Just wondering where Abra and Phanpy are coming from, as Pokémon Forever states "If the wild Pokémon is Magnemite, Grimer, Tangela, Mr.Mime, Eevee, Porygon, Dratini, or Dragonair, then Catch Rate = Catch Rate * 4.0. Please note that while these Pokémon have a greater chance to catch, not all of them can be found in the wild." Jshadias 09:53, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I'm curious, too. I see various sites that say things like "Pokemon who can run away, like Teddiursa, Tangela, or Raikou", but the game stores a list of Pokemon whom the ball works better on, and that's what I used on PokéFor. --Meowth346 21:09, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)

In that case, somebody remove the two offending, untrue Pogeys?

And Abra really shouldn't be on that list, as it uses Teleport; it doesn't actually run away... Evkl 21:45, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC) Teleport counts, though. The quick ball worked on Abra.Nintendofan146B 20:17, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Should Anime-only Balls be included in this? I'm thinking of the Dark Balls and whatever it was that Sammy used from movie 4--BJG

There was the Dark Ball and the GS Ball. That's all there have been. I think they would make a useful addition, though. Fabu-Vinny 19:22, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

TCG sections

Shouldn't the page give hyper links to all of the Poké Balls featured in the cards? Mr. Bell 08:49, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Hyper Ball in manga

Do you think it's worth mentioning in the "in the manga" section about the existance of the Hyper Ball? Ash attempts to use it in the EToP manga at the end of issue 4, and is apparently very expensive. Fsilone 02:48, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Isn't the Hyper Ball just the Japanese name of the Ultra Ball? TTEchidnaFire echyGSDS! 03:00, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
...yeah. It is. And it's rather expensive, too... Tina δ 03:03, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Happiness Balls

Shouldn't there be a note about the increased Happiness rating that Luxury Balls and Friend Balls produce on captured Pokemon? Or is that just a myth that has no bearing on the game data?

This is a good question, how come it wasn't answered? Felinoel 21:45, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Main Picture

Is an SSBM trophy really appropriate for the main picture on this article? I think it should be a plain Pokéball without the trophy base at the bottom - MTC

I think it looks a lot better, just a sharper image if you know what I mean. And it doesn't matter the source, a Poké Ball is a Poké Ball. evkl 19:25, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I think the Same as MTC. It could be the picture of a Pokéball that is in the first opening possibly. David aipom

Team Rocket Balls...

I clearly remember seeing black balls thrown by the head of Team Rocket in "Mewtwo's Return" feature length episode. Now it's a bit sad since I juest returned the darn video to the rental store and check on this which I saw just moments ago! From my poor memeory I think they were just black pokeballs with the typicial Team Rocket red R instead of red dot.

They were used to capture the running pokemon (Meoth, Pikachu and the cloned pokemons), though Mewtwo used it's psychich powers to release them, making them somewhat uninteresting...

Actually, I think you're thinking of the PokéBalls being thrown by the Team Rocket grunts at the herd of Tauros that Mewtwo was lifting with Psychic.Missingno. Master 02:00, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Ball Images

The large images are nice, I admit, but perhaps using sprites would make the tables look neater and, by having ones for the Safari, Ultra and Master Balls, more complete? Given time, I could even make modifications of the sprites for the Generation II Balls. --Pie 20:08, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Replacing Images

I don't think that the current images for Hoenn Balls and Poke and Great Ball are nice. I think they're ugly imitations of Sugimori Artwork. I have a Sugimori Artworks for almost all PokeBalls (the Johto ones are bad-qualited, though) and I think they're much better. I think we should replace the current images with the Sugimori's ones.

I dunno, I don't think the current ones look bad at all - just big, given how much they stretch the rows of the table. And how bad quality are you talking for the Johto ones? Call me a sprite fanatic, but I think the third generation item sprites would look best in the tables. The second generation ones would be missing, but, as I said, I could make some custom ones. Also, I'm not particularly fond of the anime Pokéball image, since it's so heavily pixelated... --Pie 01:36, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Actually... now that I think of it, perhaps both of our concerns can be dealt with more easily than I thought. Hold on just a little bit... --Pie 18:50, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

One big vs. many small

I've been talking with TTE. The idea of breaking some of the meat of this article up still bugs me on some level, but... well, might as well bring the idea to everyone.

