Talk:Ash's Gliscor

If Ash caught a Johto Pokémon...

Since Ash caught a Gligar, it is likely it will evolve into Gliscor during the Sinnoh Journey. All Ash needs to do is find or receive a Razor Fang, train Gligar at night, then it'll evolve!

User:FREAKAZOID

Um, yeah. Since we already went through this with Aipom, that's a given. --FabuVinny T-C-S 17:20, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
"sigh" And there I was hoping for a Lucario. File:Ani448MS.gifJmathFile:Ani447MS.gifTalkFile:Ani448MS.gif 18:43, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Maylene, Cynthia and Riley all have a Lucario. It's nice that a more minor Pokémon like Gligar is getting attention. --FabuVinny T-C-S 18:45, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
I was hoping the same thing myself. Finding a Riolu in the wild, or receiving a Riolu egg from Riley (if Riley makes an anime appearance, that is). --User:FREAKAZOID
I'm still confident Ash will be the one to get a Riolu. He's going to have to send something to Prof. Oak sooner or later, probably this Gligar, to make room for the egg. --Shiningpikablu252 21:17, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
I guess that sort of depends. --User:FREAKAZOID
I too am confident that Riolu will come into Ash's hands. But Gligar is a nice touch too. Since there's at least two more years of Sinnoh, and he's already got six at his belt, he's going to shift them up a bit. Phil 16:21, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
If Ash will obtain a Riolu, my suggestion is that Ash should quickly evolve Gligar before Ash receives the Riolu egg/obtains a Riolu in the wild or before the Riolu egg hatches (if Ash receives an Egg, that is). --User:FREAKAZOID
Evin tho it's so Romdom. Lucario would have made more sence Cerberus 18:58, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Not really. Get Riolu egg, Hatch Riolu, make Riolu happy, Riolu evolves, thus get a Lucario that's already accustomed to it's trainer. - Cassius335 14:23, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
The writers are really doing well this time. D/P saga has already made like 5 or 6 twists already. File:Ani448MS.gifJmathFile:Ani447MS.gifTalkFile:Ani448MS.gif 19:15, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Maybe the Staraptor would be replaced by Gligor (flying pokemon)--133Darth196Cookie197Monster471 21:48, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

I doubt it. The only time Ash has ever not taken a Normal/Flying to a league was in a filler arc. Additionally, all of his signature Flying-types have been able to learn Fly, which neither Gligar nor Gliscor can learn. Obviously the Sinnoh League will be canon, so he's probably going to dump something, probably Gligar, at Prof. Oak's somewhere down the line...--Shiningpikablu252 21:56, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
There's no reason to assume that Ash will get rid of any of his current team before the league. --FabuVinny T-C-S 22:55, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

There is no way to prodict what will Gligar be, but I am thinking he is the new Corphish. Cerberus 23:48, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Just thinking. Have you ever seen Ash fly on a pokemon not in canon thats is his?--133Darth196Cookie197Monster471 00:34, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Very few times. But I do recall one: Flying on Charizard in Movie 3. --Theryguy512 00:39, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

And he flew on Charizard in in Born to Be A Winner. I know it's a theme song but...--KukiTalk 13:13, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, movies are not really Canon ( i think) because they don't really mention what happens in them accept in other movies. I wouldn't know anyway, I don't watch the anime unless it has piplup in it!--133Darth196Cookie197Monster471 00:42, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

They're totally canon! Anyway, must of his Flying types are to small. It's not like he's gonna ride on Noctowl or Gligar! Didn't he ride on Pidgeot once or twice??? --Theryguy512 00:45, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
He fly on his Pidgeot in the episode that he release it.-Billy4b2004 09:06, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Ash did ride Charizard in an episode, it was the one where they introduced the Charicific Valley, He had to fly on Charizard to get there, then he left it there Moldy orange 22:41, 24 January 2008

Oh well, I only watch D and P any way. What about Gligar taking over the roll of crobat, but for ash (you know search)--133Darth196Cookie197Monster471 00:49, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

He has Staraptor (Staravia) already!-Billy4b2004 13:49, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

In the series, do you remember ash saying something about latios, or entei, or the unown?--133Darth196Cookie197Monster471 00:58, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Actually, Ash do mentioned about Lugia very briefly, saying that he has met this species in the Orange Archipelago when he first met the baby Lugia.-Billy4b2004 07:21, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

