:Update on this: I've fed my Feebas 22 Dry Malasadas and it won't evolve yet, which means either Dry Malasadas don't increase Beauty or they increase it by fewer than 7.7 points per malasada (170 to evolve ÷ 22 malasadas = 7.7 points). Testing this much took a solid couple of hours, so I'm not exactly enthusiastic to test out another 148 malasadas to reach a total of 170 (in case they give only 1 point per malasada). For now, I'm tentatively assuming they don't increase Beauty at all. (If anyone sees this and is interested, though, a related question that I don't have the means to answer is whether Feebas can even evolve via Beauty at all any more. If not, my investigation is entirely moot.) Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 05:40, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

Feebas

Given that Contest stats have consistently been tracked invisibly (and Beauty sometimes can be increased) even in games without Contests, I wonder whether it would be worth researching whether feeding lots of Dry Malasadas to Feebas would increase its Beauty and allow it to evolve. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 18:59, 16 February 2017 (UTC)

Update on this: I've fed my Feebas 22 Dry Malasadas and it won't evolve yet, which means either Dry Malasadas don't increase Beauty or they increase it by fewer than 7.7 points per malasada (170 to evolve ÷ 22 malasadas = 7.7 points).
Just tested that- caught a Feebas in OR, maxed out its Beauty, transferred it into Moon, and fed it a Rare Candy. Evolved into Milotic with no problems. So yes, Feebas does still evolve by Beauty, so maybe the Dry Malasada doesn't increase Beauty. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 18:09, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

Mythic Malasada help

I just want to give a shout-out to any helpful soul out there who may be listening.

I've already identified the week of Feb 24 to March 2 as a time when Mythic Malasada appeared in one of my games. (I set my time a bit forward some while ago and kind of forgot.) A big question with this is, is there an absolute/set time frame that Mythic Malasada appears, or can it vary between games based on some random/unknown factor? So I'd like to ask for people to check their games when your 3DS says Feb 23, and again on Feb 24, and see if Mythic Malasada appears in your malasada shops exactly on the 24th.

The more people who can answer the better, so that we can be more sure it's not some big coincidence.

(FYI, time traveling doesn't seem to "work" for Mythic Malasada. It's hard to be certain since I don't actually know a whole lot about how Mythic Malasada works at this point, but I checked a whole month and it didn't show up anywhere, even after waiting a bit when I should easily have expected it. There may be other things I can try, but I'm not quite prepared to take those steps at this point in time.)

Assuming they'd be at the left cashier, there were no Mythic Malasadas yesterday, and there are none today, neither in Sun nor Moon. (And yes, my 3DS reflects the actual date.) Nescientist (talk) 11:19, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
Great, that answers a big question, thanks! I'll just have to see what else there is to glean from what observations I can continue to make of my own games' schedules. Tiddlywinks (talk) 13:52, 24 February 2017 (UTC)

FWIW, I've confirmed that two games on the same system can get Mythic Malasada at different times.

The only certain interval I've seen between two Mythic Malasada appearances in the same game comes to 5 weeks and 2 days between the start of each (or 4 weeks and 2 days after the end of the previous). This roughly corresponds with the other/earlier Mythic Malasada that I partially saw but didn't know enough to track in full detail.

It'll either take another several weeks before I can get another, solid data point, or I'll have to see if some "wider" time travel actually works (or try it a bit differently, like via new games). It's not a simple project, but if anyone wants to help by tracking a couple appearances in their own game, that'd be a great way to smooth over some uncertainties with more data points. (The absolute minimal thing needed would be to check your game regularly/once a week for Mythic Malasada, and if you find it, check every day to see exactly when it ends.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:43, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

Looks like it's a 37 day cycle (or, the next appearance starts 31 days from the last day of the previous). Using that info, I tried "time traveling" to a proper date for Mythic Malasada and it looks like it still doesn't work. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:46, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
While I blatantly ignored your minimum requirements, I have three new data points and an adjusted hypothesis:
 1. Game started Dec 28, Mystic Malasada at some point between Wed and Fri last week (didn't bother memorizing, thought I'd be able to do some more that weekend, sry)
 2. Same game, no Mystic Malasada today (March 13)
 3. Game started Nov 23, no Mystic Malasada today
While the current hypothesis explains the first two, they should only run out of Mystics in case three by tomorrow. New hypothesis (could still be consistent what you already confirmed): It's not a strict 31+6 days cycle, but rather a month+6 days cycle (e.g. 31+6 when a new cycle starts in Jan, but 30+6 for Nov etc.). I have to wait a month to eventually confirm (or falsify) this, but maybe you're able to do this earlier (especially when/if you're still in a February cycle somewhere). Nescientist (talk) 16:05, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
I started one game on "December 19, 2016". On that game, I saw Mythic Malasada on Jan 19-21, nothing ~Jan 25-Feb 23, Mythic Feb 24-Mar 2, nothing Mar 3-Apr 1, Mythic Apr 2-Apr 8, nothing Apr 9.
I started another game "March 6, 2017". On the game, I saw Mythic Malsada Apr 5-Apr 11, and nothing Apr 12.
I think you'll want to check those yourself rather than taking my word for how they fall out, so I'll leave it to you to see how it may fit with your ideas. Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:20, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
Also, I'd normally hope you didn't touch your clock at all and there are no other caveats about your testing, but since DST just "happened" in the US, if you changed your clock for that, that'd "erase" your Mythic appearance. (I suspect the game treats this new date the same way it treats the start-of-adventure, but confirming that would take a while.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:28, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
For I would never betray thou: I never touch my clock. (But on second thought, there may be issues for the Nov 23 game if using it on another system in between erases anything—it used to be a thing, but I was under the impression they fixed that..!?)
In my theory, your cycles so far started in December, January and March, all of which have 31 days. In your first game, if my theory is correct, you should only see the difference when you see the next Mystics on May 08, not May 09 (because April has 30 days). Nescientist (talk) 17:18, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
I'm not able to test switching 3DSs with the same game. The easiest test (sort of) would obviously be to just wait until you have a Mythic Malasada, then try changing the 3DS (and saving and SR'ing, walking in/out of the shop...and maybe switching 3DSs back and check the same again) and see if it screws it up. Maybe see if it screws it up for the next day (if, preferably, you confirmed exactly when its appearance started so you're certain there's extra days ahead, not just pretty sure).
If it's the same effect as time traveling, then you could test Berry piles (or probably some other things, IDK). When I gathered a Berry pile and saved my game, then set my time forward a few days and to a bit before midnight (and re-entered and saved), after midnight a few minutes later, the Berry pile didn't regenerate.
