:No, because the Elite Four and the Champion are different entities. Plus, it'd be the Elite Five if the Champion was part of them. Can we really classify Flint as a Fire-type trainer if he only has two Fire-types? His team is actually rather well-balanced, and is only very slightly biased towards Fire. Drapion 00:14, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

The official DP site lists him as Fire-type trainer. Also: he has TWO Fire-type Pokémon. A Normal-type, a Steel-type and a Ghost-type are in his team because there are few Fire Pokémon in the Sinnoh Dex. - Taylor 00:34, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
That's no excuse. Look at the Fire types in the anime version Sinnoh (including Charmeleon and Quilava, for gods sake). I'm sorry, but 2 Fire-types out of 5 Pokemon does not a Fire-trainer make. And in the Ultimate Fire-Trainer Showdown of Destiny Steelix would get laughed of the field. Flint could at least get himself a Magmortar... - Cassius335
None of those are Sinnoh Dex Pokémon, though, which is the point. --DarkfireTaimatsu 23:58, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
The only available Fire-type Pokémon before obtaining the Nation Dex are the Chimchar line and the Ponyta line. There wasn't much of a choice. Besides, all his non-Fire Pokémon know Fire-type moves. If he is listed as an official DP site lists him as a Fire-type trainer than that's good enough for me. We can't just go changing what's official because we feel he doesn't have enough Fire Pokémon. --ケンジガール 00:33, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

No the bloon dos not know any fire type moves. Cerberus 21:14, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Will-o-Wisp causes burns, though, like a Fire move. --DarkfireTaimatsu 21:17, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Will-O-Wisp IS a fire-type move. All of Flint's Pokémon have fire-type attacks, even if they don't cause direct damage. Happy now? And as for the Nat. Dex: You must pass through the Elite 4 before you may obtain the National Dex. Who even says that Flint has a Pokédex in the first place? Berrymaster 22:40, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Why wouldn't he have a Pokedex? And as Fire-moves go, Will-O-Wisp is kinda perfunctionary. - Cassius335 23:01, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Not everyone has a Pokédex. Where's Brock's Pokédex and Misty's Pokédex? Will-O-Wisp IS STILL a Fire-type move. --ケンジガール 23:12, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

LMAO, "we suspect drugs were involved". classic.→User:Thomas1652

magmortar in team

in the advert it shows him releasing a magmortar and its confirmed that the pokedex has been upgraded so he could have a magmortar in his team to make up for the lack of fire. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010 18:56, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Its not a confirmation. Looking at the video closely, you will notice that there is a wifi symbol on the battle scene, and that the place that Magmortar is standing would technically be Volkner's Pokemon. Its just bad placement. I don't think it should be mentioned unless its confirmed.

Brother?

didn't Buck say that he had a brother and Flint is just like him Ultamatecharizard 11:06, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

That's just speculation until we get some official confirmation. Anyway, Buck's page mentions it already, so maybe it could fit into trivia, as long as you word it correctly. --((Marton imos)) 11:09, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
While talking to Buck in Stark mountain he says right-out that Flint is his brother Pyles 17:17, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Drifblim ability

So it says its ability is Unknown, I've gotten Aftermath in mine whenever I attack it. Can anyone else confirm that its always Aftermath in their games?

--Outrage DD 21:05, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Yup, it is Aftermath. I lost because of that =(--Kkllnn blastoise 21:07, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

why is the title Flint (Elite Four)?

I don't see any other Flint----Ultamatecharizard 17:45, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Brock's father. That character is the original Flint, and a highly notable character to boot, hence the Flint disambig. --Shiningpikablu252 17:46, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Concerns about the image.

It is only his upper part. I would really like it if we could find the other half. Superjustinbros. 14:42, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Japanese Villa Comments?

From the Trivia section: "When talking to Volkner in the Villa, he reveals that the reason that Flint uses the Fire-type is because of his name."

