Necessary

... is this page really necessary? --Pie ~ 23:12, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

It may serve better transformed into a "main cast" human and Pokémon list for each series. *shrug* --Argy 23:33, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
That would work well. I'll begin work on it, with the bare people and Pokémon parts. - unsigned comment from TTEchidna (talkcontribs)

Charts...

Think they, or something like them, would be useful on Ash's page, to break down his team over the course of the anime, maybe replacing the current list we have?

Instead of being horizontal, though, it'd be vertical, due to the immense amount of Pokémon he's caught compared to the others. Like below, though I'm going just through Kanto and Orange.

Kanto Orange Archipelago
Pikachu (C) Lapras (C)
Caterpie (C) Snorlax (C)
Pidgeotto (C) Lapras (R)
Metapod (E)
Butterfree (E)
Bulbasaur (C)
Charmander (C)
Squirtle (C)
Krabby (C)
Raticate (T)
Butterfree (R)
Haunter (B)
Haunter (R)
Primeape (C)
Primeape (R)
Muk (C)
Tauros (C)
Charmeleon (E)
Charizard (E)
Kingler (E)
Pidgeot (E, R)

Yeah... Maybe? It'd be nice to have a by-episode breakdown of acquired Pokémon, even, if we could do it, broken up by either anime season or anime series. Opinions? I think it'd be useful for those whowant to see just what Ash's team was as of a particular episode. --TTEchidna 14:39, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Er... I don't like it very much, sorry t'say. Though that makes me think; maybe a separate article with a timeline of important anime events... --Pie ~ 14:43, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I was thinking we could do that instead, and include all characters' Pokémon. Something like, List of Pokémon owned by main characters in the anime by first appearance? --TTEchidna 04:34, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
They're already on the list of anime characters, which goes by order of appearance... I think a timeline of events would be more useful. --Pie ~ 04:44, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
That'd work. --TTEchidna 09:11, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

The reason why I redirected the page "Team Twerp" to Ash's friends

The reason why I redirected the page "Team Twerp" to Ash's friends is because Team Rocket calls Ash and his friends Twerps. Got it-- checked! Noted! Filed! Stored!

User: FREAKAZOID

Speaking of which... how can you have a main characters page without JJ&M? Cassius335 13:48, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Don't ask me. I'm not the one who made the article (not to be rude or anything). User: FREAKAZOID

Gary?

With DP083's airing, Ash and Gary's rivalry has been resolved for 274 episodes (or a couple more), the same amount of time he was Ash's rival. Shouldn't he be in this article?--KukiTalk 23:06, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

No because he never traveled with Ash. This is only for Ash's main friends. --ケンジガール 23:47, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
How about Jun, as it is confirmed that he is Traveling with Ash(Even though he's a rival)? ~~ ♫☆ShInYpIkA☆δ~~
Todd. If Jun's with Ash for more than ten episodes, we really ought to list him for sure. Less, though, and he's like Todd. TTEchidna 21:21, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanx and btw, IS wally a rival? I know I shouldn't ask this hear, but no one else will tell me. (Sketch says hes not.) §hin¥£iΨ@chµ 21:36, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Rivals

Could we make a section(Or page) for Ash and his Friend's rivals(and TTR)? §hin¥£iΨ@chµ 17:40, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

I've made a sprite of JJM, and I was wondering if it would be of any use in the article. heres the sprite <image removed> 'ŚĥîΠŶPî₭₳ĉĥŭ' 02:06, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Stuff With The Page

Alright, what's happened here, really? One minute, I'm looking at the recent changes to see what got changed and if I could help...... the next minute, the page's title was changed..... the other minute, it was changed back and then protected by MAGNEDETH. What's with all the commotion happening here? In my opinion, "Ash's Friends" was a pretty good title for a pretty good article. So?--DRAGONBEASTX 02:35, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

...isn't it kind of obvious what happened? The page was moved, but MAGNEDETH thought it was fine, moved it back, and protected it from being moved again. End of story. eA 02:40, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
pretty much. ill have someone more powerful than me make the final decision however -- MAGNEDETH 02:44, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
That'll solve all of this :) 'ŚĥîΠŶPî₭₳ĉĥŭ' 02:46, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Every COD that Ash befriends should be on this page based off of the title. What about Conway? What about Ritche? Theyre friends too But their not supproting rolesDCM((Mock MeEdits))

Seems like a couple of people thought "Ash's Friends" was too much of a vague title for this article. And, MAG, what do you mean, "someone more powerful"... like, maybe someone like TTE? Right now where TTE stands, I, myself don't know who would be "more powerful" than him, but of course I know about all the admins, but right now, he is, "Mr. Super In Charge Guy", we all know. *SIGH* Now, I guess we just wait.......--DRAGONBEASTX 03:01, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Why do we need the sprites?

Misty's is ok, Tracey's just plain hurts my eyes and Max's just has long hair. Why do we need any of the sprites. We can easily just slap in a real picture and it'll serve the same purpose. Aura-Knight 21:54, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

I definitely agree with this. The sprites are fanmade, official art or screenshots would work much better. — THE TROM — 22:54, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Should we do that?--DRAGONBEASTX 05:33, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Jun/Barry

Should we add Jun/Barry to this page? ŚĥîΠŶPî₭₳ĉĥŭ 15:59, 10 April 2009 (UTC) No, he's not a character that has traveled with Ash for at least a generation.--LatiasGemstone 21:15, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Request

Instead of having the words in the template in present tense like Catch or hatch can it be changed to past tense like caught or hatched? - unsigned comment from Turtwig A (talkcontribs)

That would be advisable. "Given" is already past tense. —darklordtrom 19:27, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Ok I changed it Turtwig A Contributions 19:44, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

dawn

Why is Dawn's Cyndaquil only "hatched" but not "cought". didn't dawn cought it after it hathed? - unsigned comment from Tomas (talkcontribs)

Um... no... --ケンジガール 19:17, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Doesn't it deserve to be placed under "Given" as well because it was given to her as an egg by Lyra. If not then we need to remove Misty's Marill from the Given Category as well. –MasterKenobi 21:33, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Protection?

