The article links to the page of the wrong Paul Kitson, a retired british soccer player, on wikipedia. A page for the correct person does not seem to exist, possibly because it didn't meet their notability requirements(though as he has a role in a high-profile movie, he may now qualify.)

So it does, though the table is constructed in such a way that it can't not link anywhere, unfortunatelly. Though, when/if they make that article on Wikipedia we can link it right, until then I'm afraid it has to stay this way, unless someone in the staff changes how the table works which I don't think will happen to be honest since that eould require a lot of clean up on other articles since that template is widely used. --Raltseye prata med mej 23:05, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

Move to "Pokémon: Detective Pikachu"

The official title of this movie, as referenced by the trailers, IMDB info, etc, is Pokémon: Detective Pikachu. Shouldn't the page be moved there? → PikaTepig999 15:03, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

I'll just say it flat-out. Trivia has a bunch of random interesting facts. Distribution rights changing hands is a random interesting fact. References to the anime is a random interesting fact. References to Smash is a random interesting fact. Pikachu's voice actor in Hungary is a random interesting fact. Ludicolo's voice actor is a random interesting fact. Attempting to move article to "Pokémon: Detective Pikachu"

So I'm attempting to move this page as to change the name of it to whatever you guys want it to be, but have no way of moving it.

The proposal to move this article to Pokémon Detective Pikachu has what appears to be unanimous support, with 2 support votes back when it was first proposed in 2019 and 3 additional support votes in 2020 and 2021, so I thought I'd circle back to this by saying I also support the move, barring any new information I'm missing that suggests we shouldn't. I think it's a fair move. It has the potential to make the links to this page easier to differentiate from the character and the game, and is in line with how we treat other broadcasts, like Pokémon: Twilight Wings and Pokémon Generations. ^Maverick_Nate 06:37, 29 January 2023 (UTC)

Where should we move this page anyway? because from what i can tell there's at least 3 different spellings of the title:

• The official press site calls it "POKÉMON Detective Pikachu".
• A ton of third party websites like Wikipedia and IMDB call it "Pokémon: Detective Pikachu".
• Google Play and Netflix call it "Pokémon Detective Pikachu" (without the colon).

I'm suggesting Pokémon Detective Pikachu (Title case and no colon) as well. This will make it easier to work with all of BP's existing link templates. The intro line can say stylized as POKÉMON Detective Pikachu or Pokémon: Detective Pikachu. → PikaTepig999 02:25, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

My philosophy for conflicting titles is that whatever is on the product should take priority for the article title, and any other titles can be listed as alternates. I'll note that I don't apply this same logic to the colon—the official logo has a line break, which can be converted to either a space or a colon when displayed in plaintext.

So since the official logo (used on posters, art on streaming sites, DVDs, etc.) uses "Pokémon" rather than "POKÉMON", that would indicate we should be using the lowercase variant as the title. However, it also appears that the reverse of the DVD/Blu-ray cover calls it "POKÉMON Detective Pikachu", which for me would usually be the definitive source-of-truth. Given the fact that the streaming services seem to use lowercase, I'm willing to defer to them (and the logo) in this case, and go for "Pokémon Detective Pikachu". (I cannot see much support for "Pokémon: Detective Pikachu" in official sources however, so I do not think we should use that.)

As a sidenote, what is "easier" for Bulbapedia templates should never factor into these kind of decisions. The titles of the Let's Go games are a huge pain due to how differently structured they are to other game titles, but we still use them because those are the official titles. --SnorlaxMonster 11:37, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

For the record, discussion amongst staff has brought to light that game logos don't necessarily dictate the formatting when typed out, which indicates that, since official sources use POKÉMON Detective Pikachu, that's what we should use. Landfish7 20:02, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

In reply to SM, I meant that using Title case has the added benefit of being easy to use with BP templates, on top of all the evidence like the logo, title used on streaming services, etc. But if you guys want to go ahead with POKÉMON Detective Pikachu, I went back and looked at the websites, they also seem to write POKEMON in all caps. Yeah, as Landfish7 stated, it seems that first-party sources (the DVD cover, official websites, press releases, official social media, etc.) seem to use "POKÉMON Detective Pikachu" fairly consistently. Whereas streaming sites are still third-party sources, so less definitive for titles when there is a dispute.
