Grammar on the page

It wasn't correct before. "It is not licensed nor is endorsed by Nintendo." When using the word "nor" without the word "neither" before it, you always use a comma, as it denotes a pause in your sentence. Plus, the "is" is superfluous. It should be either "nor endorsed" or "nor is it endorsed" to be proper.

So...

Shouldn't this be just merged with GameShark? They're the same thing, just a different brand. TTEchidna 21:23, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't think so. They do have some different functions. Anyone else care to state their opinion? --ニョロトノ666 21:25, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
I say no. If the merge were to happen, though, I'd say it should be the other way around: GameShark should be merged with this, since AR is used now for most of the same things the GameShark once was, and thus has more relevance to the Pokémon community. --Martonimos((Talk)) 01:24, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
tough call, but i agree that if it were to be merged, it would merge with this. not this to that. all pre-2001-2 GameSharks are actually Action Replays, after that time frame, they used the AR name. -- MAGNEDETH 01:27, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

If we do merge them, we should just rename the article "Cheating Devices", and create a table comparing the functions of the two. --Manga-in-a-bottle 06:51, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Why do you always say IF?! Is it merging, or not?--The Bulb's Master 21:10, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Use and Function

I added the Use & Function section because I felt that there wasn't anything in the article that adequately described what the Action Replay actually does. This was my first edit, so feel free to rip it apart! --Amp 23:00, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Pokesav section

I personally am working on a program similar to pokesav for personal use, and I can say with great confidence that pokesav does indeed leave very visible signs on your game that you have used it. There are various places (trash bytes) in your save data that will be overwritten with various markers, including the text "COM" (the person who coded pokesav). In addition, a pokemon created by pokesav or even edited with it will have various markers left on it, such as invalid trash bytes. perhaps the most obvious mark however is the fact that a perfect 31 IV spread is impossible for the majority of natures, given the PV to IV generation algorithm.

Well aside from that, I'd say that pokesav is not relevant to AR, but rather it is the other way around. See, pokesav is simply a tool, and it happens to use AR as its *secondary* method of editing. Most people will actually use devices such as an R4DS to transfer their save file, then edit it directly. Thus AR is more relevant to pokesav than vice-versa. In short, I'm suggesting that pokesav not have such a large section in this article, especially since it is nothing new, what with tools like Kiro's Pokémon Maker having been out for Gen III for a good long time as well.

Just thought I'd throw in my two cents worth here, so... Later! NonaSuomi 19:27, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Banned from WiFi

I had heard a rumour myself (I can't find an appropriate section to put this in....How do you start a new section?) Anyway, apparently Nintendo is planning to ban all players from Wi-Fi who have Action Replay Pokemon like, for example, the little git who has 6 shiny Deoxys at level 100... (unsigned comment moved)

This is partially true, as the WiFi service won't let you go online if your pokemon are overly hacked. I'm not entirely certain, but I believe it has something to do with the Hidden Values in the pokémon's data. It also has certain filters based on impossible combinations. For example, because it is impossible to get a legitimate shiny Manaphy from the Ranger egg, if you hack one to be shiny, and then try to use it on GTS, you will be kicked from the GTS. Pokemon that are known to be hacked by Nintendo's system will also prevent you from entering any activities (including voice chat) in the WiFi center in any pokémon center. What if you trade Pokemon from someone with action replay? Will you still be banned from Wi-Fi? Because I traded an Arceus from a game I used Action Replay with. So I was just wondering... Blade Bro. 19:40, July 7 2009 (UTC)

Truth or Rumor?--The Bulb's Master 21:07, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Key words: I heard a RUMOR. Wait untill there's actually official word before believing it. R.A. Hunter Blade 21:11, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
heres the deal, to my knowledge, you can still use hacked Pokemon on wifi. however, in Platinum, the Battle Recorder will refuse to record any battles with someone using severely hacked Pokemon. ive not yet had the chance to test all the wifi functions regarding hacked Pokemon, but i plan to. as of now, just stick with legit kids. Nintendo cant technically tell if youve used an AR or not. -- MAGNEDETH 21:20, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

glitch caused by action replay use

so i used the action replay with my diamond to walk through walls, but the action replay broke, so i bought a new one with the same cheat. but the cheat caused a ! to appear above my head whenever i stopped walking through things. one time after this happened, i ran into a wild Pokémon, or rather, two. the cheat had caused some sort of glitch to occur where i have the character Mira following me everywhere, but you can't see her unless you are in battle with wild Pokémon or in a double battle. the issue is, i can't get rid of her. i've tried everything i could think of but resetting the game, which i'm waiting to do until after i have transfered all my Pokémon to my black/white game. any possible solutions or is this unheard of until now? AR Codes

Can we make a list of AR codes and put it the appendix namespace? It's not bad considering Template:User Satanist and List of censored words in Pokémon Black and White Versions. The above comment is supported by Wildgoose. 18:18, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
