Trivia

Origin

Shiftry are probably based on Tengu, who are known for their long noses, cruel tricks, and ability to read minds.

Name origin

Shiftry's name is probably a combination of the words shifty (meaning deceitful), and tree. The teng in Dirteng probably refers to 天狗 Tengu, tricky Japanese goblins. Shiftry's German and French names also have Tengu incorporated in them.
