Scizor (Japanese: ハッサム Hassam) is a dual-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II.

It evolves from Scyther when traded holding a Type-enhancing item.
It evolves from Scyther when Trade while holding a Metal Coat. It is one of Scyther's final forms. In the Hisui region, Kleavor is Scyther's other final form.

Biology
(Specifics may differ in past games. Refer to Game data→Evolution data for more details.)
Physiology
Scizor has a similar appearance to its evolutionary predecessor Scyther, except with a thick, red metallic exoskeleton, which comes at the expense of much of the speed Scyther had, but makes up for it by having a higher Defense and Attack. Instead of scythes, Scizor now also has crab-like claws, with yellow-and-black eye-like patterns on them that bear a faint resemblance to a Trapinch's head. Scizor has two-toed feet with one clawed toe in front and the other in the back. Scizor has a pair of retractable, two-lobed wings, similar to that of a butterfly. Aside from its primarily red coloration, Scizor has accentuations of black on its neck, chest, and abdomen, and yellow eyes.

Gender differences
Scizor can Mega Evolve into Mega Scizor using the Scizorite.
The female Scizor has a bigger abdomen than the male.

Special abilities
Biology
Scizor's abilities are basically stronger versions of Scyther's. However, it cannot match its pre-evolution's speed. It is however, stronger and much more durable, and capable of learning Steel-type moves.

Scizor is bipedal, insecta Pokémon with a red, metallic exoskeleton. It has gray, retractable forewings and hind wings with simple, curved venation. Its rounded head has three blunt horns extending above its forehead and eyes with dark yellow pupils. Scizor's thin, black neck connects to a black, teardrop-shaped patch on its thorax. Scizor has broad shoulders and thin, segmented arms ending in large, round pincers, which comprise a third of Scizor's body weight. Scizor has a large, rounded abdomen with three black, chevron-shaped stripes extending from its waist down its front; female Scizor has larger abdomens than male Scizor. Scizor's legs are defined by large hip joints, thin thighs, and wide calves, and its feet end in a clawed toe on each side. Its arms appear similar to pincers of animals from crustecean group like crabs and the presence of markings resembling eyes gives the illusion of additional heads.

Behavior
Scizor's body and muscles are made of metal that is as hard as steel, with pincers strong enough to crush any hard object. They can be opened and closed like jaws and are patterned with black eyespots with yellow "pupils". It will raise its pincers and wave them around to scare off predators or foes, giving it the appearance of having three heads. When it identifies an enemy, Scizor will use its pincers to beat up the opponent to the point there is nothing but scrap left afterwards. Scizor is incapable of flight, instead quickly flapping its wings to regulate its body temperature to prevent itself from becoming too hot and melting. It has tremendous power despite its slim body. Scizor is rarely found in the wild, though it can be found in List of Pokémon by habitat.
Scizor are known to upraise their claws and wave them around to scare off predators or foes, as their claws look like two heads. A Scizor's wings are not meant for flying but rather used to control body temperature; however, Scizor have been seen being able to 'glide' with their wings in the anime, by doing things such as riding wind currents, suggesting that their wings still possess minimal flight capability.

Habitat
Forms
Scizor can Mega Evolve into Mega Scizor.

Diet
Mega Scizor's pincers lengthen and develop serrations. The lower half of the pincers turn white and gain three-pointed spikes on the underside. The barbs on Mega Scizor's pincers can stab through concrete, and opponents caught in them cannot escape. Its eyespots, along with its actual eyes, are now blue; the former additionally gains a black rim. Additional pieces of black armoring appear on various areas of its body: a three-pointed crest on its forehead and striated coverings on its shoulders and thighs. Mega Scizor's legs are less detailed and resemble large, tapered spikes with white tips.
Pokémon food

In the anime
While Mega Scizor is formidable, it cannot maintain this form for extended periods, as it is overflown with excess energy from its Mega Evolution and is unable to regulate its body temperature properly. After too long, its body starts to melt, losing the strength to wield its heavy pincers. Mega Scizor's pincers can rip anything they grab to shreds, although it prefers to beat things up instead of grasping them.

Super Smash Bros. Melee
When released from a Poké Ball, Scizor will charge forward while flailing its claws, then leap high into the air and fall off the screen. Its attack pattern is similar to Marill.

Trophy information
This evolved form of Scyther has arms ending in large pincers with distinctive eye-spot markings. It's unable to fly very far with its wings, but it can affect its body temperature by flapping them at high speeds. Its sleek look has made Scizor quite popular among collectors.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Scizor makes a cameo appearance in the Kalos Pokémon League. When the stage transitions to the Pokémon League (Kalos), it can be seen in the background along with Steelix, Klinklang, and Honedge.

Trophy information
NA: Is that a three-headed monster?! No, wait... the left and right heads are actually claws! Creepy. Most creatures that have face-like patterns use them defensively to give themselves a chance to flee. Scizor throws that idea away and uses them to scare foes while it attacks!

