Anyone know his Japanese name? I'm curious if it is close to "Sakaki". I mean, he has the look, and he has a Persian...also, HG/SS shows that Giovanni owns a Honchkrow. Is it possible that he is 1. meant to be a rather obscure reference to Giovanni, and 2. it is so obscure that the translation team didn't pick it up? If it's a yes to both, I think we should have a Trivia put on the page for it. Magnezone 18:09, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
:No, his name is アツヤ Atsuya, actually. You really got carried away. Think logically, someone would notice something so blatant. NoA may not be the best at catching anime references and things like this but I'm sure that they WOULD notice a Trainer named "Sakaki". This is just too blatant to miss. Also, never judge anything based on Pokemon teams solely. This was really too remote. It's like taking every Swimmer with a Starmie as a reference to Misty. --Maxim 18:22, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
But Honchkrow + Persian together? It's just.....odd. And I'm not really carried away, since I was asking :p If I was really carried away I would have added a Trivia without asking.Magnezone 12:14, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

I noticed that there are often descriptions of the kinds of Pokémon are often selected by specific Trainer classes in other Trainer class articles, but this one does not have such information. Am I the only person who noticed that female clerks tend to use Bug- and/or Grass-type Pokémon? If not, I think it should be added to the article. Clerk ♂

either merge clerk, or separate swimmer. -Pokeant 04:07, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Unlike Swimmers, these trainer classes have different Japanese names. i.e. they are different classes that were given the same name in translation. Werdnae (talk) 04:56, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
The males are called Swimsuit Guy and the females are called Bikini Lady in Japanese. That's not the same D: This is the exact same case. I agree with the merge. Or split the Swimmers... But that's more work. --ケンジガール 05:40, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Yay, passion. *sigh* If it comes down to it, I say separate the Swimmers. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 12:36, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
These need to be merged more than the Swimmers do. They aren't named Clerk♂ and Clerk♀ like the Swimmers are—they are both simply Clerk. I support this merge. --SnorlaxMonster 10:07, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
What are you talking about? They are named Clerk♂ and Clerk♀. In the games, yes. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 11:43, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Another similar article: Tuber. Inner tube boy and inner tube girl in japan. -Pokeant 02:40, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
I go with Merge. The articles are practically the same anyway. —darklordtrom 04:59, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
Oh well, even if they have the ♂ and ♀, they are still two highly similar stubs, so should be merged. --SnorlaxMonster 05:20, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

No. They are distinstly different classes in the japanese game. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 12:31, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
So are Swimmer♂ and Swimmer♀. But I don't know. I've got mixed feelings about this. I've even considered splitting Swimmers, the sprite table in Swimmer article is overwhelmingly enormous. --Maxim 13:32, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Pokémon selection tendencies

I noticed that there are often descriptions of the kinds of Pokémon are often selected by specific Trainer classes in other Trainer class articles, but this one does not have such information. Am I the only person who noticed that female clerks tend to use Bug- and/or Grass-type Pokémon? If not, I think it should be added to the article. Superbreeder 15:30, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