The idea, basically, is to start having articles for groups of items as well as individual. This one, for example, would be moved to "Ball", and the lower section would link to the different articles on individual item types. If we do this for this one, we do it for all item groups...

Thoughts? --Pie ~ 02:58, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

I think it'd be a good idea. After all, we have separate articles for every berry, why shouldn't we for Poké Balls and held items as well? Then, we could categorize them better, without having a gigantic page (which is what the page on held items is quickly becoming...).
C'mon, anyone else? --TTEchidna 21:55, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Ooh, just had an idea. How about dividing the page into individual sections for each type of ball, going into detail about its catch rate, where it's able to be purchased, and so on? --TTEchidna 15:59, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Green Pokeball

I uploaded this image i took from the first pokemon episode, but i cant get the sizeing right...Someone should take a look and stick it in the Anime section --Britannia's Blade 19:33, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Dive Ball

What is the increase of efficiency for a dive ball when you are capturing a water/bug hybrid?

That's the Net Ball that raises the multiplier for Water or Bug Pokémon. Dive Ball in Gen III works better on Pokémon underwater, and in Gen IV works better on Pokémon you encounter while Surfing. Anyway, I think it doesn't stack, but I dunno. If it doesn't stack, it's as listed, but if it does, it's 9x. TTEchidna 00:19, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Does the Dive Ball really have an increased effect while Surfing in D/P? Missingno. Master 02:00, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
I Belive it does. It's text says so. I don't know the rate though.

Sir Aaron's Staff and the passage of time within the ball.

Should Sir Aaron's Staff be considered a pre-pokéball object as well? Also, should it be noted about how time passes for pokémon contained within pokéballs? There have been a few instances where pokémon have spent of years, centuries even, within a pokéball/pokéball like object and not aging or feeling any sort of passage of time.

I think so, it is a method of capturing a Pokémon. File:Ani137MS.gifTESHFile:Ani233MS.gifTALK File:Ani474MS.gifFUN 16:41, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

This is my fist post (or edit, I'm new) The passage of time seems to vary between pokéball and pokéball like objects, when in pokéballs, pokémon seem to be conscious (as trainers give commands before releasing them) but don't physically age, but in some other pokéball like object, time passes as if there sleeping while there in the object. amaster6000 11:12, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

There is obviously very little passage of time in Aaron's staff; long enough for Lucario to stew in his rage, but quick enough apparently for him to still be blind. Also remember that most of those centuries-old Pokémon are usually special specimens--often a Psychic-type or something like Lokoko.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 14:58, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Gen IV Park Ball

Are the links to the Gen II games really necessary? I know that some people have been using it's resemblance to the GS Ball to support the idea of a Gen IV remake of Gold and Silver, but without an actual statement from Nintendo or Game Freak, should we really make it seem like such speculation is factual? --Dual 13:25, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Jelly Donuts?

Umm, in the anime section of the article, someone links to a Rice Ball as a Jelly Donut. I don't think it should be referred to as this, regardless of what 4Kids calls it. Shonen Jump Master 15:45, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Ball capsulses

Should we mention ball capsules in this article?Darkmaster015:48, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Not really, they are not significant to the pokeball at allC Is for Cookie
What do you mean they have nothing to do with the Poké Ball? I think they should be mentioned somewhere in the article. --Theryguy512 22:46, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Heavy Ball?

It says that heavy ball is "+20 +30 -10" What does that mean? +X to the catch rate? or what? --MewUser 17:16, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Heavy Ball added to the catch rate, So a +30 on a catch rate of 3 would make it catch rate 33. Gywall 17:24, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

From the information given on the page, Snorlax would be the only Gen II pokemon to get the +30 and the +20 would rare as well e.g. Graveler is only 105Kg and HO-OH is only 199Kg Tzion 22:35, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

It is just a wild guess, but could this have anything to do with the recent upgrade to MediaWiki 1.13.0? Sometimes things can accidentally get lost when the wiki software is updated. I know that has happened more than once at Zelda Wiki.org (my main wiki).--Mjr162006 04:17, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Origin of the Concept?

"In the series, Ultraseven, when unable to fight (usually because his Ultra Eye has been stolen), Dan will often produce a small capsule that releases a giant-sized monster to fight in his place."

