Most episodes

I think that Rockruff is the Pokémon that has appeared in most episodes prior to being caught by Ash, surpassing Infernape (which was seen under Paul's ownership in six episodes excluding flashbacks) and Krookodile (which appeared in four episodes prior to his capture). Should this trivia be added? MH (talk) 17:10, 24 February 2017 (UTC)

While that might be true, the span of time it took to catch Krokorok was far longer and kind of makes this trivia kind of trivial IMO. --HoennMaster 04:20, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
You realize how ridiculous "makes this trivia kind of trivial" sounds, right? xD
I'd say this is notable. Nutter Butter (talk) 04:28, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

Canine

I'd like to point out that Rockruff is the first pokemon Ash catches, of all the pokemon he caught in previous regions, to be a canine.Robbie (talk) 17:32, 24 February 2017 (UTC)

So? That's extremely minor.--ForceFire 02:53, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

Moves used

Since there seems to be a few issues regarding what moves have and have not been used by this Rockruff, I would like to ask three questions: Does Rockruff know Tackle? Does Rockruff know Bite? Does Rockruff know Rock Throw? --Super goku (talk) 07:03, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

Yes, yes and yes, but we aren't allowed to put Tackle because "Tackle" hasn't been called out by name yet. Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 08:19, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
Rock Throw, yes. But not the other two. This shouldn't be that hard of a rule to follow: if it wasn't called out, don't assume the move - unless the move has a unique animation. Tackle could've been Body Slam, Slam, Take Down, Double-Edge, or whatever else move that involves ramming oneself into the opponent - and the anime has shown plenty of times that they won't follow the games in terms of what can actually learn what. Bite could've been Crunch, simple.--ForceFire 09:04, 4 March 2017 (UTC)

Lycanroc Card in the Ash vs Team Rocket Deck Kit

Does this mean that Ash might get a Lycanroc (Midday Form)? - unsigned comment from Hamfart (talkcontribs)

No, it doesn't mean that and I don't think this is the place to discuss this. You can discuss this on the forums. Playerking95 (talk) 13:52, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
To explain that a bit more clearly, Hamfart, all it means is that since Ash doesn't have any evolved Pokemon yet this season, the TCG folks added some evolved forms of the Pokemon in that deck for game balance. It's unlikely that the anime folks told the TCG folks which of Ash's Pokemon would and would not evolve, and even if they did, we have no way of knowing that. It's utter speculation. Evolution foreshadow?

It's revealed that Gladion will appear in SM027 with a Lycanroc Midnight Form. Among the pictures is one of Ash's Rockruff interacting with it and another that shows a Lycanroc Midday Form. Is this foreshadowing that Rockruff might evolve into Lycanroc Midday Form? --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 03:50, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

No. It's an image from SM015. Yes, it does confirm that Rockruff intends to Evolve, but which form it'll take is not stated. Ataro (talk) 06:56, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

Dig

In episode 26, Ash says for Rockruff to "Use Dig!" - unsigned comment from BulbasaurRepresent167 (talkcontribs)

Might be best to wait for confirmation in the dub first I feel--BigDocFan (talk) 06:47, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
Ash only said "ほるんだ", simply "dig", but not "あなをほる", Dig (move). It is always important to check the original Japanese word instead of just relying on the subtitles. --  Tsanger | 留言  07:09, 14 May 2017 (UTC)

Evolution

Since Rockruff is gonna evolve next episode, should the page be protected until then? --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 22:24, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

Add Info for Kukui's Lycanroc

Considering info for his Rockruff is here, why not add on info for the Lycanroc he uses? Pikatwig (talk) 04:09, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

Lycanroc's ability

Why it's ability listed as unknown? It's Dusk Form Lycanroc. It has only one ability - Tough Claws. - unsigned comment from Xivitai (talkcontribs)

The anime does not equal the games. We don't assume. Playerking95 (talk) 07:57, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
Because until they show Lycanroc using it, it remains as "Unknown". That goes for every Pokémon in the anime

“Under Kukui’s care”

So it just dawned on me that Lycanroc is back under Kukui’s care. Now obviously round 2 has literally nothing but it sleeping in the last scene, but I’m wondering if round 1 should have “as a Rockruff” added to its section title--KnightGalarie (talk) 20:45, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Kukui's Rockruff/Lycanroc

I think this page should split into Ash's Lycanroc and Kukui's Lycanroc with both pages mentioning each other in the 'In the anime' and 'In the games' section respectively.Anishdeb (talk) 16:12, 3 August 2020 (UTC)

Going to bump this because of the amount of information that's just unique to Kukui's and the amount that's unique to Ash's. Maybe the Kukui's Lycanroc page can describe the time it was with Kukui before Ash caught it, but otherwise there's just far too much images and info relating to Kukui's specifically that has nothing to do with it's anime incarnation. TrainerSplash (talk) 08:57, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
Agreed. Landfish7 09:11, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
Also agree, it seems weird to talk about Ash's and Kukui's Lycanroc on the same page just because Ash happened to catch a Rockruff that was living with Professor Kukui. Plus, it seems bizarre that "Kukui's Rockruff" currently redirects to this page when Kukui never owned Rockruff in the anime. So I think that page should redirect to Kukui's Lycanroc as well. Parallel to Ash's Infernape?

I feel like Ash's Lycanroc and Infernape could be something to parallels to each other in terms of their red-eye state, especially when Infernape was a Chimchar and Monferno, as they were both temporarily disobedient to Ash when they entered in a red-eye state (Lycanroc because of how its fur got dirty and Infernape because its Blaze ability was activated), which were eventually controlled. I feel like this should be mentioned on both Ash's Infernape and Lycanroc's pages.
