Ivy and Brock

TraumaShipping is the belief that Brock and Professor Ivy belong in a romantic relationship. The term comes from the fact that the mention of the Professor's name, he goes into a manic, depressive fright. It was originally considered one-sided canon on Brock's side, but under the conditions of Brock's return at the end of the Orange Archipelago story arc, it is no longer.

Evidence

During the Orange League episodes of the anime, Brock makes rare cameos, still revealed to be working in Ivy's lab.

Brock meets Professor Ivy and asks if he could be her assistant. She agrees and he is nothing short of overjoyed.

Canon debunking

Brock is revealed to be working in Pallet Town at Delia's house, fighting Mimey for the chores, to the surprise of his friends. In true comedic effect, when they ask about why he's not with Professor Ivy, Brock dejectedly turns away from them, the scene literally blue, and he tells them, "Don't say that name." This happens a couple times throughout the episode.

The mythos

For a while, a number of show-watchers tried to theorize exactly what forced Brock to return. In retrospect, it was because Brock proved to be a more popular character than Tracey and he was brought back to replace him, but in-story was a different matter.

A number of theories cropped up, from the mundane to the outlandish. One theory went she simply rejected him, and after the long period of being around her, it had its effect. Another goes Ivy sexually assaulted him, scaring Brock away from her. One of the more extreme theories was that in reality, Professor Ivy was a hermaphrodite, also scaring him away from her when he found out.

With all the names that were coined for this Ship, the proof that TraumaShipping is the "cleanest" one only goes to show what sort of ideas people had surrounding their relationship.
