Trivia

Evolves in the same Gen? I'm pretty sure that Steelix was introduced in Gen. II. Or am I just misunderstanding something? --Blastoise Rules!!! 19:29, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Bruno has one in Gen II. TTEchidna 19:50, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
The phrasing is a bit bad. Basically, that trivia item doesn't count Bruno's Onix in Gen I but does count it from after Steelix's introduction in Gen II. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 20:57, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
I added something to that trivia. Well, I didn't do it the right way, I know that. But at least people won't be mistaken again. TheBlazikenMaster 00:23, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
This still isn't coherent, but I can't think of a way to fix it to make it better. Anyone have good ideas? -- evkl (need to talk?) 23:01, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Can't you also get the entire Machop line through trades? Machop in Gold, Silver, Crystal, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver, with Machoke and Machamp being both in Yellow. Perhaps that needs reworded to "only pokemon where you can get all stages of evolutionary line in a single game not counting 1 stage pokemon".

Origin

I was thinking, and I thought that it was more likely that onix is based on an Earthworm due to it's ground attributes. What do you make of this? 3190 21:12, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Both are sectioned off; Both can move quickly underground. BUT Onix won't come out of the ground when it is raining like earthworms do. The is a connetion though. TESHIGIGAS 21:16, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Egg Pokemon

Is it interesting to note that Onix is the largest pokemon that can legally hatch from an egg?

Go for it. But capitalize the P and accent the é or else. TTEchidna 22:14, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

I apologize for the tons of uploads

My computer seems to be messing up and posting the wrong images. I'm sorry. - 050294 19:57, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Grammar

In the Special Abilities section, the sentence that starts "If Onix takes a hard enough blow and it's body falls apart," that should be "its," not "it's." The Behavior section is a run-on sentence. In the Habitat section, there seems to be a preposition missing, possibly "in."--Trebligoniqua 12:27, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Too much useless trivia

Doesn't this article, among others, have some useless comparations as trivia? I mean, who cares if Onix and Swablu are the only pokémon to change their primary type when they evolve? Shouldn't it be deleted?

Sorry, first editing here, so I don't know if I should do that... Thorfinn 22:00, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Actually, that's pretty important. They're the only dual-typed Pokémon to have that happen. Similar scenario with Gloom (Grass-Poison) and Bellossom (Grass). That's trivia for you. ht14 22:10, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Editing a Sprite

Can somebody fix the shiny sprite for Emerald? DarthMartian7 23:26, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

What's wrong with it? CuboneKing 23:28, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

First appearance?

Umm, Onix first appeared in episode 1, not Showdown at Pewter City. :\ Ugoz 03:35, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

I think it's the first major appearance. Origami is math for the hands. -Martin Grant, MathPath 23:35, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Wait, what?

"When holding an Eviolite, Onix can reach a maximum Defense stat of 690. This is the highest Defense stat obtainable without the assistance of stat modifiers, Abilities or items with adverse effects."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't eviolite count as an item with adverse effects? TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 13:02, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

What do you mean? Eviolite has no adverse effects. The only drawbacks are that it doesn't work with evolved Pokémon (not a problem with Onix) and that it takes up an item slot. --AndyPKMN (talk) 13:41, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
Oh, I thought the fact fully evolved Pokémon can't use it was an adverse effects. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 23:35, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Onix's Cry

Is it noteworthy to include that Onix still cries "Iwark" in the dub? I realize it's pretty unintelligible most of the time, but in some episodes, like EP071, it can be heard pretty clearly at some points.

No, cause tons of Pokémon keep their Japanese voice, especially ones that sound closer to a roar than actual spoken words. However, we do slightly point it out on pages with Onix's voice actors, like Brock's Steelix, in the way that it's listed as having the same voice actor in Japanese and English. FRLG pre national pokedex trading

What happens if you trade an onix holding a metal coat between FR and LG before you get the national pokedex? Will it still evolve?Hypershock (talk) 16:02, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