PAL: It may look like this Pokémon has three heads, but that's just what it wants you to think. Look closer and you'll see that two of them are actually claws. Most creatures with face-like markings use them to scare predators to give themselves a chance to run away, but Scizor seems more likely to attack while its foe is stunned!

Pokkén Tournament DX
Scizor is a playable character in the arcade and Nintendo Switch versions of Pokkén Tournament.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Scizor returns as a Poké Ball item as it did in Super Smash Bros. Melee. It retains its movement and actions from prior games, using Metal Claw to fly at and slash opponents in its way with great speed. It then jumps off the screen. Its appearance on Kalos Pokémon League also returns. It also appears as a Spirits (characters).

Pokémon UNITE
Scizor (UNITE)
Scizor is playable through obtaining a Unite License. It is a melee all-rounder that starts as Scyther, which evolves into Scizor only if Bullet Punch is chosen at level 5. If Dual Wingbeat is chosen, Scyther will remain.

Trivia
Trivia
* Scizor shares the same species name with Kingler. They are both known as Pincer Pokémon, though Scizor was previously known as the Scissors Pokémon, and has been called the Scissor Pokémon in the anime.
* Scizor shares its category with Kingler: They are both known as the Pincer Pokémon. However, Scizor was known as the Scissors Pokémon in Generation II and has been called the Scissor Pokémon in the anime.
** Coincidentally, both Scizor and Kingler have the highest Attack stat of Pokémon of their primary type, each having a base Attack of 130.
* Scizor is the only Steel Pokémon to have List of Pokémon by shape.
** Despite having pincers, Scizor does not learn the move Vicegrip by any means.
* Despite having different base stats, Scizor, Kleavor, and Scyther all have a base stat total of 500 (Scyther has a higher base Speed, whereas Scizor and Kleavor have a higher base Attack and Defense respectively). As such, Scizor and Kleavor are the only Pokémon to not have their base stat total changed upon evolving.
* Despite having different base stats, Scizor and Scyther both have a base stat total of 500. In-turn, Scizor is the only Pokémon to not have its base stat total changed after evolution.
* Mega Scizor is tied with Pinsir, Mega Heracross, and Genesect for the highest base stat total of all Bug Pokémon.
* Scizor is able to learn three moves that increase one of its stats by two stages by leveling up alone. Those move are Agility, Iron Defense, and Swords Dance.
* Scizor can be seen as a parallel to Steelix:
** Both have pre-evolved forms from Generation I and were introduced in Generation II.
** Both evolve via trading with a Metal Coat.
** After evolving, both lose one of their pre-evolved form's types and gain a Steel type.
** Both gain a Mega Evolution in Generation VI.
** Both lose 40 points of base Speed upon evolving.

Origin
Origin
Scizor shares characteristics with flying red ants and praying mantises.
Scizor may draw inspiration from mantises or Climaciella. Its arms appear similar to pincers of animals from crustacean group like crabs and due to the eye-like markings on them, they look like additional heads.

The additions on Mega Scizor's body may be based on samurai armor.

Scizor (Japanese: ハッサム Hassam) is a dual-type Bug/Steel Pokémon introduced in Generation II.

It evolves from Scyther when traded while holding a Metal Coat. It is one of Scyther's final forms. In the Hisui region, Kleavor is Scyther's other final form.

(Specifics may differ in past games. Refer to Game data→Evolution data for more details.)

Scizor can Mega Evolve into Mega Scizor using the Scizorite.

Biology

Scizor with its wings retracted

Scizor is bipedal, insectoid Pokémon with a red, metallic exoskeleton.

Scizor is rarely found in the wild, though it can be found in grasslands.

Forms

Scizor can Mega Evolve into Mega Scizor.

Mega Scizor's pincers lengthen and develop serrations. The lower half of the pincers turn white and gain three-pointed spikes on the underside. The barbs on Mega Scizor's pincers can stab through concrete, and opponents caught in them cannot escape.[1] Its eyespots, along with its actual eyes, are now blue; the former additionally gains a black rim. Additional pieces of black armoring appear on various areas of its body: a three-pointed crest on its forehead and striated coverings on its shoulders and thighs. Mega Scizor's legs are less detailed and resemble large, tapered spikes with white tips.

Other appearances

Scizor in Pokkén Tournament

When the stage transitions to the Ironworks Chamber, it can be seen in the background along with Steelix, Klinklang, and Honedge.

It also appears as a Spirit.

Scizor in Pokémon UNITE

Pokémon UNITE

Main article: Scizor (UNITE)

Scizor is playable through obtaining a Unite License. It is a melee all-rounder that starts as Scyther, which evolves into Scizor only if Bullet Punch is chosen at level 5. If Dual Wingbeat is chosen, Scyther will remain.

Trivia

Origin

Scizor may draw inspiration from mantises or wasp mantidflies. Its arms appear similar to pincers of animals from crustacean group like crabs and due to the eye-like markings on them, they look like additional heads.

The additions on Mega Scizor's body may be based on samurai armor.

Name origin

Scizor may be a corruption of scissor, or a combination of scissor and razor.

Hassam may be a corruption of 剪む hasamu (to clip or snip).
