either that it will evolve to the cloak of where it last was or the game crashes, since crashing means that something that was not supposed to happen happens, although i'll say it will evolve to its previous cloak. but tests must be taken.

For the animated picture of the torn world above Mt. Coronet, where is that from? It says skip in the corner, so I'm guessing a website?----HoennMaster 04:19, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

What are you talking about? The picture's neither animated nor says "skip" anywhere.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 05:26, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

This one here, which is on the article page.

File:Montecorona13jun08.gif

----HoennMaster 06:50, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah... there's nothing there. That image isn't animated, and there's no text in any corner, at least not large enough to be seen. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 07:15, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Animated...drawn...art...I don't care what it is called. On the Sinnoh page this picture has the word skipped in it.

----HoennMaster 09:05, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

...well, then, maybe you should've brought it up on that page or at least said this in the first place. And yes, it's from the website.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 15:36, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Probably some kind of opening sequence one can skip. And... animated and drawn are two very, very different things. Animated indicates that there's at least some motion. That image is quite static. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 17:08, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Reverse World?

Is the Torn World in Pokemon Platinum the same place as the Reverse World in the Movie or is that a completely different place? They were both depicted as Giratina's Domain, so are they?

No. We have no official proof that they are one and the same as the only way to access the Reverse World is to go to Spear PIllar and the Torn World can be accessed everywhere. That, and we still don't have proof so don't jump to conclusions. Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links12:50 21 Aug 2008
According to Giratina and the Sky Warrior (00:23:17), Mugen said that Reverse World simply speaking is Distortion World.--Swampert 12:40, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Locations?

If a Giratina from Platinum (or any Pokemon obtained in any new location) is traded to an English Diamond and Pearl, where will it say it came from in the memo? Unlike earlier generations, where it was only in English, in which they took the name of the location that it said on the memo in the game it came from (thus if it was hacked, then it could say anything) this generation allows trading across the world, and just says the English equivalent. As Nintendo of America was not working on Platinum during the production of Diamond and Pearl (or maybe Japan didn't even THINK of Platinum back then, so even in Japan, unless they worked it the way they did in Gen. 3, or rewire it like they did for the Berry glitch fix, this problem would crop up), there will BE NO equivalent, (besides, if there were, then hackers would have discovered it like they did with the Johto thing: see Pokémon Gold and Silver remakes) so unless Nintendo rewires the games like they did for the Berry glitch fix, there's no telling what could happen! TorchicBlaziken 16:01, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

If they rewire the games, people will be suspicious, unless they do it in Japan for the reason explained in one of the earlier parentheses. OR MAYBE Nintendo of America planned this and made an extra in Shadows of Almia (which notably isn't coming out in America until AFTER Platinum comes out) to fix it like they did in FR/LG for the Berry glitch, but what if someone gets one of those Giratina in a trade on the GTS before that? TorchicBlaziken 16:07, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, only one way to find out. Porygon-Z, I choose you! Trade me your Origin Forme Giratina as soon as you get it, for my Another Forme Giratina! Then... Origin Forme-ize mine to see if it works and then we'll trade back. TTEchidna 05:55, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
I used an Action Replay code that I found on a cheat website to get a shiny Spiritomb, and it says that it was caught in Space World. I used to figure that that could be an indication that Nintendo planned another Spaceworld event sometime in the near future, but now I'm starting to think that it may be the English name for the Torn World. Probably not, since that would mean people knew about Platinum long before it was announced, but who knows? I'll try to get a picture of it sometime soon. -- Umbee 22:18, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Here: [1] -- Umbee 22:12, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Just recieved a Platinum Giratina from the GTS. In D/P, the location is shown as 'Faraway place'. -- Umbee 16:08, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Odd. Which brings me to wonder: what does the Sudowoodo from the Battle Frontier or a Smeargle from Artisan Cave say in RS? Obviously something caught on Route 101 says Route 101 like they do between RS games. But would it say Battle Tower? TTEchidna 04:42, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
No. It would say Artisan Cave. In Gen. III, the location names are copied with trades, like I said. So if a Pokemon was hacked to come from, say, "Lala Land," then when it is traded it will say, "Lala Land."
What are you talking about? If a Pokemon from, say, FR/LG is traded to R/S, the location shows up as 'Met in a trade' because R/S doesn't recognize Kanto location data. For example, the Lugia in this picture, which was traded from XD to LeafGreen: [2] LeafGreen doesn't recognize Citadark Isle as a valid location, so it uses a location that it knows. The same appears to be true for Gen IV. -- Umbee 14:53, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Name?

