Disguise

I am not the only one who thinks this, but it appears Oobemu is wearing shades, a trenchcoat, and a large hat, akin to an alien trying to disguise itself among humans like the martian manhunter did in Justice League: The New Frontier, among other sci-fi stories. It does fit in with its origins and characteristics and I do believe should be added to the Trivia or Physiology or whatever. Again, many other people do agree with this. --Ryuutakeshi 02:04, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

I can definitely see the resemblance. Good eye, didn't notice it before. :0 Jo The Marten 02:19, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

I think it should be noted that Beheeyem have a heavy correlation with the Men in Black, due to its appearance, use of powers to manipulate memories, and its alien origins. One of the theories surrounding these mysterious men is that they could be aliens who police the earth and cover up alien encounters. --Oleandervine 19:19, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

Druids?

It seems to me that Oobemu's apperance very much resembles traditional druid robes. I just thought I would bring it up because we mentiond the stone circles (wich are used in some druid traditions). What do you think?--EpicShadow 18:35, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Name origin

Could "Beheeyem" also come from beam? I think they sound somewhat alike when pronounced, although i may be the only one. --~~☆Flyingtypefan☆~~ Talk Name origin 21:17, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

More possible name origin

I'd like point out the fact that his japanese name, Oobemu, contains the acronym OOBE, which stands for "Out Of Body Experience", a kind of paranormal phenomenon. I don't think that's a coincidence! --Lawrence91 17:05, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

name pronunciation

Really, it's hard for non native English speaker to pronunce its name. How do you pronunce it? --SamuStar 14:06, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

We don't put pronunciation guides on Pokémon articles. To ask general questions, please use the forums. --SnorlaxMonster 14:37, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

yeah, instead of writing that useless answer you could have write the pronunciation, I just asked one thing which can be asked in 5 seconds... --SamuStar 22:28, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Beheeyem is derived from the acronym BEM, or "bug-eyed monster", an old-fashioned term for alien, pronounced as individual letters. The term was popularized in Japan by the anime Yōkai Ningen Bemu, and popularized in the UK by Doctor Who, most famously with the Daleks. It's stated in the article. Ataro 22:33, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

thank you, so based on the name origin it's pronunced like "B.E.M.", right? --SamuStar 22:38, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Yep. :--SuperAipom7 (Questions?) 22:04, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Daleks?

Is it just me, or do the look like daleks from doctor who? Beheeyems have domed bodies like daleks, and it has four dalek like spots. Beheeyems speak through light patterns like the lights on daleks' heads. The lines around it's eyes resemble the black "neck" below a daleks eye stocks. Finally, Beheeyems teal eyes look like one, similar to a daleks single blue eye stock. I am pretty sure that this resemblance is true, but correct me if i'm wrong.Spaceman46 00:54, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

I don't really think so. Beheeyem communicates somewhat like Morse code + semaphore, whereas Daleks actually speak. I don't really see a resemblance between the lines and a Dalek's neck. Lastly, the eyes don't really look anything like a Dalek's stock. The only resemblance I see personally would be the buttons on Beheeyem's front abdomen, they resemble the self-destructive spheres around a Dalek. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 01:15, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
I added the bit about the spheres to the origin section. There was actually a Japanese Dalek made by Yukio Sekiguchi in 1980, and its 'hand' does resemble Beheeyem's. It's a bit obscure though.

TM51

So the article mentions that TM51 may be an oversight but it may have been intentional. To reference the USA's secret military base where aliens were supposed taken. Just a thought =]

Hayate (talk) 05:30, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Area 51? It would make a little bit of sense, because a lot of TMs were changed between Gens V and VI, and I don't think any other "transfer-only" Pokémon ended up with a weird move in their arsenal like this. To me it seems a bit more believable than the rather weak "oversight" defense. --KiANGLO (TALK) 23:43, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

Regarding Steel Wing

Hello! I would like to discuss the trivia point regarding Steel Wing, and I'm going to preface this with an explanation of what has already happened. This point initially mentioned Area 51 as a possible origin for Elgyem and Beheeyem learning TM51 even when it contained Steel Wing. It was then changed to be "less speculative" and outright say it was probably an oversight. This is still speculation, just on the opposite side: we haven't gotten explicit confirmation that it was an oversight any more than we have gotten explicit confirmation that it was intentional. Later, I changed it to be more neutral, but was told it was not notable unless it attempted to explain it. Except that it was first changed due to being speculative, and the result was no less so, so if it can't be speculation and it can't exist unless it has speculation, I decided, "hey, maybe it just shouldn't exist." So I deleted it. This was then reverted by Force Fire, who clarified that it was a mistake on his part, and he had thought I was someone else and was trying to prevent vandalism. Except... it's still here. Now, I know that if I remove it again now without explaining, I'll probably just get in trouble for "edit warring," because its removal was reverted once. That said, the only time it was reverted was clarified to be by mistake, and I've already explained that it's still speculative and needs to either be more neutral or removed, and I've been told that being more neutral makes it unnotable. Because of that, I believe I'm justified removing the trivia point now - on both this page and Elgyem's - and would appreciate if it's not readded without any discussion on the matter. There's another discussion on this talk page on a related matter (albeit disagreeing with the notion that it was an error, not with it being mentioned at all), evidencing that, already, there have been people other than myself who disagree that it's an oversight - obviously, again, making the claim that it's probably an oversight is just as speculative as making the claim that it's not. Additionally, no reason has been given for the point to be here. I'm removing it now, and again, please discuss on the talk page and explain why if you're going to add it again. Sorry for the wall of text! Just wanted to explain myself before someone assumes I'm just edit-warring for no reason, and to invite anyone who disagrees to actually explain why.
