Future Sight and Doom Desire

Where does the information that Focus Band cannot protect against Focus Band in Generation II come from? It's not from Future Sight, UPC disagrees, and I doubt it based on reading the disassembly. (You wouldn't be able to infer from Endure, as that apparently "fades" earlier.)

Where does the Doom Desire Generation III info come from? (Where does the information that Focus Band cannot protect from either in Generation IV and beyond come from?) Again, none of that is in the moves' articles.

My best guess is that de:Fokus-Band might be correct: that it can protect against both prior to Generation IV, and against neither starting in Generation IV. Alternatively, it may still be both (for Focus Band and Focus Sash). Nescientist (talk) 18:00, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

My guess is that it comes from In-battle effect item#Focus Band. The alleged Future Sight/Doom Desire difference is probably due to a misinterpretation of the sentence Cannot protect from damage from Future Sight or Doom Desire, except in Generation III. You would need to confirm with Chosen to be sure, however. --SnorlaxMonster 18:20, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
...and apparently the person who added that Focus Band cannot protect from Future Sight/Doom Desire "except in Generation III" to that page was me. I cannot remember doing that, so I don't know what my source for that was (although I also edited the Future Sight article around that time, so it suggests it may have been the result of my own testing, but I definitely did not test Gen II). I'll try it out in Gen III then and see if I can get Focus Band to survive Future Sight. (The problem with Focus Band however is that it's simple to verify if it does work, but very difficult to prove that it doesn't.)--SnorlaxMonster 18:35, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
Ah okay, that'd be great. I guess all of that points to "my best guess" above. (For GenIV+, I guess we can logically assume it works like Focus Sash, just with 10% instead of full HP.) Nescientist (talk) 18:47, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
Ok, just to finalize this: while SnorlaxMonster's tests in Generations III-VII apparently confirmed Focus Band and Sash can protect from both Future Sight and Doom Desire ("alternatively" from above), I was able to confirm Focus Band can indeed also protect from Future Sight in Gen II. All contradictions should be fixed. Nescientist (talk) 11:44, 8 July 2017 (UTC)

Ash's Desk

In the article for the Soothe Bell, there is a picture (File:Ash Room.png) that shows Soothe Bells on Ash's desk. However, there is also a Focus Band right next to the bells. Any particular reason why the image is mentioned in that article but not this one? Striker212 (talk) 20:21, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

I assume it's because the Focus Band is a bit hard to see in the image, the one we have on the article is a full shot of the item.--ForceFire 04:34, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
I'd argue that the Focus Band is easier to see than the bells, but just the fact that it's there means that it should be in this article. Additionally, the Soothe Bell article also contains a large image of its respective item, sooo... Striker212 (talk) 15:14, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
Wasn't really against adding the image. I think it's fine to have both, and as you said, Soothe Bell has both of the image.--ForceFire 04:18, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Actually checking again, that's not the focus band. Since Ash won the Focus Band in BW134, and the picture of Ash's Room is from BW001. The "focus band" is actually the band that was given to him in DP057. I don't remember if it was actually called the Focus Band or if it just looks like the focus band.--ForceFire 04:23, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

In what ways is Focus Band better than Sash?

Not much for the body here, read the titleIluvchess (talk) 16:12, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

It's not one-time use. Theoretically it can protect against every attack dealt to user (I'm not talking about status moves and such) while Sash can and will protect against one attack at max, unless recycled. Also Focus Band can activate if user wasn't at full HP.
Really, couldn't you just read the descriptions? The only similarity between them is "Can make Pokemon survive at 1 HP". Every other condition is different. Itan (talk) 14:07, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
Gosh you didn't have to be so rude Iluvchess (talk) 14:14, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
