Do we really need that big list for Gen II? - Chosen
Well, it all depends on whether all of the Pokemon in Gen.II can learn this attack. <small><span style="color:#FF594F;">TESH</span></small><small><span style="color:#5FA7C6;">TALK</span></small> 16:11, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Any Pokémon that can learn TMs can learn Return and Frustration.  It's always been that way, and I think it's safe to assume it'll always be that way (unless they decide to pull another Regigigas on us with them like they did with Rest and Protect...). おんがえし (恩返し) does not simply mean return. I think it would be worthwhile to point out that it means repaying a favor/kindness, which makes more sense in relation to the move than the current vague translation IMHO. I say at least make it return favor or something. --BlackySully 00:05, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

:You're reading it wrong. Take out the parts in brackets, which are there as explanation, and you get The base power of Return varies between 0 and 102. 102 is the maximum power, which occurs at maximum happiness. The Happiness value ranges from 0 to 255 (one byte). 255/2.5 = 102. <span class="sc"><span style="color:#2D4B98;">Werdnae</span></span> <small><span style="color:#009000;">(talk)</span></small> 19:22, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

What exactly would the power level be for a wild ditto that uses return? -Unendingfear (talk) 06:24, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
:Not really about the article, but checking the List of Pokémon by base friendship gives a wild Ditto a friendship of 70. Thus, 70 divided by 2.5 should make the Base Power likely be 28.  --Super goku (talk) 08:56, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
::I did some trials in LeafGreen, and I successfully narrowed down the possible base friendship used to be between 58 and 72. Since my Pokemon hatched from an Egg recently and not having fainted (making it's friendship around 120), it hasn't been copied from it. The only reasonable value in that range to be used is Ditto's base friendship, so I think it is a reasonable assumption to state that wild Pokémon use their base friendship for Return/Frustration. Unfortunately, since I used Azurill, I don't know if Ditto used its base friendship or Azurill's, but I would assume it would be Ditto's since it didn't copy my current amount. --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 09:56, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

How well does this work in a link battle? I know Friendship and Affection are two different things, but the benefits of affection are not carried into Link battles so I am wondering if its the same for Friendship benefits. Is it worth making a Pokémon like you, or can you just stick them with Return (or maybe even frustration) and it work about the same in a link battle? :I have never heard it working any different than it works in-game.  Moves that are affected by friendship are completely different since beyond evolution, it's solely used to affect the power of moves, while affection allows Pokémon to dodge even 100% accuracy moves, early healing from statuses among other things. --<span style="color:#009900">It's</span> <span style="color:#CC66FF">Funktastic~!</span><small><span style="color:#99CCFF">話してください</span></small> 21:35, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