We're getting near to the Best Wishes preview. Would it be a good idea to protect this page? --Midnight Blue 21:21, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Brock

Shouldn't the link read "DP191" instead of what it does now, since we have no confirmation on an English title? (Or do we?) Arrogios 03:26, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Move suggestion

So I'm suggesting that the page be move to Ash's traveling companions (or something to that extent) since the term Ash's friends is not really accurate (just look at posts above). The term Ash's friends would actually include Gary, Barry, his other rivals, as well as many of the CotD's they've met. As for links, most are linked via {{ashfr}} anyway, and we don't really have to move that. tc²₆tc26 09:02, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

I guess you have a point. --ケンジガール 09:38, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
I agree, but I think it should be changed to "Ash's Traveling Partners", since that makes it sound even narrow, since traveling companions would include characters such as Todd Snap who stayed with Ash and traveled with him for a couple episodes. --Timothy 21:57, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
I think its fine as is, every episode article mentions these guys as "his friends" and even the episode summaries on Cartoon Network say "Ash and friends". The name it has now really isn't a major problem to be focused on right now.--Landfish7 19:36, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
And as for the arguments Tc26 made, there is already a page for Rivals and CoDs anyway, so there shouldn't be any major confusion. Worst casenario, we can use this:
This article is about Ash's traveling companions, if you were looking for a general list of people Ash has met on his journey, see Character of the day.
--Landfish7 19:50, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Meowth

Seeing as Meowth is now part of the family, I think Meowth should be added into the page. I mean, it says friends, so Meowth should be added in (and so should Todd Snap and Bianca, for that matter).Don't Hug Lucario! 17:50, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

I think it would be better to group those under a Temporary section. Unless Meowth turns out to be long term. Besides Todd, Bianca, and possibly Ritchie during the Whirl Islands episodes, are there any others? XVuvuzela2010X 18:06, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
Cheryl, Barry and maybe Mr. Briney.--Den Zen 20:20, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Hidden Temporary section

Why is it hidden, and when can we show it on the page? --LimeGreenCharizard-- 06:31, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Well, since no one is answering me, I'm just going to reveal it to the world! --LimeGreenCharizard-- 01:58, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
It's hidden because it is not complete. No one added Ritchie or Luke. Bianca and Barry's tables are missing Pokémon. --ケンジガール 02:09, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Well, someone needs to do that. I would, but I'm not an expert on Best Wishes stuff. --LimeGreenCharizard-- 03:00, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

I finished the section, but I don't think Luke is appropriate because he hasn't "traveled" with the group, just like Ritchie didn't travel with Ash, they were just both in the Pokémon League. I could be wrong, I'm not up to date on the new season. --LimeGreenCharizard-- 08:02, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Episodes Present

Are we going by the episodes they were present throughout the anime, or the episodes they were Ash's traveling companions? --LimeGreenCharizard-- 05:51, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Temporary

Shouldn't Lyra and Khoury go here? and also Luke because he traveled with them to the don battle? Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 08:22, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Hmm...

This seems to be sticking to only those who traveled with Ash. Which yeah.. I guess that's what this mean. What bugs me is that we have people like Cheryl here, who mostly just asked for help from the group and not really building a real relationship, but someone like Angie who actually developed a bond with the characters can't be here just because she did not travel with them.

Not saying traveling companions should be kicked out. Just saying that I think we should judge by relationship as well instaed of just focusing on "this person walked places with them". Angie basically shared a living quarters with Ash and his friends during that summer school thing and was always with them during that time. --ケンジガール 22:15, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

I agree. This page is starting to turn into more of a "Ash's Traveling Companions" page instead of "Ash's Friends" --Pokemaster97 22:18, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
I think if we're going to add actual friends, then it should just be done on a separate page, and rename this one to "Ash's traveling companions". I mean, that's what it's referring to when "Ash and his friends" is said in episode summaries. Or maybe make one section for traveling companions, and another for real friends made, like the Characters of the Day. --LimeGreenCharizard-- 01:23, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
There's "Ash's main traveling companions" and "Ash's main group/set/whatever of friends" since he does travel with and befriend a lot of people. -tc²₆tc26- 03:32, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Pokémon

I think we should discard the template in Todd's section since he was never shown with any Pokémon or indicating that he would catch some or he had some. Unlike Max where he states that he would want to become a trainer, indicating he would catch Pokémon.--ForceFire 09:48, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

They are not simply Pokémon templates. It also gives out important info like their hometown, when they joined, how many episodes they accompanied the main characters, etc. Max, Todd, and Meowth don't even have Pokémon sections. --ケンジガール 09:57, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Picture

I'm not exactly against this picture per se, but I think we should still have a picture of Ash, Iris, and Cilan as the main image since they are the main traveling group. --HoennMaster 22:48, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Cilan

It is notable that Cilan is the only one of Ash's constant companions that does not have whites of their eyes? Even Brock had whites, if I recollect. プリングルズ/品客薯片/ప్రింగిల్స్ 04:02, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

No. It's not very relevant at all. Ataro 04:05, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Iris's travelling episode

Shouldn't it be BW006BW006 instead of BW002BW002, since she didn't officially travel with ash until cilan suggested it? she even said so herself in BW006BW006 that she wasn't travelling with ash, Or do we keep it like that since she technically started travelling with him in BW002BW002?
