EP037

Electric Soldier Porygon is definitly EP037, not EP035. Legend of Dratini is EP035. Someone needs to move this. -GreenGiant

Gah, I'm such a twat. Sorry. Heh, funny that I mixed it up with another un-aired English episode. XD - Ferret 01:55, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Missing episode?

shouldn't pikachu goodbye be on the list since it aired before EP40? - pokeant

Yes, that's what happened, but my personal theory is that what is now EP039 did not exist before the incident. - 振霖T 14:24, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Fix the problem?

If flashing lights caused it to be banned, couldn't they just edit the clip so that it flashes at a lower frequency? If so, they could just re-air the episode. Also, they could add a warning at the start of the episode to not watch it in the dark. That's what they did to the video games.

Yes, that has been brought up many times. However, it is also important to remember that this episode probably is a bad memory for those affected and a bad note on Pokémon's reputation. On top of that, the Japanese government banned any showings of the episode. It seems like an easy problem to solve, but there are many factors which prevent such. --Pie ~ 01:55, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Just so y'all know...

There is a subtitled, but otherwise unedited, version of the episode online. Having watched it (no, I did not have a seizure), I can honestly say that it's a shame that the episode was never edited and re-aired--it was a really good episode. (And yes, they added a disclaimer.) Shippinator Mandy 19:11, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Translation?

What is the real translation for this:

  • でんのうせんしポリゴン

I looked around and found this:

  • So it is the [u] plug to do, polygon

Tesh 20:21, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

..Um..no... "でんのう" translates to "electric brain" (電脳), which we just call a computer. "せんし" is literally "warrior" (戦士) but is usually taken to mean "soldier." And "ポリゴン" is Porygon. (It's the same as the Japanese word for "polygon.")--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 05:17, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Where?

Does anyone know where i can find a video of it online for free? -Theininen 02:53, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Check YouTube, or just search Google for it. TTEchidna 03:44, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't think YouTube is such a good idea. Sure, it has full length episodes, but videos get deleted every day and the uploaders often get suspended in the progress, YouTube doesn't tolerate copyright violation. But you could watch the YouTube videos while they last. TheBlazikenMaster 19:43, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, but they always come back and reupload. Besides, there's nowhere else you can find the episode, period. TTEchidna 20:31, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
That's not exactly true, I own over 150 on DVD. Besides the Internet is a big place, there are sites out there that do in fact have illegal copy of the episodes. YouTube is a good idea, but you're wrong if you think it's the only place. TheBlazikenMaster 20:34, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

DVD

Is this featured on the Volume 2 of Pokémon Season 1 I'm dying to see this with the seizure scene toned down Livinlarge18 17:37, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Doubtful. For that to happen, the Japanese government would have to lift the global ban. In the extremely unlikely event that were to happen, the episode would then have to be freshly dubbed without the 4Kids actors, which would make it look out of place surrounded by a bunch of 4Kids-dubbed episodes. Sorry. --Shiningpikablu252 18:03, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
No it isn't. Sorry. TheBlazikenMaster 20:36, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Wasn't it already dubbed by 4Kids, though? I mean, Maddie DID say something about it being dubbed in the us. Then again, Rachiel Lillis Did say something about not dubbing it as well. Weedle Mchairybug 16:35, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
It was fixed so that the problematic flashes were slowed down, reducing the risk of seizures. However, due to the episode being banned by the Japanese government, it could not even be aired under the aforementioned conditions. Nowadays, you can only watch it on video sites like YouTube, and only in Japanese. SharKing 20:49, 26 August 2008 (UTC)SharKing

So um.

Maddie said 4Kids dubbed it. Someone had to have read the title card. TTEchidna 19:35, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

I dont think 4Kids ever gave the Episode an English title. Someone should realy ask them, just to make sure. 'ŚĥîΠŶPî₭₳ĉĥŭ' 19:20, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

I tried emailing Veronica Taylor about it, since, being the voice of Ash, she most likely would have read the title card, but I never got a response. Mattrd08 20:32, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

You need to begin your email title with Pokémon, stupid! magikarp123193 22:42, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Why isn't this page protected?

Yeah, I'm new here, and I was wondering... Why isn't the Electric Soldier Porygon page protected? I mean, it needs to be protected or else vandals will make it say that the Japanese government is EVIL!

For as long as I have been here, I don't recall anything like that happening... |>H1|2357R1K3 19:05, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

"Banned by the Japanese Government"

I know this isn't Wikipedia but I think I can say here citation needed.

First, no such claims are made or substantiated on the Wikipedia page, which would be really surprising if it was true (I've found it on another page but again without citation, and it looks like it was copied from here or vice versa). Second, Google doesn't come up with anything besides forums either. Finally, the implication is that the episode itself is banned regardless of how safe it is made to watch (i.e. by removing the flashing), which is far too daft to be true. I know that Japan and most countries have censorship to some extent and I'm not saying it isn't legally possible, but I really can't see them wasting time banning an episode just because an earlier version was bad.

Let's not get too caught up in the logic of censorship though as my last point isn't as important as the first two - there is no source.

My only guess as to what have created this myth - without bothering to check - is that the TV station that Pokémon airs on is government owned. But a government owned channel banning an episode is really not the same.--Cyberdude93 11:29, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Possible Virus?

Hi, I just thought I'd tell you all that the "Japanese site showing news reports" might contain a virus. A few months ago, I was looking at this page and then decided to open that link on another tab. Just after I had finished looking, and closed the page, my internet security thing gave me a message stating that it had blocked a "Bloodhound" virus. The only other tab open was Bulbapedia, so I think the perpatrator is that other site. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and, if so, should it be deleted? I can't stop thinking of you, the Soul of the Dawn we spent together... 15:48, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

A small favour

Hi, as the founder of Wikisimpsons on ShoutWiki, I was just wondering whether I would be able to link the Simpsons related articles linked here from Wikipedia to Wikisimpsons instead? Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 11:01, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Prev-Next Episode

What does everyone think of changing the Prev-Next episode box at the top of this page to conform to a new order that would go: EP038 Holiday Hi-Jynx EP40 (unaired) Snow Way Out! EP039 ? This order would make these episodes a lot easier to comprehend to people visiting the articles. --LimeGreenCharizard-- 11:17, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Character names

Since there's no dub of this episode, shouldn't this page use the Japanese names, rather than the English ones? (i.e., Satoshi instead of Ash, etc.) I thought that was the practice here, though I may well be wrong. dendodge t 23:53, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
