talked a lot today! All righty, be seeing you!"

"How do I register an item?"

"A Trainer's Bag has a bunch of nifty, convenient features! Take stuff in the key items pocket, for instance. You can use a key item without opening the Bag every time. For example, let's pretend I have a Teachy TV in my Bag. I can register it for instant use, and I'll show you how!

And now, your Teachy TV is registered. How do you use it? Well, here's how it works. Once an item in the Key Items Pokcet is registered, you can use it by pressing Select. So, you've given yourself one-touch access to Teachy TV. All it takes for you to see me is pressing one button! That kind of attention is a little embarrasing! All righty, be seeing you!"

Hoenn

Generation III

Television returned in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, replacing Generation II's radio broadcasts and served a purpose unlike the Generation I TVs. They were present in most houses in Hoenn, but had a limited function, only showing programs when an event occurs, such as swarming Pokémon, or when the player changes a Pokémon's nickname at the Name Rater. They may also show interviews with the player character, who answers by selecting words from a drop-down list. When a program is airing, the television screen will flash, and will not cease flashing until the program has been watched. If an event has not happened to activate a television program, the screen will remain blank and the phrase "Mom/Dad might like this program... better get going!" will be played. The programming is organized by Hoenn TV.

Gabby interviews (In Search of Trainers)

"Hi! Today I'm visiting an area near <place fought>. We're trying to spot some up-and-coming new talent in the field. Today, we turned our lens on the Trainer <player>. There's something about this Trainer that piqued our interest."

For any battle after the first:

"We've battled <player> before, but we can attest that the Trainer has most definitely improved from before. I knew we were onto someone special when we spotted this Trainer!"

"The best way to determine how strong a Trainer is… Well, the fastest way is to battle. And so we began our investigation! … … That's how we ended up in battle with <player>. In a dominating performance we were flattened, rolled up, and tossed aside! <player> is ruthlessly strong… Here's our impressions after having battled our featured Trainer.

If Gabby and Ty were unable to land a successful attack:

"...I lost confidence in myself as a result of our encounter. We were beaten before we could launch a single attack. Ohhh... Snivel... In spite of that, <player>'s battles are worth seeing. I recommend confident Trainers to challenge <player>."

If Gabby and Ty were able to land a successful attack and none of the player's Pokémon fainted:

"The combination of <final Pokémon 1> and <final Pokémon 2> was divine! The sight of them--<final Pokémon 1> and <final Pokémon 2>--selflessly supporting each other in the thick of battle… It was a marvelous sight to behold! <finishing move> was the move the Trainer used last in our battle. The move <move> is <Pokémon> and <Pokémon>'s sign of friendship!"

If at least one of player's Pokémon fainted:

"Honestly speaking, I thought that I might even be pretty good. While we did end up losing, we did have a hotly contested battle. But if you're struggling against me, you have a ways to go, <player>!"

"After our battle, we asked <player> for a succinct summary. The Trainer replied, "<word>." <player>'s Pokémon <final Pokémon 1> and <final Pokémon 2>… And "<word>"… Mmm! That's deep! I was just your average girl until I was struck by a Thunder Shock. It was love at first sight, baby! And my target, a Gym Leader! I didn’t have any Pokémon then, but not a problem for a resourceful gal! The answer was simple—and we all know simple is best! I just had to become a Trainer. That’s all it took for me! “The Diary of a Poké Romantic” will soon make its debut! The pilot episode: “Love at First Sight: The Rules of the Move Attract!” By the way, how did everyone get their first Pokémon anyway?

After some fits and starts, a childhood friend gave me my first Pokémon! …It was a Kricketot. Except…I don’t like the legs of bugs. I bet he gave me this because I picked on him when he was little… But though the road has been long and hard, I’m finally at the starting line! Next week: “The Diary of a Poké Romantic,” episode two! “The Maiden in Love and the Kricketot: The Magic of Romance Never Ends!” Oh, this Kricketot is a female. Maybe we can be friends.

