The Sparkling Stone (Japanese: かがやくいし Sparkling Stone) is a Key Item introduced in Generation VII and the raw material needed to create a Z-RingSM or Z-Power RingUSUM. They are given to the island kahuna by the tapu to turn into a Z-RingSM or Z-Power RingUSUM and then gifted to worthy Pokémon Trainers. Rarely, some Trainers may be given one directly by the tapu instead, as is the case with the player.

In Treasure Hunt, Akala Style!, Lana found a Sparkling Stone, termed in the episode as a Z-Ring ore (Japanese: リングのゲンセキ Z-Ring Ore), during a Stoutland Search treasure hunt set up by Olivia for Ash and his classmates. Olivia took the stone and turned it into a Z-Ring, which she gave to Lana in the next episode.
