Smeargle can learn any set of moves due to {{m|Sketch}}, which permanently copies any move. Smeargle can only learn one instance of Sketch at a time. Sketch can be used to copy {{m|Selfdestruct}} and {{m|Explosion}} when used in a battle with a Pokémon with the {{a|Damp}} Ability. It can also be used to copy {{m|Metronome}} and {{m|Transform}}, if the move fails to activate due to effects such as sleep. Sketch cannot be used to learn {{m|Chatter}} or {{m|Struggle}}.
