Static (Japanese: せいでんき Static Electricity) is an ability that paralyzes on contact. This means that if the opponent uses a Physical attack on a Pokémon with Static, there is a 30% chance that the opponent will become Paralyzed. Twelve Pokémon have this ability, all of them electric type. In Pokémon Emerald, Pokémon Diamond, and Pokémon Pearl, having a Pokémon with this ability at the front of your party also increases the chances of finding electric-type Pokémon in the area. Static was introduced in Generation III.
