TCG Series

With the start of every TCG Series, promotional merchandise for the Pokémon Trading Card Game is released. Beginning in November 2016, the release of Pokémon Sun and Moon, the start of Generation VII, and the start of the Sun & Moon TCG Series allowed for a large number of promotional material and items to be made available to fans to purchase, collect, earn, and trade. The following is a chronological list of all TCG related merchandise made available during this Series of the card game.

Contents

Alola Collection

The first product of the Sun & Moon TCG Series is the Alola Collection. Released exclusively early to Target stores November 13, 2016, it was made available elsewhere in North America on November 18, 2016, and November 23, 2016 in Europe, the same day as the Pokémon Sun & Moon video games in each region. The Alola Collection comes in 2 varieties, each featuring one of the two game mascot Legendary Pokémon, Solgaleo and Lunala. Also featured are the three Alola starter Pokémon Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio.

The two regional pairs of promotional boxes differ in contents. All four iterations of this product contain a Jumbo card of either one of the two Pokémon-GX representing Solgaleo-GX and Lunala-GX, as well as one additional SM Black Star Promotional card for each of the three starter Pokémon and a code card for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online. The North American versions however, include both a collector's pin and sculpted figure of either Solgaleo or Lunala, as well as 5 booster packs. The three promotional cards differ between the Solgaleo and Lunala Alola Collections, with the Solgaleo Alola Collection containing Water-Web Holofoils of Sun & Moon Rowlet and Popplio and Black Star Promo Litten while the Lunala Alola Collection contains Water-Web Holofoil Litten and Black Star Promos Rowlet and Popplio. The European versions, on the other hand, contain no figure and only 3 booster packs, and replace the Legendary pin with a single pin of the three starters for both versions.

Starting August 22, 2017, specially-marked General Mills cereals contained Sun & Moon mini packs (a variant of booster packs that contain three cards as opposed to 10 and an advertisement/card list insert). Two of the cards contained in the packs were from the Sun & Moon expansion, while the third was one of four SM Black Star Promos. A second promotion began in mid February 2018, where packs were included in boxes of Fruit Roll-Ups and Pokémon Fruit Flavored Snacks. These packs contained two cards from a Sun & Moon Series expansion and one SM Promo, again utilizing the unique Holo pattern. The in-set cards were: Alolan Diglett, Alolan Sandshrew, Alolan Vulpix, Alolan Geodude, Charmander, Magikarp, Riolu, and Jigglypuff.

Shining Legends Premium Powers Collection

Like products in the XY Series featuring figures, the Shining Legends Super-Premium Collection was replaced by a similar product outside North America: the Shining Legends Premium Powers Collection. As the online Pokémon Center only ships to the United States, it did not carry this product. Thus, it did not get the early release of the Super-Premium Collection and was available starting October 20, 2017. It contains the same four promotional cards but, instead of a Ho-Oh figure, includes a Jumbo version of Ho-Oh-GX. A poster utilizing the same artwork as the Super-Premium Collection's playmat is also included, as well as 8 Shining Legends boosters and a code card for the TCGO.
