Flavor text Generation VII Reduces the amount of damage the Pokémon takes while its HP is full. Generation VIII Reduces the amount of damage the Pokémon takes while its HP is full. Generation IX Reduces the amount of damage the Pokémon takes while its HP is full.

Shadow Shield (Japanese: ファントムガード Phantom Guard) is an Ability introduced in Generation VII. It is the signature Ability of Lunala.

Effect

In battle

Shadow Shield reduces damage taken from damage-dealing moves by half when at maximum HP. It does not reduce the amount of HP taken from moves that deal direct damage.

Unlike Multiscale, this Ability cannot be ignored by moves or Abilities.

Outside of battle

Shadow Shield has no effect outside of battle.
