Wani/Wanizame?
*Garchomp's (and the rest of its family's) Dragon typing along with its shark-based design could be inspired by the Japanese dragon known as the "Wani" 鰐, or sometimes known as the "Wanizame" 鰐鮫.  Though "wani" is usually translated and associated with crocodiles, there seem to also be some association with sharks (at least when addressed was "wanizame"). Granted, the "wani" is usually seen as a water dragon, which could conflict with the fact that the Garchomp family is part Ground.  Still, the "wani/wanizame" might explain the dragon typing. I don't know, I guess it is just weird to me thinking about a Land Shark being part Dragon-type otherwise. And I tried looking into any other possible dragons that could be the inspiration (like the Jiaolong? IDK). The another creature could be the Samebito, though not an actual dragon, is still associated with a "dragon kingdom", but it feels like a stretch. This could probably very well just be considered speculation and totally disregarded, but I am curious to see if anyone else has anything to say or even add about this. I guess I just wanted to throw all of this out there. ----<span style="color:blue">NateVirus</span><small>(<span style="color:green">Talk</span>|<span style="color:red">Contributions</span></small>) 08:23, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Shiny sprite

Garchomp's shiny sprite seems no difference from the original. Is this the case in the games, or is it a mistake from an editor? PeliculaSA 19:07, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

New comments to the bottom of the page please. There is actually a slight colour difference between the two. The shiny sprite is slightly darker than the non-shiny one. Werdnae (talk) 20:38, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
I see. + About the talk pages, I am very well aware of where to put new comments, but while editing the page, I saw nothing but white in the text box, and I thought "Why, I just try writing anyway" and you know the rest. PeliculaSA 18:55, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
I think I know why. You're clicking the little [edit] thing by the title right? That link is for editing the opening section of the page. I.e. the part between the title and the first section heading, which in this case is empty. To edit the whole page you need to click the edit this page tab right at the top of the page above the site notice. To easily add a new section to a page click the + tab next to it. Move tutor for Generation V

Base stat

Why doesnt any body note that garchomp along with the other pseudo legendary dragon type has the highest base stat total of all non legendary dragon types.--$%$HYDRA3DRAGON$%$ (talk) 14:04, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Sharing a trait with multiple Pokemon makes that trait not particularly unique, and thus doesn't really need to be stated anywhere. Just saying it's psuedo legendary should be enough, really. --It's Funktastic~! (talk) 14:42, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Wani/Wanizame?

 • Garchomp's (and the rest of its family's) Dragon typing along with its shark-based design could be inspired by the Japanese dragon known as the "Wani" 鰐, or sometimes known as the "Wanizame" 鰐鮫.
