Modelled on the Moss Rock and Ice Rock pages. I used the closest thing to a canon name I could find, as noted in the trivia.)

A special magnetic field enables Magneton and Nosepass to evolve into Magnezone and Probopass, respectively.

In the games

In Sinnoh, Mt. Coronet emits a special magnetic field. Magneton and Nosepass may evolve anywhere in Mt. Coronet, including exterior areas, the Spear Pillar, and the Hall of Origin.

In Unova, Chargestone Cave also emits a special magnetic field. This magnetism is also evident by the cave's puzzle: the player must push stone fragments blocking some passages so they are attracted by larger magnetic rocks, making it possible to continue.

The Kalos Power Plant produces a special magnetic field which allows Magneton and Nosepass to evolve in nearby Route 13.

As there is no special magnetic field in Kanto or Johto, Magneton and Nosepass cannot evolve in HeartGold and SoulSilver.

In side games

Due to the absence of any special magnetic field in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness, Magneton and Nosepass evolve through the use of the Coronet Rock, and the same method in Gates to Infinity.

Trivia

  • Unlike the Moss Rock and Ice Rock, there is no official name for this evolution method in the games. The closest thing to an official name for it is the reference to "a special magnetic field" in several of Magnezone's Pokédex entries.