Our journey was long, and it was hard. But no one wants to hear that! So, I finally found my Gym Leader. But he has an incurable disease! He begged me, out of the blue, with his last wish. He asked for my Pokémon! But my Kricketune’s my partner! Next week: “The Diary of a Poké Romantic,” episode seven! “My Trail of Footprints Shortened the Distance Between Us!” Everytime I see Kricketune’s face, I am reminded of our time together…

My beloved Gym Leader, whom I fought so hard to meet, was a fraud! How dare he con this pure maiden! How dare he toy with my emotions! But whose fault was it? Was it mine for being taken in? All I know is that my tears overflow, and despair is my world… Next week: “The Diary of a Poké Romantic,” episode eight! “Kricketune and I! Our Bond Is True!” That Gym Leader’s eating a Giga Impact for playing me for a fool!

Having defeated the fake Gym Leader, Kricketune and I stood in a daze. We were spent. Drained by a romance that ended in a nightmare. It was then that my childhood friend, the former Bug Catcher, arrived. He did more than that. He confessed his love to me! “I wanted to become an Elite Four member, so I quit as a Gym Leader. Acrobatics	The user nimbly strikes the target. It's a technical move.	When is the right time to use this move?	Actually, when the user isn't holding any items, the power goes up.	Sometimes you are late for your friend's party, right? If you use this move, it may have a huge effect depending on your efforts.
Facade	James Movesworth's Facade! That's how you use this move.	Well… Of course, it has a meaning, doesn't it?	Actually, if you use it when you're poisoned, paralyzed or burned, the power will be doubled. It's a very heroic move.	You sometimes don't feel good when you have an appointment, right? At times like that, use this move. Apart from the fact that you won't feel good the next day, the move has great effects, at least on the surface.
False Swipe	The user restrains the move’s power, so the target won’t be wiped out and maintains at least 1 HP. It’s an obviously provocative move.	When is the right time to use the move?	Actually, it’s most effectively used on a Pokémon you want to catch.	Let’s say you have a person whom you secretly admire. If you use this move, you may get the result you want...or not.
Flame Charge	The user cloaks itself with flame and then attacks. It’s quite a hard-core move.	Cloaking itself with flame... Won’t its body get hot?	Actually, the move warms up the body nicely, and the Speed of the user goes up.	Let’s say you’re stranded on a snowy mountain. At times like that, it would be a good idea to use this move. Putting the clothes you’re wearing aside, the move has very wonderful effects.
Fling	The user quickly flings its held item at the target to attack. It’s a surprisingly sloppy move.	Its power and effects may vary, correct?	Actually, its power and effects depend on the held item.	Sometimes you have huge worries that you can’t handle just by yourself, right? Use this move, and it will relieve the tension, especially when your target isn’t preoccupied.
Grass Knot	The user snares the target with grass and causes it to trip. It’s something of a petty move.	When is the right time to use this move?	Actually, it’s best used when the target is heavier than the user!	Take yourself to the riverside and use this move. Stare at the knotted grass... You’ll feel a weight of melancholy settle on you.
Incinerate	The user attacks the target with fire. It's a gracious yet dirty move.	Which part of the move is dirty?	Actually, this move burns certain items the target holds, such as a Gem or Berry.	Sometimes you're anticipating a bad grade from an exam. At times like that, use this move. It will burn away the bad grade, but only on the paper you get back, just not in your permanent records!
Leech Seed	It plants a seed on the target and absorbs its HP every turn just little by little. It’s a surprisingly violent move.	Where does the absorbed HP go?	Actually, the user can restore its HP with the HP the move absorbed.	Use this move on a small plant pot, then look forward to checking its growth every day.
Mat Block	The user uses a flipped tatami mat as a shield to protect against the opposing Pokémon moves. This is a remarkably skillful move.	Is there anything that I should be careful about when I use it?	Actually, it can’t protect from status moves, so you can’t let your guard down.	Let’s say you have tatamis in your martial arts or yoga classroom. Use this move immediately, and you might find something extraordinary, or not.
