Samantha (Japanese: サヨリ Sayori) is a one-time character in the Pokémon anime who appeared in Once in a Mawile when the group were traveling across Izabe Island. She is voiced by Sanae Kobayashi in Japanese and by Amy Birnbaum in English.

She is a performer who does routines with ribbons. Samantha owns a Mawile that has many crushes. It fell for Lombre but Lombre was uninterested, much to the dismay of Brock who wanted to use it get closer to Samantha. After evolving into Ludicolo, it saw Mawile in a new light, but by that time Mawile had already moved on to a Psyduck.

For some reason, Samantha had a Water Stone in her backpack, which was what allowed Lombre to evolve.

Trivia

  • The official website for Cartoon Network initially called Solidad "Samantha" in their summary for May, we Harley Drew'd Ya. There might have been some confusion in who was who because their original names Saori and Sayori sound similar.
