Behavior

Skitty are fascinated by and will chase anything that moves (a personality trait that is found in "real-world" kittens). Skitty will even chase its own tail.

Trivia

  • It is part of the Ground Egg Group, which has caused the HSOWA joke.
  • The cream-colored section of Skitty's face is shaped like a crescent moon, which may be related to the fact that Skitty evolves using Moon Stones. Despite this fact, it cannot learn Moonlight, Although Skitty and the actual Moon may have nothing in common.
  • In the game Pokémon Ranch, Skitty will chase its own tail, as it is described doing in it's Pokédex entry.
  • The first ever art of Skitty showed a similar color to it's shiny color.

Origin

Skitty is based on a kitten with its tail resembling foxtail grass.

Name origin

Skitty's name is a combination of skittish and kitty. Its Japanese name refers to 狗尾草 enokorogusa, foxtail grass, a type of plant that Skitty's tail resembles, and 猫 neko, cat.