Mystical Fire	The user attacks the target with flame from its mouth. It’s an undoubtedly fantastic move.	Which part of the move is fantastic?	Actually, the move lowers the target’s Special Attack when it’s used to attack.	When people celebrate your birthday, you blow out candles on a cake, right? Use this move to drag out the party so that you won’t feel lonely.
Payback	If the user is the second to attack, the power will be doubled. It's a moderately stoic move.	What will happen if both parties use this move?	Actually, the slower your Speed is, the more advantage this move has.	If you use this move on a person who helped you out previously… you'll repay kindness with injury.
Pin Missile	The user shoots sharp spikes at the target in rapid succession. It's a wonderfully relaxing move.	In succession… How long does it last?	Actually, the user can attack two to five times in a row.	When the target has a severe shoulder ache or backache, use this move for acupuncture. It's very soothing, except when it hits a wrong spot.
Psybeam	The user emits a beam of mysterious light. It’s a mildly psychedelic move.	Psychedelic... Doesn’t it sound a bit dangerous?	Actually, it can leave the target confused, too.	When you want to concentrate, like to prepare for an exam, use this move. It has great effects, except for the people around you.
Quick Attack	The user can strike first for sure. It's a plainly natural move.	What if both parties use this move?	Actually, the one with higher Speed can strike first.	When there is only one seat left in a train, casually use this move. If you don't care what other people think, the move has very good effects.
Retaliate	The user gets revenge for an ally that fainted. It’s an unexpectedly heroic move.	When is the right time to use this move?	Actually, if an ally fainted in the previous turn, the user’s power will be doubled.	Sometimes, say in a judo tournament, the teammate ahead of you loses, even though he/she tried his/her best, right? If you use this move at a time like that, the anger you feel enhances your power.
Round	The user attacks the target with a song. It's a very rocking move.	Attack with a song… It doesn't sound like a strong move.	Actually, if somebody uses this move, others can join in the Round, and the power goes up. In fact, it's a very powerful move.	Sometimes you and your friend like the same person. If you use this move after your friend tells how he feels to the person, your friendship will be over, but the move is very effective.
Spiky Shield	The user protects itself from the opposing Pokémon’s attack while lowering the opposing Pokémon’s HP on contact.	Is there anything you should be careful about when you use it?	Actually, if you use this move again immediately after you successfully use it, the success rate will drop to one third.	You sometimes play goalie in soccer, right? During a game, use this move. You’ll have no problem catching and holding on to the ball!
U-turn	After making its attack, the user rushes back and switches places with another Pokémon. It’s a brisk and impetuous move.	When is the right time to use this move?	It’s particularly effective when the user can’t switch places with a party Pokémon due to an opposing Pokémon’s Ability.	Sometimes you get assigned an extra shift when you’re doing a part-time job. Use this move, and at least you can enjoy a relaxing day off.
Water Pulse	It attacks the target with a pulsing blast of water. It’s a surprisingly healthy move.	How strong is the pulsing water?	Actually, it’s so strong that it can confuse the target.	Some fathers come home feeling very tired, right? At times like that, use this move, and you can massage him to sleep. It works very well.
Water Shuriken	Shurikens are made of compressed sticky liquid, and the user throws them at the target in succession. It’s a critical move in a way.	In succession... How long does it last?	Actually, the user can attack two to five times in a row.	You know how when you’re washing your hair, sometimes the water pressure isn’t strong enough? That’s when you can use this move, and then you don’t have to rinse your hair!

Koukan Talk is a program hosted by Azusa or Toru that explains how to use the Japanese language on certain occasions.

Azusa: KONNICHIWA, yo! Are you overflowing with GENKI? It’s time for this week’s highly anticipated “KOUKAN TALK”! This is today’s phrase: “Your Pokémon is cute!” This is a phrase you want to try out! So, what’s the right way to say it? “Kawaii Pokémon da ne!” Ka-wah-ii po-kay-mo-n da nay! With this you can flatter that person you like! YATTA! Trading Pokémon internationally is sure great! Tee hee! OK, be sure to watch again! MATA KONDO!

