I know that Larvitar comes from larva, Pupitar comes from Pulaski and Tyranitar comes from Tyrannosaurus, but what does the "tar" mean?

001Bulbasaur RG.png Due to special coding in place in the article, the artwork featured on this article will change every year on November 21 and October 15 in celebration of the releases of Gold and Silver in Japan, and Gold and Silver in the United States. This will only affect the artwork shown in the infobox. This changes every year, so when the time comes, here to return to the page and change the display.

Look, that's nice, but our encounter rates are found by extracting data from the game, not through large-scale trials. If you were trying to prove something else, pleese reply here, because I don't know what your point is. --SnorlaxMonster 03:10, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
This isn't large-scale. It's a point of reference for people who don't want to wait for every aspect of the game to be reverse engineered. M.Shepherd 19:01, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

New Evolution?!

I found a video on youtube (which I immediately lost, sorry) which showed a picture of an upcoming magazine containing info on X & Y, and it shows Larvitar evolving into Pupitar, followed by TWO evolutions of Pupitar, one of which being Tyranitar, and the other being a silhouette. There's no info of this on the page, though I guess it might belong on Pupitar's page, so... am I the first to find it, or am I slow (as usual)? Nutter Butter (talk) 02:46, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

It's highly likely that what you found is nothing more than a hoax. However, if you can find the video again and give us a link to it, we will look it over and let you know if it's a hoax or official. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 22:09, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Actually I think this is the one I watched... the first one looks a lot faker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9WamXLc4EA Nutter Butter (talk) 00:21, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