This has noda too do with the aritcal. Cerberus 01:02, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

In relation to what FREAKAZOID said, I doubt it will evolve since Paul has Gliscor already. It might have a chance if Paul releases it. --File:Ani048MS.gifケンジFile:Ani183MS.gifガールFile:Ani123MS.gif 07:01, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

No, it would be Gliscor VS Gliscor in the Sinnoh League!-Billy4b2004 09:09, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Just because Ash captured a Pokémon doesn't mean it has to stay on his team forever. Imagine this....Ash meets a trainer with a powerful Gliscor. Ash challenges her to a battle with his Gligar. Instead of winning it gets beaten up badly. Ash then realizes Gligar could become much stronger if it stays with that trainer. So he gives Gligar to her saying he would return for it later, like Pidgeot and Primeape. File:Ani448MS.gifJmathFile:Ani447MS.gifTalkFile:Ani448MS.gif 13:16, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Oh well, there is just a selfish, accursed guy called Paul near Ash that has a powerful Torterra and a powerful Gliscor while Ash has a Turtwig and a Gligar......or you mean Gligirl?(:P)

Ash wouldn't release Turtwig, if he do so, it would be meaningless for it to learn Energy Ball. And for Gligar, I think it would evolve into Gliscor and Oak would soon ask Ash to Oak it for the prof. to observe it.He would later call for its power in the Sinnoh League like Heracross. And he would catch a Dusclops or Piloswine or Rhydon(still haven't lost hope for Rhyperior yet and I prefer Ash to have a fully-evolve that is belongs to the Two-Evolution Families:P) etc. later and evolve it.-Billy4b2004 13:30, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

The electric Gym battles of Ash didn't focus much on the electricity. But I think Volkner's electricity would be really strong as it is the last Gym and because of the Anime Psychic, Gliscor would probably be hurt by it easily and Rhyperior or Mamoswine is strong and at least they does not have weakness against electricity.-Billy4b2004 13:38, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

When people talk about Ash getting a Riolu/Lucario, why? Lucario has already featured in a movie, plus it' sowned by 3 other people in the games. Why would they want to add ANOTHER Lucario to the anime? GlinnFile:Ani202MS.gif 13:50, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Oh yeah, Dusknoir can also be the battle Pokémon for Dawn to use in the second round!I suddenly realized that Lucario isn't needed in the anime, only Riley is needed!-Billy4b2004 13:56, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

NO hare is what will happon a strey magic spill will turn Gliger into a human and she will fall inlove with Dawn. Cerberus 14:44, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

......No way, it would turn back soon in the next episode just like Ashachu unless that is a really strong witch/wizard but I don't think it can change its feeling towards Dawn after turning into a human......-Billy4b2004 14:47, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

uhh why hasnt anyone even mentioned the hints to a GSDS? 45px 45pxKPF30px 30px 18:04, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Probably because such hints will probably be on Dawn's end, similar to how May's Bulbasaur came close to the time of FireRed/LeafGreen. It would be interesting if Dawn were to get a Chikorita, a male one at that...--Shiningpikablu252 22:44, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Back to Gliger

We should atleat stick to Gliger. Did it use an attack?Cerberus 18:57, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Will it follow the way of Squirtle after evolving then?-Billy4b2004 06:43, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I think it is quite confusing for us.The writer is trying to make it unpredictable but it just made the capture of Gligar almost exactly the same as the one of Squirtle. How come?-Billy4b2004 06:51, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Who knows. We'll have to see. After all, just because Chimchar was caught the same as Charmander doesn't mean it'll become a disobedient Monferno and Infernape, and just because Turtwig was caught the same as Bulbasaur doesn't mean it'll go to an evolution ceremony presided over by a Torterra, where it is the only one of the group of Turtwig not to evolve. TTEchidnaFire echyGSDS! 06:55, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Oh, thanks for reminding me, I almost forget about how Ash got Turtwig and Chimchar are similar to the way how he got Charmander and Bulbasaur.Chimchar and Turtwig's types are corresponding to that of Charmander and Bulbasaur and they are both starters while Gligar's type isn't corresponding to that of Squirtle and it is not a starter like Squirtle, we can still say it is unpredictable in this way.Well, I think Chimchar would be fully evolved like Charmander but it woundn't disobey Ash as he treats it really well and I think Turtwig will go to an evolution ceremony presided over by a Torterra but it wouldn't refuse to evolve because it wanted to help Ash beat the abusive rival's Torterra. It would be very different from the past due to the difference between Paul and Gary.-Billy4b2004 07:06, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

