i remember in the chronicle episode ""oaknapped"" tracey calls sparky...."o so 'miss little pikachu here must be sparky"..is it possible sparky's a girl?? Ritchie
- Actually, I recall the phrase being "this little Pikachu must be Sparky". The word "this", of course, is gender-neutral. --Shiningpikablu252 21:27, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Gender...
I don't remember Puka having been said to be male,so I suppose it is refered to as male due to it's japanese name. What about Sparky,Leon is definatly a male name. Though,I do know people who do name female Pokemon male names,and vice versa Lovely Rose 23:32, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

probably male,knowing that ritchie is a parallell to ash and the fact that a female pikachu has shown up in the anime. we know that ash's pikachu is male,so ritchie's sparky probably is male,too.
