Marowak's Ghost on Cinnibar strip

  • Could it be possible that the Marowak you run into (along with Mewtwo, Missingno., and 'M) while using the Old Man trick is the same Marowak that can't be captured? --Kid Sonic 18:55, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Technically speaking, sure. The eastern coast glitch will literally just barf up whatever fits the situation. But the game designers did not intend for the Marowak goast ghost to be catchable there. 梅子 19:01, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Sorry but I disagree, the land strip actually has no defined Pokémon data, hence the game will draw up information for the last list of Pokémon in memory (e.g. if you encounter a Pokémon in Route 1 you will encounter the same list of Pokémon in the land strip). The game also stores such data in this same byte when the name is changed to OLD MAN and then back, that particular Marowak is just because the player had an R in his/her name as 1st 3rd 5th or 7th letter (those letter numbers correspond to a list of Pokémon - species based on actual symbol), the rest of the or for the level ranges of the Pokémon. An extra byte makes a Pokémon appear as a ghost, and the old man trick cannot set that, remember there can are also be ghost Ghastlys too, or technically a ghost of any Pokémon. --Chickasaurus 17:38, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Yellow

In Yellow Version (at least) the Marowak Ghost CAN be caught without a cheat device.

This was just added to the page. Can someone confirm this? Werdnae (talk) 02:23, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

The Ghost (and any ghost for that matter) will block every Pokéball, regardless of the type. In theory, it would be possible to capture it if a glitch was exploited allowing one to bypass the "This Pokémon cannot be caught." message. However, I cannot find any mention of such a glitch. Presuming that the Marowak ghost was caught, it would be caught as the normal (after being identified) Marowak, which has the normal default moves for such a Marowak anyway. --Chickasaurus 09:14, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I thought that was the case, but I didn't want to remove it 'cause I haven't played any games before gen IV. Werdnae (talk) 09:36, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

trivia

The trivia section says this: "Strangely, it will even dodge thrown balls while sleeping. It could also dodge a Master Ball (if traded into the game in Generation III)." How is this strange? It is a ghost, and ghosts are traditionally known to have solid objects pass through them. Gastly and other Ghost types could be caught because they weren't actual ghosts Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 14:40, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Ability in gen 3

Isn't it possible to determine its ability by spamming a low-accuracy lightning attack? (if it ever misses, it's Rock Head, if it never misses, it's Lightningrod) Or does the "ineffective type" message take precedence over the miss message? ...Or is it determined at random which I guess is a lot more likely? --billybobfred (It's all just wild mass guessing anyway.) 14:46, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Marowak (ghost)

Or even Marowak (deceased). Along with Literal ghost to Ghost (literal), I think this page should be moved to Marowak (ghost) or Marowak (deceased) or even Marowak (Pokémon Tower). --Landfish7 22:22, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

I greatly prefer Marowak (ghost). --SnorlaxMonster 08:38, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
Anyone else have a say on this? Marowak (ghost) sounds good to me as well. But Marowak (Pokémon Tower) isn't bad either, considering it also mentions the location of the Marowak, though Marowak (Pokemon Tower) would need to redirect to it because of the é, but that really isn't an issue. Also, I think we should move Literal ghost to Ghost (Literal). --Landfish7 15:36, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
I think it is a good idea to put it as Marowak (Ghost). Gliscorguy54 01:06, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
All titles are in sentence case, so the "ghost" would be lowercase. --SnorlaxMonster 01:24, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
I'm good with either Marowak (ghost) or Marowak (Pokémon Tower). What are the issues with just (ghost) that made it (literal ghost) in the first place? Ikarishipper900 23:24, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
I think it is "literal ghost" due to the page literal ghost being located where it is. Still, Marowak (ghost), or even Marowak (Pokémon Tower) is better than its current location. --SnorlaxMonster 14:00, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
SnorlaxMonster hit it right on the head. I actually should have made the page at "Marowak (ghost}" to begin with, so I fully support this move. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 15:37, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
I think Marowak (ghost) would be best, and Marowak (Pokémon Tower) is still better than the current name. --Darth Zekrom 20:47, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
I disagree, as this is Pokémon and ghost can refer to the Ghost type. Wildgoose-The friendly goose in town! 01:28, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Marowak's death

Before I read this page I thought that the Marowak deceased because of the story of Cubone wearing the skull of its deceased mother and crying about it and being tougher when itself evolves into a Marowak. So doesn't this story completely contradict with the pokédex? Nickvang 20:43, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