Azusa: OSSU, everybody! Are you so GENKI it’s causing everyone else trouble? It’s time for this week’s highly anticipated “KOUKAN TALK”! This is today’s phrase: “Where did you come from?” This is handy! You’ll want to know where your opponent is from! If you want to say this in Japanese, it’s like this! “Doko kara kita no?” Do-ko ka-ra kee-ta no? After that, there’s no doubt you’ll have fun talking about where you’re from! Yeah! OK, so, MATA NE! Bye-bye!

Azusa: Yoo-hoo, MINNA! Today I’m a little wound up, so let’s get this “KOUKAN TALK” started! This week’s phrase is this: “What’s your favorite Pokémon?” So what will this sound like in Japanese? “Ichiban suki na Pokémon wa?” Ii-chee-ban su-kee nah po-kay-mo-n wah? So this useful phrase goes like this in Japanese! “Sore doko de mitsuketano?” So-re do-ko de mee-tsu-kay-ta no? When I meet Trainers with a cute <player's lead Pokémon>, I ask them that right away! So with that, MATA ITSUKA AIMASHO! And adios!

Azusa: Hello, MINNA! It’s time for “KOUKAN TALK”! This week’s phrase is: “Nice meeting you”! Use this when parting with someone you just met! At times like this, I say: “Shiri aete yokatta!” Shee-ree ah-e-te yo-ka ta! It’s even better when you say this along with a firm handshake! OK, that’s it for today! JA NE!

Azusa: OSSU, MINNA! Yesterday, I fell in love with a TOTTEMO KAWAII Pokémon in the Musical! This is what you say at that time! “I became your fan!” After that, I told it this in Japanese. “Anata no fan ni narimashita!” Ah-nah-ta no fa-n nee na-ri-ma-shee-ta! It was cute! So utterly KAWAII! My beloved <player's lead Pokémon>! Your double-flip jump is just too adorable to be legal! On that note, I’m going to the Musical again today! JA NE!

Today’s phrase is perfect for when two people’s thoughts match up, as if by telepathy! “I was thinking the same thing!” “Chodo onaji koto kangaeteta!” Choh-do o-na-gee ko-to ka-n-ga-eh-te-ta! When I say this, the conversation always picks up steam, and then it can’t stop! For that reason, that’s it for today! JA MATA NE!

Recently, on the way back from the Musical, someone said this to me: “Your Pokémon looks different!” “Kawatta Pokémon da ne!” Ka-wa ta po-kay-mo-n da nay! I thought it could be a joke, but when I looked at <player's lead Pokémon>...BIKKURI! It was still wearing Props from the Musical! I forgot to take them off! Oops! That would look strange! HAI! Today, I’ll teach you this question to ask when you see a Pokémon that you are interested in! “Where did you catch that Pokémon?” “Sono Pokémon doko de tsukamaeta no?” So-no po-kay-mo-n do-ko de tsu-ka-mah-e-ta no? Television in Diamond and Pearl

In Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum television screens flash constantly. Jubilife TV produces many television programs broadcast all around the Sinnoh region, including the Trend Tracker show, Trainer Research, and Sinnoh Now. Each program includes information about events happening around Sinnoh, including swarming Pokémon and weather affecting different routes. They may also contain information about the player which is customizable by speaking to a number of interviewers which can be found scattered around the region. Like in the previous generation, the answers to the interviewers' questions are limited, but more answers can be added by learning trendy phrases in Snowpoint City. At the conclusion of each program, a series of advertisements can be watched.

The events of the main storyline in Diamond and Pearl are encouraged by a television program, The Search for the Red Gyarados. Later, at the Survival Area, the player will encounter the cameraman responsible for this story. In Platinum, this person can be found blocking the entrance to Lake Valor hoping to see Azelf before Team Galactic detonates the Galactic Bomb there.

There is also a TV in the Old Chateau which contains a wild Rotom at night (after obtaining the National Pokédex in Diamond and Pearl, and at any time in Platinum).

