Question

Since Ash didn't catch it in SM007 and there's no evidence that he will catch it in any upcoming episode, should this page still be here? Playerking95 (talk) 18:05, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Um, since it's in user space I don't think it really matters. Besides, it's possible he might catch it in some other one.-- --Handmaiden 101 (tAlk) 18:19, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, but by that argument, I could create a page titled Ash's Grubbin or Ash's Pikipek, because Ash might possibly catch it in the future and don't you think that would be a bit presumptuous? Sure, it's a userspace, but it's implying something that might not happen or, as of now, is saying that Ash has caught it, which he has not. Playerking95 (talk) 18:23, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
Okay, but this particular Litten has been shown frequently around Ash, more so than Grubbin (not even sure if it's the same one) or Pikipek. It can still count as a possibility for a later date. If your still doubtful then you can just bring it up with an admin for their input.-- --Handmaiden 101 (tAlk) 18:41, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Moves prior to SM21

They are suspect because Ember does not look like Samson Oak's Vulpix's Ember(which is suspect in itself), and what is claimed to be scratch could have been Slash. I propose hiding these like we did rockruff's "Bite" until we have proof via spoken command.--BlisseyandtheAquaJets (talk) 18:26, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

Gender

Watching the Japanese version of SM024 with English subtitles, Litten is referred to as a male with terms as a good boy and he is, can this be taken as evidence of Litten being male?--BigDocFan (talk) 11:03, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

Those subs are not very good and are known for having a lot of errors, so I wouldn't use that as a source. Playerking95 (talk) 11:19, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
Just thought I would check, when the dub airs and the dialogue is used, would that be accepted?--BigDocFan (talk) 11:20, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
For the millionth time, if fansubs have such phrases, they're most likely mistranslations of gender-neutral terms from the actual Japanese speech. Only something in the raw Japanese version can confirm a gender. If the dub calls Liteen a he, we'll simply add a note about it; you should know that by now.--Den Zen 11:24, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

Scratching move

This is seriously getting out of hand. Scratch, Fury Swipes, Slash... Who'd honestly think that Litten would have three "variations" of similar move? I don't think the subtitles got this one right. I trust the original Japanese dialogue, where the move is clearly stated to be Scratch, which is what it even looks like. Just compare it to Meowth's Fury Swipes, for example. It's multiple slashes in a quick succession, while Litten's move is only one or two slashes, one per set of claws using the move. Can't we just talk about this and hopefully agree that the subtitles have gotten this one wrong, and the only slashing move Litten has really used is Scratch? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 08:51, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

The move it uses in SM007 and SM016 isn't stated in dialogue to be anything, even in Japanese. Only in SM024 do the Japanese and English dialogue, as well as the English captions, all agree that it's Scratch. (SM035 is also Scratch according to the Japanese dialogue.)
Also, the move in SM007 had it use both sets of claws for three slashes in quick succession, and a similar animation was used during the second scene for the episode's Persian. Its claws also don't glow white when it uses Scratch in SM024 and SM035. I can get behind the argument that the moves it used in SM007/016 are the same (especially since Litten can't even learn one of them), but SM024/035's animation is different. --Abcboy (talk) 10:54, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
I agree, three different scratching moves, of which two haven't appeared again since their debut, seems kinda ridiculous. I can acknowledge that Fury Swipes was used, since its animation differs from that of Scratch, but I think the closed captions that revealed Slash in SM016 were wrong (especially since Litten can't even learn the move, like Abcboy said). Satsjoe (talk) 12:16, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
Games=/=anime, just because it can't learn the move in the games, doesn't mean the animators will follow that. They have shown plenty of times that they down necessarily need to follow the games. Claw glowing whits and slashing is such a generic animation that it could literally be any of the slashing moves. Just because it was used repeatedly, doesn't mean they could be the same move. The animation is too generic to look at all examples and say "all of that is one move".--ForceFire 12:31, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
