Game locations

You know, I still don't see how it can be found in the Great Marsh. Look at its Dex area in the game, it says Area Unknown. Kangaskhan doesn't, and it's one of the Post-NDex rare Pokémon.

I'm inclined to say the same about Tangela, that it can't be found in DP... TTEchidnaGSDS! 22:45, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Name

Isn't it possible that the name could have come (directly or indirectly) from the genuine ancient reptile Tanystropheus (Tropius is surely a homophone with the tropheus bit) which apparently means 'Long Necked One'? --NeilTarrant 13:47, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

I suppose... TTEchidnaGSDS! 23:49, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Triffid

It seems to me that Tropius share many characteristics with the fictional animal/plant hybrids known as triffids: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:JohnWyndham_TheDayOfTheTriffids.jpg

Perhaps this article should be updated to reflect this if enough people are in agreement? Quadropheneom 17:19, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Leaf storm

Wait, why is this move listed as an egg move? I mean Tropius can learn it by level up. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 01:04, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

It means you don't have to train Tropius up to level 71.--Den Zen 07:45, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
Wait a minute, can't that apply to every move learned by leveling up? I might be wrong though. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 22:13, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

Incorrect Base Capture Probability

Minimum probability is 1/3 * Base, which for tropius is 0.667, page says it is 0.261. Yet to check if it's on any other Pokemon, Pokepro97 (talk) 11:33, 28 May 2014 (UTC).

Edit: Calculations directly from the catch rate formula appear to give very high catch rates, formula here. Formula in my spreadsheet where each cell reference is to a cell with the appropriate data to prove my math is correct:

   =MIN((((((3*$B$2-2*$B$2*F4)*$C$2*D4)/(3*$B$2))*E4)/100),(1))