I think Gligar would evolve, unlike Squirtle and it would be in Oak's Lab. instead of get back into the pack or it would be given to Gligirl as her Gligar/Gliscor is too old!-Billy4b2004 07:11, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Johto characters like Gligirl showing up would be much appreciated too - set's up for GSDS. Still, I think Gligar here's to stay. Based on the unpredictability quotient, I don't think things will follow as much of a pattern as they used to. The writers are getting better. Phil 16:28, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Gliger might evlove it might not. For all we know Misty will somehow wind up with it. Cerberus 20:10, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Location

Wasn't Gligar caught at Route 214? Ash met Maylene at Route 215, in that forest not in Veilstone Gym. File:Ani448MS.gifJmathFile:Ani447MS.gifTalkFile:Ani448MS.gif 06:23, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Route 214 is south of Veilstone. He'd have to actually get to Veilstone beforehand. Route 215 links Route 210 and Veilstone. TTEchidnaFire echyGSDS! 06:46, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, was kinda refferring to that bit. - Cassius335 10:32, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
No, Larvitar and Haunter weren't caught, but everyone counts them anyway. You could even make a case for Butterfree's release having been so Ash could get a Ghost-type to face Sabrina and so people wouldn't complain about him having seven Pokémon on him at once. Larvitar's the issue. TTEchidnaFire echyGSDS! 23:41, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Ofcourse if Ash had never gone and dumped Butterfree there would never even have been this trouble as Butterfree could have just kicked sabrina's evl little *** with Butterfree's Bug moves --Wikid

Butterfree wouldn't have helped. Butterfree couldn't learn any Bug-type moves until Generation III. --Shiningpikablu252 23:16, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

No attacks?

Do we know for shure that Gligar can't attack? Cerberus 23:17, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Probably means that either A, he hasn't used it in battle yet, or B, Gligar's attacks have not been revealed. Tina δ 23:26, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, didn't someboy say the Pokanei (or whatever that site we get all our info from) said that it used Quick Attack??? --Theryguy512 23:35, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Gligar was chought at the end of the eposde and I dout it battled in the next one so we have no real proth that it knows no attacks. Cerberus 23:44, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Of course Gligar knows some attacks. That trivia item is stupid. --FabuVinny T-C-S 11:09, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
It might need rewording, but the fact is it's been two episodes without Gligar showing off a single attack. If it actually has Quick Attack, then let's add it once we see Gligar use it. - Cassius335 12:04, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
The wording might have been the main problem. Mention the delay in seeing an attack would be fine. --FabuVinny T-C-S 13:06, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Evolution

Yes I know I keep doing this but this time I have good evidence. In the trailer for the 11th movie near the end you can see everyone and their team. Well you see a gliscor but you dont see gligar so i think the page should be protected or something.

Well, the movie is going to be in theaters in July, which is like 5 months way. I'd bet that Gligar is going to evolve. When you think about it that's 20 episodes to air (maybe more, maybe less). -Dean

No point worrying about this until the episode Gligar evolves in has aired... and as Dean points out, that could be months away. Hell, we'll be lucky to get back to Hearthome in that time. - Cassius335 00:38, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

ok well isnt it confirmed? in the preview you see ash has a razor fang and gligar wants it. near the end of it gligar touches it and it glows white and its shape is obviously that of gliscors so i think you can unprotect the page - unsigned comment from Happizelpom (talkcontribs)

That may be BUT the Episode HAS NOT aired yet so it won't be unprotected and beside the page is protected until the episode airs --CoolPikachu! 23:23, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

They'll probably leave its Japanese voice actor. It sounds like it's saying "Gligar" already. --ケンジガール 01:04, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Drew's Roselia is dubbed so is his Flygon and in the 4Kids dub they dubbed Gligar plus there is no way Katsuyuki Konishi can do a voice that is not too rough Plus Roselia has the same name in Japanese and Flygon sounds similar to Frygon Livinlarge18 21:47, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Are you forgetting that they left Ash's Buizel, Ash's Donphan, Dawn's Pachirisu, Dawn's Aipom, Paul's Elekid and Electabuzz, and Zoey's Glameow alone? They didn't replace that many so chances are, Gligar will keep it's original voice. --ケンジガール 23:51, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
I was really hoping Bill Rogers would voice Gligar I mean I don'r like the Japanese voice I think Bill Rogers should voice it since well um because his Pokémon voices sound cute Livinlarge18 14:02, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Vs. Charizard