The issue of Nintendo Official Magazine dated October, calls this the "Ruined World". Should we change this? Gywall(Talk) 09:54, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

"Ruined" is just as accurate, so yes, probably...--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 23:24, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
What region is that magazine released in? Either way, this sounds as official as "Mikli Cup". --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 15:32, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
The United Kingdom. (Uh...Mikli Cup...?)--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 01:00, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Australian magazine pretty much gave away every DP episode up to 100. However they called the Wallace (Mikuri) Cup the "Mikli" cup. Likely a poor transliteration of Mikuri by those who have no fricking idea who any of Pokémon's characters are, but still. TTEchidna 04:35, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Magnetic Zones

Someone with Platinum should confirm if Mt. Coronet extends to the Ruined World - by battling and beating Giratina in the Ruined World (albeit not saving of course) with a Nosepass or Magneton which needs at least the Giratina-amount of Exp. to level up. I'm mentioning this on the Spear Pillar talk page as well. Satosuke 03:03, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Rare Candy works just as well... TTEchidna 04:23, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Doesn't the entrance to Ruined World lay in Turnback Cave?--Tavisource 04:25, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
TTEchidna, didn't think of that. But to Tavisourse, Turnback Cave lets you return to the Ruined World - albeit a new part of it with the Platinum Orb. Giratina's area of the Ruined World is reached from the Spear Pillar. Satosuke 04:38, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
On second thought, because it's also reachable from Turnback Cave, it's probably not an extension of the Magnetic Zone. However, the game could have two different Ruined World areas programed, since it's a different part of the Ruined World when you go to it by Turnback Cave entrance. Satosuke 05:02, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Anyone wanna test it? TTEchidna 08:09, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Different name?

I found this image recently... It claims the name of the area is really called "the Torn Dungeon" [3] ... ~m190049~talk 04:23, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Hmm... This may prove difficult. Any release dates mentioned yet? March? Please? TTEchidna 08:08, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Has anywhere in a Pokémon game been called a "dungeon" properly. I know Cerulean Cave was often called the Uknown Dungeon prior to FireRed and Leaf Green.. So far, we've seen two different possible English names. Ruined World, as I stated above.. now this. In honest, I'd wait until the game sees an English release before moving it again.
As another note to above. Isn't a dungeon a cold stone place? There is blatantly a sky visible when going through that piece of crazy. Gywall(Talk) 10:53, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Distortion World

Someone with the power to, please move this from Ruined World to Distortion World. That's the official English title. Where did this Ruined World business come from anyhow? Seems Nintendo can change its mind at anytime. Satosuke 15:55, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Circuit City is not a suitable source for the name. Until another source, one which is more reliable, uses the name Distortion World, the article stays where it is. That's why it was protected. Cipher (Talk) 15:57, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
I agree. Where did this Ruined World business come from? TorchicBlaziken (talkedits) 20:42, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Exactly.Who says that the place is ruined? It's just a change gravity and the laws of Physics.Uxie Legend 10:59, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
"Ruined World" came from a Nintendo magazine from back before the official press releases. And ask the Japanese why it's ruined, they made up the name.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 00:00, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Why you can walk on walls...

Well, Dialga controls the one temporal dimension of this universe, and Palkia controls the three spacial ones... what if Giratina controlled the fourth spacial dimension, and the fact that Lucas/Dawn goes around walking on walls is only an illusion because we can't see/render four-dimensional objects, only a three-dimensional projection of them. A tesseract's an object whose sides are all cubes, like a cube's sides are all squares and a square's are all lines. TTEchidna 23:35, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Bit of an abstract concept don't you think? Little bit more likely that physics there just operate on a different level, such as gravity being directional. In that case, Giratina would distort reality, which fits in more with it's background info, as well as the potential name from Circuit City. Besides that, there really not a whole lot of evidence for Giratina controling a fifth dimension. Aura-Knight 02:23, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
It makes sense to me. And Giratina controlling a fourth spatial dimension makes more sense than most other theories I've heard, given how Palkia gets the other three and Dialga the temporal dimension. --MartonI'm Jewishimos 13:20, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Ruined World?

