Dex Entry

Apparently, we have a confirmed dex entry? I've seen it reported but found no source, so if anyone wants to go looking for that - it should be out there. Me, Hurray! 16:54, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

About its National number

Yeah, I know, it's #000 while Tsutarja's #001. Just because of this we cannot assume that it comes before Tsutarja in the National Dex. Tsutarja's staying numbered 494, Pokabu 497, and Mijumaru 500 until we find out otherwise. Because remember, Arceus and other non-Johto Pokémon are #000 if they're caught by hacking before getting the National Dex. Hell, in all honesty, Victini may indeed be #000 in the National Dex, too. TTEchidna 00:28, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Couldn't they have just said that so we won't know how many new Pokémon they'll have? That makes sense to me. ----Zewis (29) 13:04, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Highly likely. I hear the number's something like 160... more than Kanto brought us, even. TTEchidna 09:06, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

user page

why is this article part of a user page? Breawycker 21:25, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm not Sol, but it is because these pages must be created in the userspace for inspection before they are mainspaced. Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 21:27, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Legendary

Didn't it say somewhere that Victini was a "mirage Pokémon"? — AxxonntheAwesometrainer 22:04, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

I added that it was a legendary Pokémon, since that's all that's listed for other legendary Pokémon articles. ~ solaris 22:16, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Unknown-type

The article should not link to Unknown (type), since it implies that Victini has that as its type when really its type is not known. --Transfinite | Talk 12:04, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

If its type were ???, it would be listed as ???, not Unknown. Unknown means we do not know it. --SnorlaxMonster 12:06, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah. But it still redirects to that type. Either the link or the redirect should be deleted in order to avoid this kind of confusion. --Maxim 12:53, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
It shouldn't be linking at all. We should have a template default set to not link. --SnorlaxMonster 13:09, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Liberty Ticket

Should it be noted that Victini is only the second Pokémon of illusions (the group with Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, etc.) to have an event item to trigger its appearance in-game in its original generation? Yes, there was the ticket to the island to get Mew in Gen III, but as far as original generations go, there's this and there was the GS Ball available through the cell phone connection thing in Japanese Pokémon Crystal. And that didn't even make it out of Japan, whereas the Liberty Ticket will likely see worldwide distribution via Wi-Fi.--PhantomJunkie 17:37, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Manaphy Egg... Oak's Letter...--immewnitythemew 18:07, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Wasn't aware Shaymin was part of the "Pokemon of Illusions" group, so never mind. Also, I thought the Manaphy egg hatched into the Manaphy, rather than causing the Manaphy to appear in the wild so that it can be caught. There's a difference there.--PhantomJunkie 20:08, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Oak's Letter was for Shaymin, not Manaphy. --Crimsonnavy 10:06, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Type

Victini's type is Psychic/Fire.

I've updated it for him.. Sorry Sol if you mind! --S2daam 13:30, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Hey, can someone please change the type effectiveness to this to match the type:

{{DP type effectiveness| type1=Psychic| type2=Fire| Normal= 100 | Fighting= 50 | Flying= 100 | Poison= 100 | Ground= 200 | Rock= 200 | Bug= 100 | Ghost= 200 | Steel= 50 | Fire= 50 | Water= 200 | Grass= 50 | Electric= 100 | Psychic= 50 | Ice= 50 | Dragon= 100 | Dark= 200 }} ? Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 14:16, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Also, that picture shows that Victini's ability is Victory Star. --Shiny Noctowl 16:43, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

In the trivia it says Victini is the only Psycic/fire type. I think it may be a bit to early to call this fact becaus we do not know about all the new pokemon yet. - unsigned comment from EpicShadow (talkcontribs)

I guess that's true. I've commented out the trivia until there's definite evidence. :P ~ solaris 19:09, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
We could make it say like "Victini is the only currently known Psychic/Fire Pokémon", which leaves a bit more room for Pokémon to be revealed later with the same type combination, we just don't know about them yet. I'm cool with just commenting it out for now though. --ZestyCactus 19:12, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Redirects

I don't have the authority to creat them, apparently, so should/can someone create the basic redirects. You know, Victini and Victini (Pokemon). Thanks, Samjohn95 00:25, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

ビクティニ also doesn't redirect to this article, and such. Anyone mind doing that too? Rai Marshall 23:46, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Origin

I once explained this in the talk page of the Bulbanews article about it, I'm just going to copy and paste what I said here.

"He's going on about a possible origin of Victini. From what I've seen with its appearance AND name, Victini's origin may be derived from the concept of being victorious, possibly a reference that one may feel victorious once obtaining all of the necessary requirements to obtain a certain legendary and then obtaining said legendary. In this case, Victini needs the letter to be obtained.

Further more, it does have a lot of references to the letter V in its appearance. Its ears are V shaped, it has a V shape on its chest, and it's also holding up two fingers. While in America where holding up two fingers would mean 'peace', in Japan doing so would mean victory. So as previously stated, 'V for Victory'. I find all of this to be relevant."

In short, Victini is likely derived from the concept of victory, with some rodent-like features. It could also have some traits of foxes, but I personally believe that its origin is the concept of victory, if anything really. Rai Marshall 00:25, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

If victory(V) is shown by the finger, it becomes a meaning of two(ni). It seems to relate to the origin of the name of Victi"ni". Sawamular101 01:10, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
While it can mean two, in any given country, it is also commonly used to refer to as "V for Victory". Even some Americans think that way too. Coupled with the references to V and its species name, I still do believe it is also based on the concept of victory. Rai Marshall 01:34, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Because Species is a victory Pokemon(しょうりポケモン), your idea is correct.Sawamular101 01:45, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

A part of origin of Victini. It might be "うさぎリンゴ(usagi ringo /rabbit Apple)".

Usagi ringo is traditionally a popular item for Japanese children’s box lunches. It is guessed that Victini looks like the rabbit because of relating to rabbit-Apple.

Well, I'm convinced on the rabbit part. Rai Marshall 00:35, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Oh right, I've been meaning to add in the usagi ringo origin. Thanks for the reminder. :D 梅子 01:11, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
