In Template:PSV, Gold encounters a herd of Sunkern escaping from a Skarmory. He captures one of the Sunkern to help defeat the Skarmory. Later, in Template:PSV, she evolves into Sunflora.

Origin

As its names indicate, it is based on a sunflower seed.

Name origin

Sunkern's name is a combination of sunflower and kernel. Its Japanese name may be a combination of 向日葵 himawari, sunflower, and the English word, "nuts".
