Smelling Salts (Japanese: きつけ Resuscitation), named SmellingSalt prior to Pokémon X and Y, is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation III. It is the signature move of Makuhita and Hariyama.
Effect
Generations III to V
SmellingSalt deals damage. Its base power of 60 will double against a paralyzed target, but it will also cure the target of paralysis.
Generation VI
The base power of Smelling Salts is increased to 70.
Smelling Salts can also be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, giving the user an extra three appeal points if a certain move (Force Palm, Glare, Nuzzle, Stun Spore, Thunder Wave or Zap Cannon) was used in the prior turn.

Trivia
- Despite real-life smelling salts restoring consciousness, Smelling Salts cures paralysis. Another move, Wake-Up Slap, does this instead.
