Screech (Japanese: いやなおと Unpleasant Tone) is a mostly accurate non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Screech decreases the opponent's Defense by two levels.

Screech will do nothing if the opponent's Defense has reached a level of -6 or a value of 1, and will fail if the opponent has a Substitute or is under the effect of Mist. The effect of Screech is ignored by critical hits.
