Should information about Blue/Green from the manga appearing in the opening be mentioned? According to Wikipedia: "It is interesting to note that she [Green], Red, and Blue appeared in the original American Red and Blue pamphlets with their starter pokemon (she had her Squirtle, Red his Bulbasaur, and Blue his Charmander) but few knew who she was and she had her back to the reader. Also, in the beginning of the first anime series Pikachu runs between her legs (again, to the confusion of American viewers-she was never seen in the anime and was not explained, many thought she was just a Lass.)" No! Bulbapedia isn't reliable source on the Point of Pokemon! It's full of fake informations and hopeless speculations! I'll never believe that she's Blue from PokeSpe! Look at her and Look at Blue! They don't ever look alike! I believe in popular speculation that she's plain Lass (miniskirt, cute clothing and really Lass-ish design) I have an early Sugimori Art of Lass and I also have the early Sugimori Art of Red, Green and Blue with their Starters so I know it better. Blue is seen only from behind but she has completely different hair and black clothes. So, we can be sure that she's not Blue. She's likely to be Lass. And a small Trivia. She is actually seen in anime. She's got a few cameos in few episodes in Pokemon Center and other crowded places (like the not-so-famous "Boy in Hat"). - Maxim

Other Language Lyrics

Error

This article includes a bit on Meowth's missing fang in the opening. Considering that scene was used in the Mezase Pokemon Master opening, shouldn't that bit of trivia go there instead of here? Mudkipchan 16:15, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Maybe a head-on comparison should be in order. If we look at around 0:40-0:41 in this video of the US opening, we see the fang missing as Meowth jumps into the frame. The comparable scene from the Japanese opening is in this video from 0:45-0:46; however, the "missing fang" is obscured by the onscreen lyrics. (The visuals are what's important here; the needless censor bleeps in the first video and what happens when you click the soccer ball in the second are not important in the least.)

My 2¢: No, the trivia should not be mentioned on the Japanese page instead of the English one. In addition to, maybe, but definitely not instead of. Yes, I do believe the "missing fang" was there in the original Japanese iteration (UPDATE 23:07, 4 July 2010 (UTC): Caught the missing fang in a lyricless Chinese sequence using the uncut Japanese video footage), but it's actually more noticable in the US opening because of the lack of onscreen lyrics. --Shiningpikablu252 17:33, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

"Each" or "Teach"

The only other source I can think of is the lyrics booklet to the CD version of Pokémon 2.B.A. Master, but alas, the cassette version has no lyrics and I bought my CD used so it has no booklet. So unless someone has the booklet and it contradicts my book, we'll stick with "each". It's the only printed source we have. --ZestyCactus 01:01, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

For the record, the word is 'sense' and the Japanese writers have little control over what the dub's lyrics are. Anyway, this discussion seems to be over, since there's that book. I'd like to add that I was recently researching this- and I stumbled upon the lyrics of the spanish version, quote: "Enseñe a Pokémon de entender / El poder que hay dentro" which literally translates to "Teach Pokémon to understand / The power that's inside". The verb Enseñar = "to teach". Also, I definitely believe the syntax with "teach" makes much more sense. Pookiemons 05:39, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

I got tired of this argument and decided to email the source and tracked down John Loeffler's current company and contact information. One of his assistants got back to me and relayed the message. I'll post both my query and the response below, with personal details removed, of course.

I am a theatre technician within the Boston area with a huge interest in video games. Approaching some of the history of a series fond to me, Pokemon, I discovered that you had written the Pokemon theme song to the English dub for the show. I wanted to both congratulate you on such great success, and ask a question that has been tearing the internet apart for years: According to your best memory of the lyrics of the song, are you "teaching Pokemon to understand" or "Each Pokemon to understand the power that's inside".

This conflict has caused massive fanbase arguments and problems interpreting which was meant. I figured what better way to find an answer to this dilemma than to contact the source directly and ask.

I appreciate your time and assistance in putting this matter to rest.

Despite the multiple websites that have it written incorrectly, John confirmed that the correct lyric is " TEACH "

Ash was seen riding on a Lapras. I know it wasn't until next season but this could be referring to Ash's temporary capture of Lapras. So I think we should list the Lapras as (Ash's). I can't see him, is it just the colors?

Ok, I wanna talk to whoever said the Lucario is seen Mega Evolving in the XY English opening. I showed the opening to my Pokemon friends irl and they said they couldn't see Lucario. Yes, there is a brief moment with Mega Lucario's colors and the Mega Evolution symbol, but it could not have been confirmed as Mega Lucario unless more physical features are shown. Even I looked over and over to the moment where Pikachu uses Electro Ball and the Mega Evolution moment. Thus, it's quite uncertain if it is Lucario Mega Evolving primarily because of the colors shown. The Seeker (talk) 20:10, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

XY Version Lyrics Each vs Teach

Hi, I started a new discussion thread since I think the old one was pertaining to the older version of this song. Is it OK if I change the lyrics in the XY remix Movie version to "Each Pokémon" rather than "Teach Pokémon" as it not only sounds like "each" but is also confirmed in the Netflix closed captioning. The XY theme is literally the first theme song, so they technically should have similar lyrics. We have official email confirmation that the word is "teach" (for the first song), so we go with what it is officially.
