Wild Pokémon using Run Away

When I was playing Platinum, I encountered a wild Ratatta. It fainted one of my Pokémon and when I tried to escape, I couldn't. However, the message "The wild Ratatta fled!" appeared on screen after this and the battle ended. I'm assuming it had the ability Run Away, and if that's true, then in how many generations can wild Pokémon use the ability? Does anyone know? AGGRON989 20:55, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

I was able to replicate this somewhat against a wild Raticate in Diamond (I checked its Ability with Trace to make sure it was Run Away). As far as I can tell, it wasn't that my attempt to flee failed, but that its Run Away Ability caused the success message to be displayed as "The wild Raticate fled." I think this is simply an error in the displayed message. --SnorlaxMonster 18:48, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
Yes, consistently, whenever I fled after a Pokémon of mine fainted against an opponent with Run Away, the message "The wild <opponent> fled." was displayed. --SnorlaxMonster 16:51, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
