Question about Chain Breeding Guidelines

Sorry if this is listed somewhere on the wiki, but I wasn't able to find it. Currently, there are a number of different possible chain breeds (that go through different egg groups) for certain Pokemon that get Belch. However, some are shorter than others. If a Pokemon learns something through chain breeding, is only the fastest chain(s) wanted, or should all of them remain? VioletPumpkin (talk) 16:39, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

No longer necessary for this page, because it became much more clear-cut after several incorrect listings were removed.VioletPumpkin (talk) 02:48, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

Move Blocked in Battle

I just added my experience with this happening to me. There is something I'm quite interested in related to this. I wonder what would happen if a player only knows two moves (Belch and another) and Torment activates. A player unable to Belch might find the game incapable of proceeding past the other move without activating Struggle.

Is anyone in a position to test this? I can do so once I have a setup for it, but if anyone else can do so already that would be useful. CycloneGU (talk) 02:41, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

How does this move work?

Maybe I'm just getting bogged down in semantics again, but exactly how does this move work? I've seen two possible interpretations:

  1. User must hold a Berry; Belch consumes the Berry upon use. (In which case it's basically a Poison-type and stronger version of Natural Gift)
  2. User must hold a Berry and automatically consume it before using Belch.

Which one is it? I don't have a Belcher on hand to confirm personally yet. --Stratelier 07:04, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

The second one is more or less how it works; until the Pokemon with Belch eats a held Berry, attempting to use Belch will bring up text telling you that you can't use the move, similar to attempting to use moves that have been locked out by Taunt, Choice items, etc. Once it has eaten a Berry, you can use Belch as often as you like during that battle. Since the main page could easily lead to misunderstandings, I clarified it and added more detail. VioletPumpkin (talk) 03:54, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. (It also happens that I was just defeated in the Battle Maison by a Swalot with Stockpile and Belch; I did notice that Swalot didn't start using the move until after it had consumed the Berry.) --Stratelier 20:19, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