Does anyone know what it says in the Japanese version? I can't imagine that it's the same, considering that Flint's Japanese name is apparently based off of an herb. --Dual 07:07, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

  • Apparently, the original japanese text is:

オレが初めてジムバッジを手に入れたときにつかったわざが10まんボルト! あのときのうれしさを忘れないため、オレは電気タイプにこだわりながら強さを求めている。ちなみに、 オーバは自分の名前がわざのオーバーヒートに似ているから炎タイプにこだわっているだけだ。, meaning that Flint (Ooba オーバ) is similar to Overheat (Oobaahiito オーバーヒート). Now I'm wondering what translators of other languages came up with: Adrien, Ignaz, Vulcano, Fausto, 대엽 Daeyeop. --Siegfried 13:33, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Huh, that's not so hard to do. Same Platinum saves can work between all language versions (except Korean). The problem is, that I have never went that far in Platinum. It'd require much extra playing from me. And I'm currently getting through the Korean HGSS. --Maxim 14:37, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Flint's Infernape

So, Flint's Internape... does it deserve its own page? Fair enough, it's only appeared in one episode so far but more than likely it'll appear again as well as the fact that it had a substanital role in the last episode, quite a bit is known about its past and all the other members of the Sinnoh Elite Four have a Pokémon with a specific page so why not Infernape? Watchermark 15:27, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Not yet. R.A. Hunter Blade 19:15, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
I know it's an old discussion but I want to say the exact same thing. Flint's infernape have made 4 appearances in the anime and it was his main Pokémon as well. Don't you guys think that it should have an article? ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 06:31, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
It also appeared in all three of its evolutionary forms. I'd say it at least has a strong case for its own article.--Flint 01:17, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

I agree, Infernape should definatley get it's own page T.Smithurst 16:46, 3 July 2010 (UTC) I've made a page in my userspace and if I say so myself it's preety good, User:05308/Flint's Infernape Lanturn....05308 17:55, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Um, Paul's Drapion got a page, so why not Infernape? J-J-M 14:40, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

Infernape

I have made a page for his main Pokémon, User:05308/Flint's Infernape, and have subbmitted it to prodgect anime's leader: Keji-girl who says it is not a noteable enough Pokémon to have it's own page. I hate to say that I disagree, so I'm asking what reasons everyone else can think of for this page to be or to not be mainspaced? Lanturn....05308 20:22, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

If Kenji-Girl says it's okay, just mainspace it.--Pokélova! 06:20, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Infernape should get it's own page. It's got loads of screentime already, even in DP191. J-J-M 14:53, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
so where is its page? DoTheWave 17:17, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
Because no admin has given permission yet, so... J-J-M 18:14, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Donald?

It just occurred to me, but doesn't Flint look a lot like Ronald McDonald? (or Donald McDonald, as he his known in Japan) Should this be noted in the trivia? Because I think this could very well be more than a coincidence, seeing as McDonald's seems to have a lot to do with special Pokémon events. Especially in Japan. Just search McDonald's in Bulbapedia or Bulbanews, and see for yourself. --BlackySully 13:30, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

DP Infernape's gender

Why isn't the gender of Flint's Infernape in DP (or, for that matter, post-NatDex Platinum) listed? Given everything else we know about his team, it seems ridiculous that that'd be overlooked, so I suspect the reason may be that it's random. If it is random, that should probably be noted under "Trivia", given the rarity of such a situation. If it's not random and his Infernape is always male (as it was in my battle against him), that should be added to the party listings. --Minimiscience 23:51, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Well, this IS a huge wiki. Naturally, there would be minor slip-ups like that. I'll take care of it because it is, as you said, always male. SharKing Productions 23:55, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Overworld sprites

Where actually are the overworld sprites for the Gen IV elite Four? I wanted to use them but I can't find them. --Teddi'Ampha

One trivia I have a problem with.

"Flint is the only member of the Elite Four that has a starter Pokémon."

Since I don't want to go into a revert war I am gonna discuss this.

I don't think this is true. Lance has a Charizard in GSC though he is a champion in that game, but he wasn't in the original game.

Also I wanna ask, shouldn't champions count as part of the elite four? I mean they are fought after you're done with the other four trainers, so I don't see why they shouldn't count.

If they count (which I think they should) Flint is the third one to have a starter Pokémon. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 15:05, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

No, because the Elite Four and the Champion are different entities. Plus, it'd be the Elite Five if the Champion was part of them. R.A. Hunter Blade 15:54, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