Now I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I believe the concept of "Keeping Pokémon inside Pokéballs" originated from Ultraseven. --Arima 00:52, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

"Originate" seems to strong a word. Inspired by, possibly. Worth a mention on the page, maybe. State as fact a connection that's at best speculation, unless we hear that Satoshi Tajiri said something in an interview confirming that Ultraseven is where he got the concept...not such a good idea. About the Master Ball...

Should we include the locations of the master balls from games? Or is that off-topic. And if yes, where shall we put it? --Metagross72 04:45, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Reviving something old here, but really. The Master Ball is an important part of the game, just because we list where you can obtain one doesn't make us a "strategy guide", in my opinion it makes us more like an encyclopedia as an encyclopedia tries to have all the information on something, including the locations of things. Making a new article is taking it a little too far, but if it hasn't been done already (and I skimmed through the article and it seems to not have been done) we should list the locations of the Master Balls. That and a lot of people are probably going to want to know where too find them. ~~Takoto - サソデイ 21:28, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
I agree with that. In Kanto it was a gift from the Silph president, Johto I don't know because I never bought the games, Hoenn in the Aqua/Magma hideout in R/S and then Aqua hideout in E, and then Cyrus gives it to you in D/P/Pt. Unless that's only in Pt. R.A. Hunter Blade 21:54, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Elm gives you the Master Ball in GSC. -Sketch 22:01, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
And now someone just needs to figure out a neat (as in, tidy) was of adding the information onto the article... I recommend in a table/box kinda thing, I'd do it myself but I'm both busy, and I have no idea how too. xD Sorry I'm not much help. ~~Takoto - サソデイ 22:25, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Opponent's only keep Pokémon in Poké Balls?

"In the games, all opponents keep their Pokémon in Poké Balls. The reason for this is unknown."

Whoever put this up, what is this supposed to mean? If you mean they always keep them in Balls, then it's false, because there are countless trainers in-game that let their Pokémon wander around, and in Colosseum and XD you can even battle them, but they'll go back into their Ball pre-battle.

I interpreted as the type of Ball, since it's true all opponents keep them in Poké Balls, not Ultra Balls or whatever, but since there's contention, I think some real clarification would be nice. Dragoness 04:39, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

I sure of seen some other ball somewhere, but thats besides the point. I interpreted it as in the case of Ash's Pikachu, not being in the pokeball, but battling in the anime, while the jigglypuff in yellow version and a machop in gold couldnt battle, but you could see the walking aroundDCM((曲奇饼妖怪Spy on My Edits))
Then it's not true that all opponents keep their Pokémon in their Balls. Best example is the Shadow Lugia in XD, who was definitely not kept in a Ball.Dragoness 04:46, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Did an opponent use it? Was it ever "captured" in anyway?DCM((曲奇饼妖怪Spy on My Edits))
Yes, Greevil clearly commanded it to attack and it did, not to mention you had to use a Snag Ball to catch it, not a regular Ball like the wild Pokémon. There are other examples in that game. In Phenac, a Peon is talking to his Absol before you battle him, and he uses the Absol in battle. In Agate Village, there is an old woman standing with a Mightyena and if you choose to battle her, she uses the Mightyena. Eagun also keeps his Pikachu out but still uses it to battle. Dragoness 04:55, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Non main game but ok. Im gonna go locate that trainer with the safari zone. Keep it the way you have itDCM((曲奇饼妖怪Spy on My Edits)) 04:57, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
You're all missing the point, I think that who first posted this was trying to say that when you battle another trainer they always send out their Pokémon in normal Poké Balls, you know, because I've never seen an in-game opponent sending out any Pokémon in a, say, Master Ball. However, why is this important, I mean, yeah it's true, but I don't think is something we should see in the article, or is it important? I may be wrong.--YukitoOoO 18:03, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

3D Picture

Don't you think it would be better to have Ken Sugimori's artwork for the Poké Ball instead of that 3D Picture? It's not really official artwork and looks nothing like the balls in the anime! I think if we used Ken Sugimori's artwork it would give people more of a general idea of what Poké Balls actually look like. Just an idea! Taromon777 12:09, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Anime Pokeballs

Half the anime pokeballs are actully just customized pokeballs painted to look unique, namely the Lake Ball, Chansey ball, Green Pokeball and Rocket Ball. The game series also suggest that custom poke balls exist in this manner; when you deliver Oak's Parcel he states it's a custom ordered Poke Ball. By listeing these under the heading "Customized Pokeballs" we can save some space.--Lego3400 23:49, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
