The reason why I said this was that the cartoonized devils have spade shaped tails. Also, this is a quote from the origin of the spade suit shape being comically portrayed as devil tails: "Spades would often have horns and tail added to become "devils"" Not only that, but this led to the card game "The Devil's Hand". - 050294 06:43, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

:They are not shaped like spades. They are shaped like arrows. Even if they say it's spade shaped, it's still looks more like an arrow, which does not resemble Baoppu's tail at all. And I still think it looks like a cartoony flame. Yanappu's tail resembles vegetation and Hiyappu's tail resembles a water spout. Isn't it common sense that Baoppu would have a flame to fit this theme? Why would it be a demon tail? --<span style="color:#33CC66;">ケンジ</span><span style="color:#6600CC;">の</span><span style="color:#FF00CC;">ガール</span> 06:53, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Possible origin

Its spade-shaped, barbed tail resembles a stereotypical demon's tail; the fact that it is a fire type may also mean the tail may be referencing stereotypical interpretations of devils.