I haven't seen the episode Gligar evolved into Gliscor, but reading the description about the event (the Pokémon diving to save Ash from a fall) reminded me of how Charizard evolved from Charmeleon in the episode with the Ancient Pokémon. Should that be mentioned in the trivia section? Kochdude388 15:01, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

No. Despite the description, the two events are quite different (for one thing, the real reason Charizrd evolved was to battle Aerodactyl). - Cassius335 15:04, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Metal Claw?

Hmm, the stinger is kind of small to me...yes, a male gligar has a bigger stinger than its tail, but so do female gligar. Sometimes it depends on the person who storyboards it. Want a better pic?

I'll TRY to find one...but I can't guarentee (don't know if that's the correct spelling...) it. Shiny Pachirisu 16:42, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
I don't think one of those pics even exist...I can't find anything good...X_x Shiny Pachirisu 16:52, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
The Problem with the very first picture provided (the one Kenji-girl provided) and why I think it's small is because it's not just the stinger that indicates gender differences. Looking at Gligar's gender differences it's also the size of the ball(?) that also indicates gender difference. --Dman dustin 15:21, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

well I believe that a Gligars stinger in the anime is changing size with every shot sort of an animation error so this would make it impossible to tell what it is. User:ShinyMedicham

Gliscor has been hinted as female throughout its appearances, yet we won't know unless it is referred to as a she. User:Pokeman21

The trivia

It's getting rediculous. There's way too much in the trivia and not enough in the bio. Some of it is stupid trivia. Gliscor is the only fully evolved Pokémon on Ash's team. Duh! Something should be done about it. --ケンジガール 20:26, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

That's Sandstorm--KukiTalk 18:21, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

I disagree, because not only was the attack not called out, it's more likely it was sand attack and it was Staravia's "whirlwind" attack that gave it the appearance of such. And since when have we seen Gliscor use sand attack? Never, so this could be Gliscor's way of using sand attack. And yes attacks have been portrayed differently (Hell May's Skitty changed double slap from its paws to its tail. Because Gliscor is more powerful than Glgar, it is reasonable to assume that sand attack would look more powerful then Gligar's. Besides, I would think it it's not confirmed, it's not added. Just because it looks like Sandstorm isn't enough to add it. I think it has to be called out in order for it be added. --Dman dustin 00:52, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Well, I don't know if it is accurate to say that Ash released Gliscor, it just was left for training, much like Charizard. Even Squirtle looks like being released more than gliscor, but we all know squirtle is still Ash's. So I think Gliscor is still Ash's, as there is no proof that Ash can't use it in a future episode, and the statements of it being released should be edited. Luord 07:16, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Luord

In that case there are still some writing mistakes in the whole page, as in the text says relased, but in the template it isn't with the other released pokemon, it is in the "training" section; and finally the most accurate thing to say (and this apply to ambipom too, if you don't want to consider them as in training) is that it was given away, because it was given to another trainer, not left in the wild (like Lapras or Paul's stantler, for example). Putting things without an standard isn't very enclopedic, so every instance should say released or every instance should say in traning (but not released some times and in training other times). Luord 17:34, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Luord
First, don't re-edit a single comment: Add a new (separate comment) every time. Second, that's what we generally consider it a release. Third, bulbapedia never ever put any thing nonstandard because we usually research first, then add the info. I just shared what ever I thought (nothing offensive to anybody) and it's so nice that you took an interest in improving bulbapedia. If you want a confirmed or proper decision then I'll suggest you to contact Kenji-girl because she is the Project anime leader. Thank you. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 18:43, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Definition of standard "a basis for comparison; a reference point against which other things can be evaluated; "they set the measure for all subsequent work"", don't confuse standard with truth, while everything in the article is true from a point of view, is not standard to put something that somewhat contradicts itself, because "left in training" is not the same as "released" or at least not logically the same (the closest thing to left for training in the games is the daycare, so it isn't, and in the anime it also isn't the same, a released pokemon is a pokemon that went back to the wild). It isn't like the end of the world, but this is supposed to be an encyclopedia, and if you write what "you consider" then this whole page shouldn't be called encyclopedia, just a fan database. see you Luord 01:31, 21 April 2010 (UTC)Luord
Excuse me, I was talking about my last message on this talk page (that's what I considered) not about the article. The article is purely based on true and correct information. As you said that Gliscor will return then let's wait for it to come back. If Gliscor returns to ash in future then we will remove that released thingy just like on Charizard article but if Gliscor didn't come back then it will be considered as released just like Butterfree. So, till Gliscor's return, it's released. Clear! Thank you. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 01:50, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
How about that, I was right the whole time, I suppose I shouldn't waste my time with lesser people who doesn't even care to read what I write (or maybe don't know how to read) :). And now let me guess, somebody erased "released" from the infobox but, as you like so much to defend your point of view even knowing you are wrong, you are gonna put it back. I wouldn't be surprised Luord 11:24, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
First, this is not a forum. Second, I justified my reason and explained everything which you can clearly see. We can't remove that released box unless it returns at least once, as Gliscor did. Released is gone now, happy. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 11:49, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