Yeah, I read that this name was in a Nintendo Magazine. But now we have at least three English names for this place (Ruined World, Torn Dungeon and Distortion World). I think we should move the page to the official name we have yet Torn World. I am doubting of this Ruined World, until a very official page or magazine confirms the name. I don't think that we should trust on a magazine before an official listing. --Nick., something to say? 00:09, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Distortion World comes from the circuit city page, which was states as unreliable above. Torn World/Dungeon comes from a translation of the Japanese name. Ruined World was used in the official Nintendo magazine in the UK. As a result, Ruined World is the most reliable translation from a Nintendo source so far. The name will likely change with the US Platinum release, which won't take long to gather if Japanese save files are compatible with the US version. Gywall(Talk) 22:10, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Dear Sysop...

(the section for edits you --Purimpopoie 17:09, 18 December 2008 (UTC)want the sysops that can edit to make)

Dear Sysop, I would like you to note on the page that while the entrances to this dimension are in Sinnoh, it is actually not part of Sinnoh at all, rather that the areas that the player visits are parallel with Sinnoh. TorchicBlaziken (talkedits) 16:23, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Cynthia?

The artwork shows cynthia? Does she come to the runined world with you?- unsigned comment from David aipom (talkcontribs)

Cynthia enters with the player. In fact, the player meets her at Spear Pillar before entering. Gywall(Talk) 22:18, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Distortion World

According to this page, it's going to be called the Distortion World. Could an admin move it please since it's protected? ←{Berrymaster|Talk|Contrib}→ 20:38, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Mt. Coronet

I guess it's a silly question, but is the Distortion World considered part of Mt. Coronet by the game? That is, do Magneton and Nosepass evolve if leveled up within? On that note, both sides of the Distortion world would have to be checked: the one you enter while chasing Cyrus, and the one you enter after becoming Champion. --Purimpopoie 17:09, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

I checked the Turnback Cave side by using a Rare Candy on Nosepass; it didn't level up. I'll check the Cyrus side. MagicBarrier 03:43, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Edit request

I'm requesting an edit. Please put the images other than the infobox one into a gallery. Having them spread around the page shoves the text too much in some places. Chocolate (Merry Christmas!) 01:50 12/20/2008

I also request that all the "Another Formes" on this page be changed to Altered Forme, because that is the official name. TorchicBlaziken (talkedits) 19:54, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Plat. Orb area

I'd like to mention that the area by where the platinum orb is is another Gitatina capture spot, in incase you missed it the first time.

User:Metalucario

Are you trying to say that you can go back to where Giratina already was to get the Platinum Orb in-case you missed it? You have to beat the Elite 4 and then go back before you even have a chance to get it at all. Ryuartyi 01:05, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

No. I saw this in a video. North of the platinum orb is a seris of floating platforms like in the larger area where you can catch attempt to catch it again. User:Metalucario12:39, 23 Feb 2009

Map

How will you do the map of this place? First time here: wherever you entered from Mt. Coronet (four choices). After Elite Four: Turnback Cave. Total of five. *tc26* 08:42, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Slight error?

I checked the map when I first entered the Distortion World chasing Cyrus. For some reason, my location was: "Route 208: A lush field of grass spreads from Mt. Coronet's sheer rock face, creating a vista of contrasts." Shouldn't this be in the article? I mean, it's surely a error of some sort. Team Hyper 15:38, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

No... any time you go into Mt. Coronet, it keeps the map on the last route you were on before you entered. R.A. Hunter Blade 23:29, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Again, no, It only does that when you reach the PEAK of Mt. Coronet, and it kinda makes sense for it to do that with the Distortion World, as it DISTORTS your location. --Sting the Trainer 23:27, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Distortion World in Diamond/Pearl

In the begining of the game when it is doing the report of the red gyarodos the screen shows mount coronet with a dark cloud overhead. This looks a lot like the screenshot that is at the top of this page. Is this trivial worthy considering you can't enter this place in d/p. -- Landfish7 17:13, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

No. -Sketch 17:29, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Burmy

Does anyone know how it will evolve if you level it up against giratina in here? I'd check myself, but I don't have Platinum and my brother refuses to not capture giratina, even without saving it.--Mtn otter I am the Void 00:37, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Don't know, but I think it will retain its previous form anytime in Distortion World. -- RikkiKitsune 00:41, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
That was my hunch too, but I wanted to confirm it before putting it on burmy's page.--Mtn otter I am the Void 00:49, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

either that it will evolve to the cloak of where it last was or the game crashes, since crashing means that something that was not supposed to happen happens, although i'll say it will evolve to its previous cloak. but tests must be taken. --Nobody777 09:35, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
