Missing Rest
Shouldn't Rest be on here? Tesh 16:19, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- The list is of moves that "put their targets to sleep" but Rest probably deserves a mention. --FabuVinny T-C-S 18:25, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
WHAT?
Who the hell linked files? They aren't uploaded on Archives (which are locked now) ._. Marked +-+-+ 19:37, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
More Statistics Please
For example, it says "Sleep lasts 1-7 turns," but it gives no information about the chances of waking up each of these turns. Hank (talk) 07:22, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- The phrase "a random number of turns" means that the Pokémon is just as likely to wake up on the third turn as any other turn. Statistically, each turn has a 1 in 7 chance of ending sleep. The same math applies to the other generations. Also, sign your comments with --~~~~. —TheVeryBest 07:12, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- That makes sense, thanks. Is it an equal chance for each duration of sleep? Hank (talk) 07:22, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yes… Why wouldn't it be? It's not like a multi-strike move that has different probabilities for the amount of strikes. In Gen VI, each turn has a 1 in 3 chance, and so on. —TheVeryBest 15:40, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Sleeping turns
UPC suggests a different number of turns asleep in Gen II-IV (here, for example). They're sometimes way off, though, so I'm currently not confident enough to replace our current values. Can somebody please verify or back up what they say, or be sure we're wrong or they're right:
- Gen II: Sleep now lasts 2-7 turns (2-4 in Pokémon Stadium 2), including waking up turn
- Gen III: still 2-7
- Gen IV: still 2-7 turns, but 3-7 in Japanese DP Nescientist (talk) 21:57, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
- UPC is not a reliable source. Correct durations:
- Gen II: 1-6 turns (duration 2-7), 1-3 turns in Battle Tower (duration 2-4)
- Gen III: 1-4 turns (duration 2-5)
- Gen IV: http://www.smogon.com/dp/articles/status#sleep (if that is needed, I can quick disassemble that part in DP when I have the time)
- Gen V: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/past-gen-rng-research.61090/page-31#post-3698857

- That's incredibly useful, thanks.
- I can't really verify everything for Gen II without detailed knowledge of the other variables/functions, but I guess you know what you're saying (especially when it matches what UPC says).
- Other than that, I think I've updated everything correctly, and so it's easy to understand.
- If you have a something that proves the Japanese DP count (and that it is different) that is not limited to Smogon members, please feel free to add it. The reference that was here was not public. Nescientist (talk) 12:12, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
