Spelling

Is this Pokémon called Boappu or Baoppu? --Shining Latios 20:26, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Shining Latios

Baoppu...Ataro 20:31, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Possible origin

Its spade-shaped, barbed tail resembles a stereotypical demon's tail; the fact that it is a fire type may also mean the tail may be referencing stereotypical interpretations of devils.

The reason why I said this was that the cartoonized devils have spade shaped tails. Also, this is a quote from the origin of the spade suit shape being comically portrayed as devil tails: "Spades would often have horns and tail added to become "devils"" Not only that, but this led to the card game "The Devil's Hand". - 050294 06:43, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

They are not shaped like spades. They are shaped like arrows. Even if they say it's spade shaped, it's still looks more like an arrow, which does not resemble Baoppu's tail at all. And I still think it looks like a cartoony flame. Yanappu's tail resembles vegetation and Hiyappu's tail resembles a water spout. Isn't it common sense that Baoppu would have a flame to fit this theme? Why would it be a demon tail? --ケンジガール 06:53, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
In some forms of cartoonization they are spades, . Also, it's typing, fire, is a common element devils and demons affiliate themselves with. Also, Hiyappu's tail is similar to clubs, and clubs are often affiliated in mythology with water and the color blue. - 050294 07:15, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
We have already determined the origin of the three monkeys. What you are saying here now is just coinsidence, its like saying "Because Sharpedo has teeth it must be based on a wolverine".--EpicShadow 16:30, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Few Pokémon are based on just ONE origin. Many are based on many different things. What you're saying is that origins can ONLY be one thing, and that is as ignorant as saying Lugia is ONLY based on a dragon and nothing else, which we know is incorrect. Besides, how is this just a coincidence if spades are known to be symbols of devilry and are associated with the flames of hell, red and demons? - 050294 01:48, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
First of all I do not beleive that Pokémon can only be based on one thing. second of all, there is nothing else that adds solidity to youre theory. If Baoppu had horns, or even the smallest of claws or fangs it would make more sense. What I'm saying is, if thats the only ressemblance than it a very solid base for anything and should be left out unless it is officialy stated by Gamefreak themselves.--EpicShadow 01:59, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Move to Pansear

We have more confirmation.--immewnitythemew 01:35, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Agree 100%. The pages should definitely be moved accordingly. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 03:48, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Well Pokemon.com keeps on releasing names of new pokemon so we sould wait until then. We can't base this off of Gamestop because they even got the release date wrong. Bulbapedia only puts confirmed information from a official sorce like Nintindo and Pokemon.com. Sorry people can't understand this I don't like it, but I understand why it's happening. Better safe then sorry. --Pokemaster97 03:59, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
GameStop didn't "get the date wrong". They just give out random estimated release dates. They did the same thing with HGSS. They said it would be available April 1st, and it was released half a month earlier. But anyways, you should only move pages when you have OFFICIAL confirmation. A leak of the back of a case is not official. Blake Talk·Edits 04:36, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Undo changes in name origin

What was stated in the name origin section is related to the japanese name, not the english name. And I'm saying that for all the three monkeys, please undo the recent changes in those sections. Also, I think that Baoppu's name may come from バーン, meaning burn. --Blow (話す) 00:21, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
