The Snag Machine (Japanese: スナッチマシン Snatch Machine) is a machine designed by Cipher for Snagging, or stealing, a trainers' Pokémon. It is used by the main characters in Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness for snagging Shadow Pokémon for purification. The Snag Machine was originaly developed by Cipher and then given to Team Snagem in exchange for them snagging high grade Pokémon to be turned into Shadow Pokémon.

The first incarnation of the machine looks like a yellow vending machine with arms protruding from its sides. It stores its own Poké Balls and converts them into Snag Balls inside itself. We can assume that it acts autonomously since it shows no signs of a control box or control panel. At the beginning of Pokémon Colosseum, it is destroyed by Wes along with the Snagem Hideout. By the end of the game Team Snagem attempts to bring it back into use, only to be seized by Wes yet again.

The second version is much smaller, being able to be carried by a single person. It consists of a shoulder pad with a spiraling wire that is attached to a concave cuff link that is about the size and shape of a rugby or gridiron ball. The shoulder pad is worn over the left shoulder, the wire coiled around the wearer's arm, and the cuff link is then worn over the person's hand. This version does not store or carry its own Poké Balls. For a regular Poké Ball to be transformed into a Snag Ball, the wearer must hold an empty Poké Ball in their left hand while wearing the Snag Machine. When the Ball is thrown, the Snag Machine turns it into a Snag Ball. At the beginning of Pokémon Colosseum, Wes steals this machine when he destroys the Snagem Hideout.

In Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, Michael receives a modified version of this Snag Machine developed by the scientists at Pokémon HQ Lab. This modification is equipped with an Aura Reader to identify Shadow Pokémon and an alarm system which sounds when the wearer attempts to use it improperly.

During a Pokémon battle, a Snag Machine can only be used once per turn because it needs time to recharge.