Unova

In Pokémon Black and White, televisions show a variety of different programs. The type of television shows that are broadcast at any particular instance depend on the in-game time.

For the first ten minutes of every hour, documentaries and a cartoon focusing on the player character are broadcast. Each program acts as a view of in-game statistics, telling the player how many times he/she has had a Pokémon flee, how much money he/she has spent at shops, how many Trainers and Pokémon he/she has defeated, and so on.

From ten minutes past to thirty-five minutes past each hour, educational shows are broadcast. These are "The Waving Weaving Walk", which describes various Abilities; "Moves for Living", which describes various moves that are new to the game; and "What's That?", which inspects held items that are new to the games.

For the last twenty-five minutes of each hour, other shows such as human interest pieces are broadcast; these include "Eyes on Unova", "Your Pokémon", "Personality Assessment and Horoscope", "National Gymquirer", and "Unova News". Other programs shown at this time are "Koukan Talk", which teaches Japanese in the North American games; and "PokéQuiz", which quizzes three kids on the Japanese names of Pokémon. There are even infomercials advertising overpriced items.

In Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, all the previous shows are retained, and new shows, such as "The Pokémon Whisperer" and "The Pokémon Live Sports Broadcast" have been added. Instead of airing programs based on the hour, the player can choose from three channels to watch: Celebrity, Battle, and Variety.

Cloud Nine	Cloud Nine is great for travelers. It prevents effects from weather!
Contrary	Contrary makes stat changes go topsy-turvy! For example, if a Pokémon with Contrary gets hit by a move that lowers its Speed, it will have the opposite effect! That's right. Its Speed will increase!
Cursed Body	If a Pokémon with Cursed Body is damaged by a move, sometimes that move can be disabled so the foe can't use it anymore!
Damp	If a Pokémon with Damp is in battle, moves like Explosion and Selfdestruct can't be used.
Download	A Pokémon with Download can take advantage of its opponent's weaknesses. If the opponent's Defense is lower than its Sp. Def, the Pokémon's Attack will be boosted. If the opponent's Sp. Def is lower than its Defense, the Pokémon's Sp. Atk will be boosted.
Dry Skin	Pokémon with Dry Skin just love water, because they recover HP if they get wet. So if they get hit by a Water-type move or go out in the rain, they feel better! Unfortunately, Fire-type moves do extra damage and sunny days hurt, too.
Harvest	If a Pokémon with Harvest eats a Berry during battle, the Berry may regenerate at the end of the turn! It's like an all-you-can-eat Berry buffet!
Klutz	Held items have no effect on a Pokémon with Klutz. It could even hold an Iron Ball without being weighed down!
Lightningrod	If a Pokémon with Lightningrod is in battle, any Electric-type move will hit it. And getting hit by an Electric-type move boosts the Pokémon's Sp. Atk stat!
Magic Bounce	Magic Bounce works like the move Magic Coat, but it's "on" all the time!
Mold Breaker	A Pokémon with Mold Breaker can completely ignore its opponent's Ability when attacking.
Moody	During a battle, Moody raises one stat and lowers another at the end of each turn.
Pickup	A Pokémon with Pickup can get the effect of an item an opponent has used in battle. It also picks up various items when it is not battling.
Prankster	Prankster gives priority to status moves like Screech!

Your Pokémon is a program about Pokémon who have unique traits, such as eating lots of food.

