Shadow Hold (Japanese: ダークホールド Dark Hold) is one of several Shadow moves available only in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. Like other Shadow moves, it is forgotten and replaced with another move once the Pokémon is purified. Shadow Hold is a Shadow version of Spider Web, Mean Look, and Block.

Effect

0151Mew.png This move effect may be in need of research.
Reason: If the user switches out with Baton Pass, will the affected Pokémon still be trapped?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

Shadow Hold targets both opponents and prevents the targets from switching out. The effect only applies as long as the Pokémon that used it remains in battle. Pokémon affected by Shadow Hold can still be forced to switch out with Roar and Whirlwind. The affected Pokémon can still switch out via Baton Pass, but in that case, the Pokémon that switches in will now be affected.

As Shadow Pokémon cannot be traded, and since Pokémon Contests do not exist in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, Shadow Hold cannot be used in Contests.

Description