return!

ashvspaul.jpg

According to someone who has seen Pokemon Fan magazine, which is officially released tomorrow, Ash uses the same team as his last battle with Paul (including Gliscor), and Paul uses a drastically different team"

Ash: Pikachu, Staraptor, Torterra, Infernape, Buizel, Gliscor

Paul: Electivire, Ninjask, Froslass, Drapion, East Gastrodon, and Aggron

ahem...with the possible return of gliscor (that pic looks soooooo much like him) the page should be protected... I think (Ataro 01:34, 17 July 2010 (UTC))

Ninjask?! As in, the Ninjask he captured just before catching Chimchar? So he DID keep it, I always had wondered... - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 01:58, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

I facepalm at the person who added that info...and who knows....(Ataro 02:00, 17 July 2010 (UTC))

Image in movebox

That image has been deleted. Can an admin please replace it with a:File:AshGliscorXScissor.jpg. --SnorlaxMonster 06:02, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Umm. . . no, it hasn't been deleted? a:File:Ash Gliscor.png Also, we'd use one of the several pngs that are available if it was deleted. Werdnae (talk) 06:20, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Movebox was on a switch. The offending image has been point blank removed from rotation. —darklordtrom 11:22, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Training

Is Gliscor done training? I haven't seen any of the new episodes, and was wondering if there was any mention about Gliscor being done or if he's just back for the suzuran conference and will go back after like Charizard and Squirtle keep doing.--Burgundy 06:25, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

We won't know until the battle with Paul is over. --HoennMaster 12:49, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Smaller than normal Gliscor?

Would it be worth noting Gliscor being smaller than normal especially when compared to another Pokémon? (Paul's Drapion is a perfect example) I mean, Drapion at average is 4 feet 3 inches and Gliscor is normally 6 feet and 7 inches. So Gliscor should have been taller than Drapion. And yet when Gliscor battles Drapion, the Drapion appears alot larger than Gliscor. And in some scenes with Ash, Gliscor seems to appear different size sometimes. Sometimes it looked smaller than Ash and other times it towered above him, like when Gliscor caught Ash after it evolved from Gligar and when it returned and hugged Ash before match with Paul. --Brats817 23:36, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

nah, I always say this Why should a Species of Pokemon ALWAYS be the same size as listed in the Pokedex. it's just not natural really. besides we've seen other size Pokemon of different species. also Gliscor is NOT 6 feet, it's the tail Ataro 23:44, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Well yeah they don't have to be the same exact size the Pokédex says actually but some Pokémon are at least around that height. The Pokédex height is just the average some Pokémon of that species are. As for Gliscor being 6 feet because standing on tail, I think it's off for the Pokédex to say. If Gliscor truly IS 6 feet, then it should've been as the height when standing on the feet. Makes more sense for Gliscor to be listed around 4 or 5 feet tall when standing on the feet. Still I found it kinda weird that Drapion seemed massive compared to Gliscor when they should've been about the same size at full height, unless it was just a bigger than normal Drapion or smaller than normal Gliscor. But yeah I see your point. The anime doesn't really follow the games too much. --Brats817 09:30, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

Trivia

Gliscor has used the most amount of different types of moves, along with Charizard, at 6.--Burgundy 04:04, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

True. I think it would be worth mentioning. --Brats817 20:52, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