Patrat	Peeps	Striaton City	In a two-story home in Striaton City, the Patrat called Peeps lives with its Trainer. Its Trainer is also a Pokémon Breeder who is raising many Pokémon! And when its Trainer is really busy, Peeps lends a hand...or a paw! It plays with all the other Pokémon to give them some exercise and sometimes even gets them to settle down for the night. Today, Peeps has started a lively game of tag with some of the other Pokémon its Trainer is taking care of. They'll sleep well tonight after all that running!
Zweilous	Chow	Opelucid City	Near the gate of Opelucid City, the Zweilous Chow lives with its Trainer. Both Chow and its Trainer really love to eat! Anything you serve them, they'll gobble it right up. They even compete against each other in eating contests. Back when Chow was a Deino, its Trainer could eat faster... but now that Chow has evolved into a Zweilous, it has an extra mouth, so that's a big advantage! It's built up quite a winning streak with its two hungry hungry heads. That was the Zweilous, Chow, who eats a lot, but not as much as my Zweilous. On the next "Your Pokémon," we will introduce a Pokémon that is amazing... but, of course, not as amazing as mine!
Minccino	Julie	Nimbasa City	It's waiting in the wings in the Nimbasa City Musical for its cue to go on stage. This Minccino is named Julie! Julie and its Trainer have put so much effort into training for the Musical. They've worked really hard! And for Julie, the goal every day is to be the one that gets the most time in the spotlight! Julie and its Trainer have a real fire in their hearts when it comes to performing! That was the Minccino Julie, who stands out, just not as much as my Minccino. On the next "Your Pokémon," we will introduce a Pokémon that's really good at napping, but not as good as mine!
Darumaka	Gance	Castelia City	In a Castelia City office building, a Darumaka named Gance is having a Pokémon battle. Its Trainer is a Clerk ♂ who works in the building. This company takes Pokémon battles very seriously. In fact, work schedules, meeting agendas, and other important matters are all decided by battles! And so its Trainer won't have to work on weekends or do really boring jobs, Gance does its very best in every battle. The Darumaka Gance is a Pokémon with fighting spirit, but not as much as my Darumaka! On the next "Your Pokémon," we will introduce a Pokémon that stands out, but not as much as mine!
Purrloin	Meg	Nacrene City	In Nacrene City's old warehouses, the Purrloin Meg lives with its Trainer. Meg's Trainer runs a store, and every morning, Meg goes to work with her. At the store, Meg is its Trainer's partner! It sits outside as a mascot and draws customers into the store. Today, it's even carrying a sign for the store to attract even more customers! That was the Purrloin Meg, who works hard, but not as hard as my Purrloin. On the next "Your Pokémon," we will introduce a little Pokémon with a lot of fighting spirit, but not as much as mine!
Cubchoo	Kodie	Driftveil City	In a small house in Driftveil City, the Cubchoo named Kodie lives with its Trainer. Kodie's Trainer is a Worker in the Cold Storage. Kodie tags along to work and takes a nap right there in the Cold Storage. Even when it's cold enough that its Trainer's teeth are chattering, Kodie naps away in perfect comfort! That was Kodie, who's very relaxed, but not as relaxed as my Cubchoo! On the next "Your Pokémon," we will introduce a Pokémon that is patient, but not as patient as mine!

Kalos

In Pokémon X and Y, televisions show a variety of different programs. Unlike in Generation V, the television shows that are broadcast do not depend on the in-game time and are completely random (though the player will never watch the same program twice in a row). If the player watches the same television and does not exit the room, repeats of an episode they have already watched won't reappear. If all episodes of a program have been watched, the television broadcast will skip that program entirely and move on to another un-watched program; these cannot be viewed again until the player exits the room.

In Gym Freaks, the Gym Leader April interviews will always be rotated around in a certain order every time, moving in Badge order from the beginning. Each Gym Leader has two different possible commentaries, and after one of these is watched the other one can be viewed after cycling though the other Gym Leaders until the player returns to the same Gym Leader they started with.

In the anime

Television has been present in the anime since the first episode, where Ash saw a Pokémon League battle on television. Ash and his traveling companions have met several television and film producers on their journeys, but televisions remained largely unseen until the Advanced Generation series.

Max mentioned watching the Silver Conference on television when he first meets Ash in There's no Place Like Hoenn!, and thus learned a lot about him. Several characters mention watching Pokémon Contests and Grand Festivals on TV, and in Saved by the Beldum! several supporting characters watch Ash's battle on TV. Like in the games, Sinnoh Now is broadcast in the Sinnoh region, with host Rhonda.
