Dawn's Buizel

How could Dawn use Buizel in Mounting a Corridnater Assault when see didn't catch it until DP034? --User:Theryguy512 12:21, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

It wasn't Dawn's Buizel, it was another coordinator's. --PAK Man Talk 16:28, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Oh, thanks for clearing that up. --User:Theryguy512 22:02, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Tails on Buizel's page

As there is zero definitive proof (and it is also highly unlikely) that Buizel is in any way based off of the character Tails, he should not be mentioned at all in the Origin section, a statement on any resemblance between the characters in the Trivia section would be more in line with the Bulbapedia standards. Trainer-c

Dude, Buizel is orange, JUST LIKE TAILS. Buizel has TWO tails, JUST LIKE TAILS. Using it's tails, Buizel can FLY, JUST LIKE TAILS!!! It's pretty clear that Nintendo just ripped off Sega... --Theryguy512 22:35, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

I play Sonic, and Tails is YELLOW!!!!--Kuki 22:36, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Tails is orange. See? TTEchidna 23:53, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
It's pretty clear that Nintendo just ripped off Sega... That means that Gaemfreekz is running out of ideaz, rite? D8 *runs* Tina δ 23:57, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Tails is not as orange as Buizel is though! And isn't he more of a cat?--Kuki 23:59, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

I can rattle off ways in which the characters are dissimilar, but that would not be productive. The simple fact is that it is extremely unlikely that Buizel is based off of tails, as such mention of any similarities is purely trivial, and thus belongs in the trivia section. Trainer-c 07:22, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
...Tails is a fox. Come ON Kuki, you call yourself a fan of Sonic. *grumbles about post-SA2* TTEchidna 08:34, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
It is mosty likely a coincidence. After all, SEGA is pretty much...animal. Pokémon is pretty much...animal. Optimatum♏Talk|08:42 6 Apr 2008
OMGZ SANDSLASH RIPS OF KUNLKES!! TTEchidna 10:12, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

What are you going to say next? Sonic gets a green female hedgehog friend that is on all fours with a flower in its head? You going to say that's Shaymin?--Kuki 12:38, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Well, first of, that character would be made AFTER Shaymin, which makes it look like Sonic ripped off Pokémon. And why are you so against this?PL12 12:46, 6 April 2008(UTC)

I'm not really against it, but saying that they took ideas from each other doesn't sound right.--Kuki 12:47, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Naruto must be based on Tails too, both orange, both foxes, both eternally chasing a spikey-headed blue dude that is too cool for school. Vilpix, must be too. Trainer-c 14:44, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
I still see there has been no evidence brought forward to support Tails being present in the Origin section, yet the edit I made has been reverted. Trainer-c 12:24, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Buizel could have been based on any number of things; It has very similar features to Tails, therefore that could be one of the origins of Buizels design. So I think that it should be included in the origin section. TESHIGIGAS 13:11, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
This is a clear reference.
Why else would a pure-water Pokémon be given the power of flight? --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 13:51, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Good Point. TESHIGIGAS 13:50, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
The Pokédex entries for Buizel state the tails are used as a propeller for swimming (reflective of how Sea Otters have muscular tails used to propel them), they do not mention flying at all. The anime has been known to take creative license. I really do find it difficult to believe that Buizel's origin involves Tails. Especially since this is one of those species of Pokémon that is basically just an enhanced version of a real-world animal. Trainer-c 16:10, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
How many real-world animals use two tails as a propeller? --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 14:45, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Okay,: 1. I don't think buizel is comepletely based on Tails. Just the fact that they're orange, have two tails, and can fly using them like propellers. 2. The only similarities between Knuckles and Sandslash are alike are that they have claws. 3. About the Shaymin thing... In the Sonic comic books, there is a green hedgehog, but that's their only similarity! Scourge (the green hedgehog) is a guy, walks on two legs, is evil, and wouldn't be caught dead with flowers in his hair.--Starlight the ampharos 21:16, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Buizel does bare resemblance to Tails, but I think it really belongs in the Trivia section, not in Origin. Taromon 22:51, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Transliteration

Is there any reason for having ブイゼル transliterated as Buoysel? The romanised katakana say "buizeru", which sounds just like weasel preceded by a B as far as I can tell, while Buoysel sounds nothing like it. I don't want to change it without making sure there isn't some other reason, such as a different romanization scheme, first. —Aiea 20:25, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

I just looked up buoy on wiktionary, and it seems that yes, in US English, buoy is pronounced like the beginning of weasel. I would still suggest a more phonetic transcription of the sound, though, as it is ambiguous depending on accent for English speakers. —Aiea 20:28, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Ask Gamefreak. They trademarked the romanisation Buoysel, which is why we use it. Werdnae (talk) 21:10, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Better yet, ask NoA why they went for a localization of the name that more resembled a direct transliteration. ¯\(º_o)/¯ 梅子 21:15, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
