Connection between Munna and a Lass outside of Rock Tunnel in R/B/Y/FR/LG

Should this article be edited to include the information about the Lass in R/B/Y/FR/LG that mentions wanting to hug a pink Pokémon with a floral pattern? It is likely just a coincidence, but it's amusing nonetheless and it would be nice to see a reference to it on Munna's page.

  • I agree that this should definitely be included in the article under trivia! Monochras 15:13, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
I noticed that bit of trivia was added to Kanto Route 10, so I guess it's notable enough to be added to this article? Rai Marshall 08:03, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Physiology for the admins to implement

Munna is a mainly pink quadruped Pokémon of indefinable basis, somewhat resembling tapirs or pigs. Its body is rounded and stubby-limbed, giving it a lump-like appearance, with pink-and-purple floral patterns along the back and underside. It has ovular red eyes and what appear to be two eyelashes on top, with a pink oval on the upper side of its curving snout. Steph 15:00, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Done. --ZestyCactus 15:36, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Shouldn't it be oval not ovular --Crimsonnavy 01:01, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

This creature almost literally--to me--looks like a young girl's piggy bank. Paladindragon 04:22, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

To the forums with ya.--Pokélova! 04:48, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Yes...if someone could do it, I would prefer the term "oval" or "ovaloid". I know I made a bit of a mistake there. Steph 17:12, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Origin

Munna seems to be based on the baku, dream eating creatures that eventually resembled tapirs in art. Basically, it appears to be based on what Drowzee and Hypno were based on, anyone mind adding this? Mudkipchan 05:23, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Possible name origins?

Given the fact that pink and flowers are commonly seen as "girly", I think it's highly possible that the "nna" in Munna's name comes from 女 onna, for "woman". --Phantomjunkie 17:45, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

i think it is more like mosou(DREAM)+ hana(FLOWER).Badwolf1234 04:32, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Li'l Oink Connection?

http://www.mariowiki.com/Li%27l_Oink

I've noticed that, like Shroomish to Goombas, Munna is similar to this creature from Paper Mario. The floral variety gives Maple Syrup, while the pink one gives a Fire Flower. It may be just a coincidence, but I think it's worth noting should Munna be able to expertise in Grass/Fire-type moves. Yurtablemoron 05:36, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

  • Disagree- Besides the fact that their is one pink pig in that picture and Munna is pink, i see absolutely no other connection. Monochras 15:21, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Origin Written In Article

Not sure who edited the Origin section in the article, but it needs a real overhaul. Munna is misspelled twice, and it just needs major editorial revision. Here's my edit:

Munna appears to be based on traditional Japanese incense burners called koro. These are used in traditional tea ceremonies, but many styles of koro have been developed to be used with insect repellent incense. These insect repellent koro are popularly shaped like a pig and can have patterns painted on them, such as floral patterns. Munna, like Drowzee, also seems to share some inspiration from the myth of the Baku, tapir-like creatures that eat dreams.

Also, here's a Youtube video that shows a pig-shaped koro being used with insect repellent incense. Japanese Mosquito Coils - Katorisenko Repellent--Phantomjunkie 06:09, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

The thing is, we don't know if Munna can even repel anything away, let alone insects. It's specie name is 'dream eater' so I believe it was intended to be based on the baku, not to mention that its appearance does look like a tapir. At least those things we know about. Mudkipchan 18:08, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
I didn't write it, I just edited what was there to make it sound and look better. If the admins don't think it's appropriate, they're more than free to remove it. --Phantomjunkie 01:22, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Munna evolves into Musharna

This should be added shouldn't it? Its evolution line?--S2daam 17:31, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

They may be waiting for Musharna's page to be finalized and added. Also I'm not sure if it has actually been confirmed yet, and that's always the key when it comes to new Pokémon.--PhantomJunkie 17:45, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Confirmation is important, but the two have too many similarities for it to just be a coincidence: similar body shape, coloring, not to mention Musharna's "Dream Smoke". Furthermore, the two were placed right next to each other in CoroCoro, so all signs point to Musharna being Munna's evolved form. --Element03 00:23, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
It has been confirmed!!! Check the sites that have interpreted the CoroCoro article it actually says that Musharna is Munna's evolution! Monochras 15:19, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Connection to Drowzee

I think it should definitely be included that it was rumored that Munna was Drowzee's pre-evo since so many fans thought so.

Include it in the trivia Monochras 15:19, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

People being stupid doesn't need to be included in trivia.GreatLiver 14:14, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
It wasn't stupidity, it was something they got from them being tapirs and generally looking similar to people. It still does have a chance of being right, though. I'm not sure if it should be mentioned, as it is an opinion, but there's a related trivia on Shellos's page about it being a pre-evolution of Lapras. Name Origin

Munna's name may come from the Japanese word "Muma (夢魔)," nightmare, similar to Misdreavus. Just an opinion though. - unsigned comment from Omnis (talkcontribs)

It may be a combination of 'Mu', a reading of 夢 yume, dream, and 空しい munashī, void, empty.KurowaSan 05:57, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Possible Origin

VERY unlikely, but I saw a creature that looked alot like Munna, the Cthulhu Larva (A.K.A. Abyssal Sea Cucumber). this...thing http://i.crackedcdn.com/phpimages/article/0/4/7/3047.jpg?v=1 --Darknesslover5000 08:46, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
