Speed isn't something that directly affects the tide of a battle. Someone can ignore if someone's bulkier looking, or a little more sturdy looking...but it's hard to ignore if someone's speed just picks up randomly Myrmidon 23:16, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I think speed cant be ignored by the same mechanic

Also, Unaware starts where Bibarel begins. There's no reason the other pokemon wouldn't still do its own thing normally before it gets to Bibarel. Although it should work differently if there were a reverse Gyro Ball of sorts the opponent could use on Bibarel. --PLA 17:14, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

What if there's was already a stat change before the "Simple" pokemon enters the battle

Say a Scizor is in a battle between a Blissey and the Scizor uses Iron Defense one turn and on the next turn, the Blissey switches out and in come in a Bibarel. Would Scizor's stat stay at +2 or would ir revert back to neutral? - unsigned comment from Shadrio (talk • contribs)

I think they mean Unaware. If I understand it properly Scizor wouldn't revert to normal anyway, it just isn't counted when Bibarel attacks, so if it was a double battle the Iron Defense would still reduce the damage done by the other Pokémon, as well as confusion damage, but not the damage done by a Bibarel with Unaware. I.e. when Bibarel attacks, any of the enemy's stat changes are ignored, but the enemy still retains those stat changes. Werdnae (talk) 02:12, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Now, what about when Bibarel is on the defensive? Say a Charizard Belly-drummed then attacks with a physical move, does Bibarel receive damage as if Charizard's attack hadn't been increased? Wikifixer 06:17, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Japanese name

Considering the effect of the ability and the official translation, I think the current translation of the Japanese name is a bit off. I think the name is referring to 天然ボケ (tennen boke, natural boke), which can be abbreviated to 天然 (てんねん) among younger generations.

In Japan comic duos are often formed by a boke and a tsukkomi. The boke acts simpleminded and makes dumb mistakes, to which the tsukkomi react with verbal and/or physical abuse. While a normal boke only acts this way, a so-called natural boke are actual airheads that invite such tsukkomi reactions unconsciously.

I think this makes more sense than the current translation "spontaneity", but I can't find a good English translation that reflects this meaning of the word. Natural airhead? Simpleton?

Allies

If the Pokémon with this Ability attacks or is attacked by an ally, are their stat changes ignored? The current text of the articles seems to indicate that it is, but the Ability description specifies "opposing Pokémon" in Gen VI (whereas most Abilities have intentionally had "foe" and similar terms changed to "target", when applicable). --SnorlaxMonster 14:03, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Gyro Ball and Electro Ball

If an opponent attacks a Pokémon with Unaware with Gyro Ball or Electro Ball, or a Pokémon with Unaware uses Gyro Ball or Electro Ball, are any Speed stat changes the opponent has ignored? --SnorlaxMonster 14:03, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Power Trip
